Hello all. Here we are in U.S. 2 days out until Thanksgiving. We are now exactly a month from Christmas, and about 5 weeks from a new year!!! YIKES
Weren't we just celebrating all these things a couple months ago??? Sure seems so.
It is a wet, wet morning here. Temps are the 50's and rain. No outside kitties yet this morning! Smart kitties. That has upset Bitsy, as he like to greet them each morning (and yell at them) at the door. So, he had breakfast and is now curled up with me.
I have been doing the things one doesn't want to do in the rain, nor in the cold. Outdoor stuff been getting done, more each day. Things plugged in.
Things being hung, to avoid the cold. You all know I am not a fan of cold!
I have been making the lists and checking them twice. Trying to figure out what I do have for gifts so far, and what needs to be gotten. Placing the order for yearly gifts that all look forward to. So glad to get that done.
I did run out for a few errands yesterday morning (early). I got my monthly gas - a whole 1/4 tank (actually less) and used my points. I was in the Kroger lot at that point, so I did run in to look for a few basket stuffers. Got a couple things sis said she really like for her gift bag in the way of snacks, got a couple other odd ball gifts. It was early, so no real traffic in the store! In and out.
Got kitty litter at WM market on the way home. Good for several weeks now.
Trying to eat up things that are easy this week! Using freezer meals and stuff from frig. Keeping it simple - looking forward to that turkey!!!! I will do a turkey breast here on Friday.
I will NOT be going out on Black Friday at all. I am thinking about going to a craft/holiday bazaar close by on Saturday. I guess it depends on the weather - they keep talking rain/snow conditions. If I do, I do. If I don't, no big deal.
It is "Shop Small" Saturday - so if you get the opportunity, shop those bazaars or small family-owned businesses. You are helping folks in your community - not corporations.
What is everyone up to? You getting that bird (or whatever) and the kitchen ready for the big day?
Do you shop on Good Friday? Be careful if you do!!! The bad people will be out too.
Just DO the stuff - whatever it may be!!!!
Have a beautiful and blessed day!

We are celebrating in the park as well. There will be turkey and ham and all the fixings. The majority are Canadian but we're thankful to be here to enjoy the weather and each other's company.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your family!
That will be so nice and FUN! I am glad there are so many from Canada there for you to associate with. You guys have a blast and a great 'extra' holiday!
DeleteGood morning. We have the same weather here. It really looks like fall. I will make the cornbread today and set it aside for the dressing. I may go ahead and make my pie crust too. Most things will get prepped tomorrow evening to make Thursday a bit easier on me. There is a craft fair Friday that we may go to. I'm not much of a shopper but it will be nice to get out and walk around a bit.
ReplyDeleteThey say Saturday into Sunday we will have snow. Who knows though. Have a great day.
It sure is icky out. Sounds like you have a good plan. The S word is one reason I may or may not go Saturday. It would be fun to go to - but I guess I wait and see. Nothing I need, but haven't gone to one in a long while.
DeleteTime absolutely zooms by! Hard to fathom that it will soon 2026.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that as I went out to cut cilantro to put on my eggs, that is almost seems like a spring day. I heard a lawnmower engine and I assume the fellow was running out the gas. Not looking forward to the cold and wet, possibly snow.
Bits missed his "neighbors" this morning! Does he need a companion?
Love the quote! Saved to my "Quotes" board on Pinterest.
You bet time does fly.
DeleteI heard a lot of noise out yesterday - blowers, mowers, etc.
I am not sure how he would do with another cat - he grew up with Blackie, but other than that not sure. He likes Licorice and talks to him - but I can't touch Licorice, so that doesn't work. The other cats - he yells at and carries on. He likes to let them know this is his house! LOL
No plans for shopping or going places on Shopping Friday. (To me, Good Friday is right before Easter!) I do hope to see an out-of-town friend on Saturday though. :) Last year we didn't visit because of that hurricane.
ReplyDeleteI hope the pecans I ordered for daughter-in-law (and a few others) won't get lost in the holiday confusion. I asked for delivery to my work address, but we won't be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday!
Today is wet and chilly, getting colder as the week goes by. I do not like the cold. At all. I know we need it, if only to kill bugs and help the daffodils & peonies, but brrrr, I really feel it.
My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner is mashed potatoes. I need to eat up more of my fridge food so there will be room for Thursday leftovers! :)

I agree, Good Friday is before easter - Black Friday, is the biggo shopping day. I used to participate and go out - not doing that anymore!
DeleteI hope you get to see you friends. Hope your orders come and you get them. So much gets stolen anymore. I asked the small business I ordered from if they would send me and E-mail when they shipped - and they said they would. At least I will have some idea and will be able to track the shipment.
I am with you - don't like cold. I can't seem to get warm even in the house lately.
I just want all the odd ball stuff gone - then on to the turkey!!!
There will be no shopping for me on Black Friday. I’ll stay home and avoid the crowds. I’ll be making a turkey on Thursday and dressing to go with it, simple and easy. It poured down the rain here this morning, but has stopped now. It’s good to have a good soaking rain like that with so many leaves on the ground. We can blow the leaves away from the house and areas we walk and park, but not the entire 15 acres, so I’m grateful for the soaking rain.
ReplyDeleteI think many of us want nothing to do with the crowds!
DeleteNot sure what I will make other than turkey - but I imagine I will get some leftovers from niece too.
Oh, we need the rain for sure - still behind for the year. It is that cold and windy and wet that I don't like. Rain has stopped here as well. Just gloomy looking.
I remember working retail and “midnight madness” once or twice a year. And Boxing Day sales were the big deal (Canadian here, no November Thanksgiving, ours is in October). However after the Christmas rush I only went to the stores if I was working!
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry for the workers! They have to work super early and super late and deal with all the crazies!!!! It sure would make the shopping experience a lot less enjoyable for the those folks.
DeleteHere in Canada we actually have Black Friday week in some stores. I try and stay away as much as possible. Colder and snow here so I now really believe winter has pretty much arrived.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Wow, I never thought you guys would have Black Friday - but why not? I am so sorry you are getting snow - I really do not look forward to it.
DeleteIt feels like this month has gone by so fast! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteIt has flown by - and in no time we will be in 2026! Thank you so much.
DeleteFor a few days after black Friday there are always YouTube videos of brawls at the checkout, sales displays. They're an eye opener regarding some of the cultural issues plaguing the holidays in some areas. I've never gone to the events, the times when I've been in the country during holidays I always went shopping during down times, actually found better sales.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those people that fight and such over stuff are just nuts. Nothing is worth it. People seem to have forgotten what weekend it is!!! Being thankful!
DeleteIt seems many stores now do really good sales ahead of time, so yes, good deals can be had at other times.
We have a very windy day today and it is turning cold, only in the 30's. Brrrrr! Wednesday will be cleaning the house and getting it ready for my family to come on Thanksgiving Day. Friday will be eating leftovers, yum, and putting up the Christmas tree. I won't doing any shopping.
ReplyDeleteThe wind has started here this morning and it is to be very windy for a couple days. Don't over do it cleaning - they are there for you and the food! I always look forward to the leftovers. Enjoy the weekend and you are smart staying home.
DeleteMost black Friday deals are also online, that's what I do and they have already started. I hate crowds and being around people period. I've worked two retail stores black Friday back in the day before online sales. Not even big stores, small ones with not even good sales, and people were stupid. Like standing outside beating on the windows is going to do anything.
ReplyDeleteMost deals aren't real deals anyway, but sometimes there a few good good things. This year I've bought the kids needed underpants for a couple dollars cheaper. I also bought me a new mattress which is much needed and overdue (being delivered today so excited).
We do a big potluck style Thanksgiving dinner at my parents. This year I'm making corn casserole and homemade donuts so I'll fix the dough today. Maybe cookies depending on how the day is going.
Way back in my young days I did some retail, and just hated working the holiday sales. People are nuts!
DeleteI get what I can for the best prices, but I do not shop on Black Friday anymore, nor do I do online shopping. Call me old-fashioned - I am fine with that!
YAY on the mattress - I hope it is all you have 'dreamed' of!
Enjoy your potluck. Homemade donuts sound wonderful.
