Reminisce and Recipe

Hello all and happy Tuesday.  I sure hope this finds you all well and safe!  Well, we are finally starting to warm up a little bit.  It is 20 degrees warmer this morning than it was yesterday morning!  It is 24* as I type.  We may see 40 today.  We get to have a couple days of warm up and rain - then a cold day again (Friday).  Of course, that is the day I need to go out for celebrating with sis.  Hopefully there won't be any ice after rain on Thursday night.

This is my little tree!  There is also my little stain glass turtle - which works perfect in the Christmas colors!  I just love sitting in the evening with just the tree lights on and enjoying the colors and snuggles with Bitsy.  The little table it is on has always been called the 'library' table in the family - it was grandmas.  I have a big piece of glass over the top of it to keep it from getting scratched up.  That is where I put my cards I receive now (under glass).  I get fewer these days than in the past (used to hang them).  So, it works out perfectly to display them.  I have finally started getting some in the past day or so.
Incidentally, that same table is where momma would find their tree all decorated on Christmas morning, when she was little.  Santa brought their tree!

Here is another fun recipe to think about trying.  A cranberry/nut cheeseball.  I am making this when the kids come up for Christmas.  They like a lot of different flavors and tastes, so I think this will be perfect.  I have everything here to make it.
I just love fun and easy recipes for goodies.

I have been keeping busy getting things in order for all my goodie bags.  Making things and making sure I have everything I need.
What have you all been doing?  Are you ready?

Here is a reminisce for the day.  Who remembers the Norelco shaver Santa?  I remember seeing that on TV as a kiddo.  Probably one of the first commercials I remember seeing for Christmas.  Hope it makes you smile a little.

Go out there today and be the LIGHT that the world needs.  We can all add a bit of sunshine for someone else and to the world.
Have a wonderful day!

  1. Good morning, I love your turtle! Today we will be starting our Christmas baking. The list of people we give to has dwindled in the last few years. We are going to a family event on saturday I'm taking a green salad, it's a pot luck event. Keep warm!

    1. Howdy gal! Thanks - I found that many years ago at a yard sale. He is just so cute.
I have some baking to do this week as well. Good luck with yours - I bet the folks will be tickled to get homemade goodies. Have a super time at the family Christmas. I like a pot luck - you get so much variety. ENJOY

  2. The little turtle is adorable! He can shine all year long.

It's overcast right now but supposedly the sun will come out this afternoon. We moan about the weather but it will be what it will be. There are other things for which to be grateful.

Cheese balls used to be the big thing for entertaining. Your recipe with the cranberries and pecans sounds delish. I used to make one that had dried beef in it. It's interesting how some dishes make the rounds again.

We need to shine so that people know who our Redeemer is and that He lives.

Going to run some errands so I need to dig out a warm pair of boots. Sidewalks may be clean (or not), but the ground is still cold. Enjoy your day!

    1. Thanks - he does shine a good part of the year!
I thought it sounded good too. I am going to make - I will let you know. I may make the one with dried beef as well - I love it myself.
Yes mam - we all need to let our light shine.
I went out a bit and had my boots on. Not a lot of places are all clean yet. Our road is so nasty. Hopefully after today - it will be better. Be safe.

  3. We are hunkered down here, as a large storm is headed our way. Potential for up to 12 inches of snow tomorrow, and more later in the week. We did a bit of grocery shopping in advance on Monday, and should be good until next week. Fingers crossed!
    Enjoy your holiday preparations.

    1. Oh my goodness - that sounds awful. That is why I always keep extra in my pantry - don't want to be limited to a week or so. Stay in and stay safe and warm. Hoping you don't get that much.

  4. I've delivered a few Christmas goodies, got them out of my house before I decided to eat them myself! :D

Today is beautiful and sunny, but the wind is wicked cold, cuts right through and takes away breath. Brr. Glad to be at work where it is warm.

Boss said we have lunch coming on Christmas Eve - one of our customers is a caterer. I'm looking forward to that!

I may make that cheese ball for Sunday afternoon as there is a little get-together for singers. Thanks for the recipe.

    1. Glad you removed some of the temptation! It is a beauty here today as well and sunny, but still cooler. It is about 40 - but it beats zero all to heck.
How nice that there will be a luncheon - but I am surprised you have to work all day on Christmas Eve.
I think the cheese ball would be a hit. I can't wait to make it.

  6. What a cosy corner you have there. It looks a lovely place to curl up next to.
We put up our tree and decorations, but not so many as in previous years. It still looks good though and will take less time to take down again :) Today I foraged for greenery in the nearby hedgerows and made a Christmas wreath. We still have the Christmas Cake to ice. We are getting there.

    1. Thank you - my house is little, but I think it is very cozy. I like it like that.
Glad you are getting your decor up. Making your own wreath is just lovely. I haven't done that in years. What a nice activity and it costs nothing but a little time. I bet it will be beautiful.
Slow and steady wins the race!

    1. Thank you - it is plenty big enough for me. I just like the lights.
Not sure what day the kids are coming, but I am making this one.
I think I am about done and ready myself, other than a little baking. Kind of nice!

    1. Thank you - I think it is cute.
I have the table and all the books that sat under it for years and years. Most of the books have copyright dates in the 1800's. I am so happy to have it.
I think it will be very tasty!

  10. Did what I hope my last shopping trip for the year today, and now just like Maebeme, we are hunkering down for what could be a major storm. Not so much here as a bit further north, but one never knows. I am thinking of making a cheese ball for our small family get together.

    God bless.
