Hello all. It is a cloudy morning here and about 28*. Calm before the weather really hits. Looks like a few days of real ICK here. Predicting some snow tonight into morning and then again Saturday evening into Sunday. It is also going to get really cold (for these parts). Highs in teens (actually 12 on Sunday) and lows below zero for a couple days. Then we get a rebound next week. Oh, such is winter weather.
I just love all the pics I keep seeing for the holiday - so I will post a fun memory of Christmas each day until Christmas!I forgot to mention that when I went to Aldi, I walked the 'aisle of shame'!!! That was where I spent most of my visit - so many fun things. I did get something for me, well, for my kitchen.
I got these liners for the air fryer. They are unbleached and they fit the tray perfectly. Packet of 50 for 3.78. I have always used regular parchment, then I have to cut it to fit. These really help keep the air fryer clean. I have used a couple already and love them. They also have some small holes for air flow.I am not sure if it will be a normal item or if it is just a special right now.
I like parchment in fryer, as it helps keep the greasy mess less.
Yesterday I got a phone call, while I was busy in the middle of something, so I let it go to the machine. It was the bank my CC is through - said they were calling to potential card fraud. Oh my! I have used the card a few times lately, so thinking it might be because of extra use. I hardly ever use it.
Well, I called back (and it WAS the bank) - I also got a text on different phone - and it ended up being a once-a-year charge, that was applied to my card. Nothing is just added to my card, without a purchase - except this one charge. So, it raised alerts. It was all fine, and I am glad they checked. It makes me feel better about things.
This is the time of the year that things happen a lot more. Keep track of things and be alert.
I keep all receipts, until I at least get the next statement - so I can check things.
I am sure glad I got ahold of the luncheon committee about tomorrow's lunch for high school. It is a decent drive, south of here, and I just decided I didn't want to go, so I let them know I wasn't coming earlier in the week. I do believe it may be a very messy drive for many.
I hope all affected by nasty weather, stay safe and warm.
Have a lovely day and remember - 2 weeks!!!!! from today!!!!
Blessings to all.

I saw on the news the bitter cold weather headed your way, Cheryl. Please stay as warm and safe as you can. I like using parchment paper or the liners too because they keep the air fryer much cleaner. I’m glad your bank was on top of that for you. Makes you feel safer, I know. Two weeks, I hope we can all slow down and enjoy this time. Anticipation is a part of Christmas, and I want to slow down and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteYes mam, it is going to get frigid, at least for a few days. Not looking forward to it.
DeleteThe liners really do help keep things clean. These are just perfect size and now work involved with cutting them.
I am glad too - yes, this time of the year stuff happens more.
As daddy always said the anticipation is always far greater than the realization - and I do think that is what makes it so magical for most of us.
I've been looking at that weather and seeing that it will head my way after it's done with you. Not looking forward to that. Not at all.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your bank and card are ok. That really gets the bloodpressure up, doesn't it. Gee whiz, *panic attack*! Seems like I'm forever calling the card company to check the balance: Is it what I think it ought to be?
My friend whose phone number was stolen seems to have reached the end of that mess, and it was quite an adventure with LifeLock and police, etc. But all is well, she says. I'd not be trusting that until a few decent months have passed, myself. The whole idea makes me twitch.
Made a big pot of lentil soup. Should last a few days. :)
Be warm, all, and be safe.

I know you are sure not ready for that frigid weather. We are a little more used to it than your area. Just stay in and warm and be safe.
DeleteYes mam, when I heard the message - my first response out loud - Oh s***! I had to hold for a bit to talk to someone, so my blood pressure did raise a little!
Oh goodness, that would be a mess. Didn't know someone could steal your phone number.
Sounds warm and yummy. I have a pot of baby lima beans going right now. Can't wait for them to get done and to dig in!
Stay warm, Cheryl. I’m glad that you won’t have to be out and about. When I lived in Virginia, ice scared me the most.
ReplyDeleteEven though I’m in Florida, I have a half dozen pair of pretty, cozy slippers collected over the years from church rummage sales. I wore one pair this morning.
My range (fairly new) has a built-in air fryer function that I’ve never used. I need to look in the booklet. But I wonder if it will save any energy since it’s part of the oven. I think the separate air fryers are better.
I have my credit cards set to send me an email if a purchase is made for $10 or more. I get the emails almost immediately after I make a charge and I like it. Twice (including recently when I paid the shower contractor) my bank has contacted me about large checks I wrote to ask me to verify that the checks were legit before they cashed them. I think that most financial institutions are really on guard for fraud. Glad your bank was doing its job.
Stay cozy.
Ice is very scary - I can handle the other pretty well, but ice has a mind of its own!
DeleteI never hear do a stove with an air fryer - cool. Not sure how that would work. My stove and oven are gas, and of course the fryer is electric.
I had that happen once when I paid a roofer - he went straight to the bank to cash the check, and they immediately called me, as I had never written a check that big! It is good to know they are on top of it. It just gets worse out there every day.
Cute socks! You are wise to stay home tomorrow. Just never know for sure what Indiana weather will dish out.
ReplyDeleteGood thing your bank was on top of the problem. Lots of dastardly people who don't want to work. I get calls and texts from "Amazon" but I know it's not them, just someone phishing.
We are off to get a few things that were forgotten on the last errand day. Fortunately, we are close to everything.
Stay warm, you and sweet bits!
Thanks. I don't NEED to go out to lunch, and I don't NEED to be anywhere.
DeleteYes, a lot of people working very hard to cheat people. Ruffles my feathers to say the least. If they worked that hard at an honest living!
You stay warm as well and safe.
Good late afternoon Cheryl. It has just started snowing here and seems to be coming down quite thickly. I have been home and not going anywhere for almost a week. Tomorrow, provided the weather is decent I will go and get the mail. That will be my one outing for the week.
ReplyDeleteYou stay safe and warm.
God bless.
I can understand not leaving the property. It is just to risky sometimes. Tonight it looks like they have lessened the amount of snow we will get, but we will get more Saturday and then the cold really hits. I don't like it, but it is what it is, and it is WINTER!
DeleteYou stay warm and cozy in your home. Be careful if you go out.
My w key is sticking and won't let me capitalize it, as is my s which adds extra s's. Darned keyboard.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say, winter is definitely making itself known this year. we've had cold weather and lots of snow. Tonight's low is -28C/-18F. It is supposed to get colder this weekend before the temperature rebounds and we're above freezing briefly. Crazy weather!
Glad your bank was on the ball and reached out to you. This time of year is definitely a time for potential scam and fraud.
Bummer on the keyboard - sounds like maybe you need to buy you a present!
DeleteOh my gosh that is cold. I can't imagine living like that all winter every year. Nope. I couldn't live any further north. Just not made for it. Stay safe and warm.
I just checked the weather after reading your post and it is supposed to be a high of 70 Saturday here, but Sunday a high of 48!!!! Yikes! Glad I read your post bc I have been so busy at work I have not been paying attention, plus it has been pretty decent here in the afternoons. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how fast the weather can change. We have a high of 12* Sunday - then by Wed. we are to be in the 40's again! It is nuts. 70 lucky you!!!!!! 48 sounds good to me!!!
DeleteStay warm and cozy.
It is white here again this morning - by a couple inches.
Super cute socks! I love the old fashioned picture; it reminds me of my childhood. Saturday, it’s supposed to be a high of 2 here in the Minneapolis area with a low of -14. Not looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteStay warm. Sue in MN
Thanks. I love all the old fashioned looking things. Same here, it takes me back to younger years.
DeleteGoodness, stay warm and safe. I am so glad I live no further north than I do - I am not made for the cold.
