The Weekend and Events

Hello to all you wonderful folks.  Praying you are all safe and warm and healthy.  It isn't even 7AM yet, and it is 45*F.  Today is going to be in the 50's and rain (lots of rain) - then the bottom drops out for a day.  Tomorrow is going to cold, cold, cold (teens).  Hopefully it will not be icy out by late morning tomorrow, as I plan to go down and have Christmas with sis.  Brother and SIL are going too.  It is supposed to start warming up again on Saturday and there will be NO chance of a white Christmas here.

What is your upcoming weekend going to be like?  Many will be baking, some will be shopping, some will be wrapping, and some will be having family gatherings.  Some may just be enjoying the quiet and solitude of the season.
Can you believe it is just one week until Christmas Day?
Two weeks and we start a new year.  Lots of people are thinking of ideas and plans for the new year, and ways to stretch a dollar, and ways to live a simpler life.
Whatever you put your hands or heart to this weekend - I hope you spend time JUST enjoying the season a bit.
May you and yours stay warm and cozy, and SAFE!  I know many places are getting slammed with really nasty weather.  Do not go out if you don't have to, if you are in those areas.  Stay well and safe for your family.  Let us know what your plans are!
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

Blessings to you all - spread the gift of the season to everyday!

  2. The warmer weather will feel so much better than the bitter cold. I hope you have a great time with your siblings tomorrow. I’ve been staying home, so I don’t have to get out in the cold weather. No big plans for the weekend just staying home and enjoying the season. I hope you have a very good Thursday, Cheryl.

    1. I love the warmer temps, but I know some people really want cold and snow for the holiday.
Staying home is a good place to be and a good thing to do! Thanks, I look forward to getting together.

  3. Have a great time with your family, Cheryl. I’m glad that the weather won’t be bad for driving and hope there is no ice.

I’m planning a quiet weekend and hope to get outside to work in the yard. Yes, we are still in the 70s. My shower door has finally arrived and is in my garage. Contractor may install it as early as next week but I’m guessing it will be after Christmas. Today is sort of a sad event, a Celebration of Life for my friend’s wife who died last month after a long illness. Today would have been her 55th birthday. I’m looking forward to seeing some people I haven’t seen in a long time, however.

Last night I watched Last Christmas. Kind of corny but I love it and love the London setting and, of course, love the song.

    1. Thanks. Quiet sounds perfect to me. Hope you get the doors put in sooner than later. Gosh, not yet 55 when she passed - that is sad. I know you enjoy seeing friends, but sorry for the occasion.
No movie too corny if you want to watch it. I have seen several that others may not like.

  4. We were out shovelling out the paths in the yard at 5:30 this morning. The parking pad will be next. The weather app says we had 50 cm/20 inches of snow in 24 hours. And it is getting very cold -23C/-9F but with the wind the temperature feels even colder.
While there are no plans to venture out, the shovelling had to be done as there is more snow expected tomorrow.
Stay safe in your travels this weekend.

    1. Oh my gosh!!!! Way too much snow and too cold. I can't even imagine that much in such a short time.
Please stay safe and warm. Hope the forecast is wrong.
      Thanks

  5. Plans to sing Friday evening and again on Sunday afternoon. That's enough excitement for me! No rain here yet, and temps in 40s. The snow has fallen out of the forecast, and I'm happy about that. It's beautiful but such a pain for any activity other than shovelling or sledding!

Have safe travels, Cheryl! Enjoy your family time. :) Love the little cat picture!

  7. Cute little picture of kitties! The time has flown by and soon it will be 2026. I read a blog post the other day about making resolutions and this lady (wisely) suggested breaking up the year into segments regarding new thing to accomplish. That made good sense to me, or even break it up into seasons. Our needs are different during those times. Just a thought...

It just started raining here at 10:30. Not a lot but it certainly looks like a cozy day indoors. Hope tomorrow is dry, I can handle cold, just not slick. Be safe while you are out tomorrow. As I tell my girls, "be careful, the idiots are out there". Speaking of which, you may not have seen the news report about the street racing incident on last Thursday at 8:00 a.m. that caused a pickup truck to catch on fire with the driver inside. Talk about stupid, not only drag racing during morning traffic, but the two "racers" took off on foot. Needless today, they were caught and arrested. I have been praying for the family of the person who was killed. Sad.....

Be safe, keep dry and cozy!

    1. That isn't a bad idea. I don't do resolutions anymore - but do make a few plans. Yes, things change by the season.
We have had rain as well. Nothing bad yet, just enough to be messy. I hope roads aren't slick tomorrow as we head out.

I saw that on the news - just horrible. Did you see one of the vehicles that was racing? How anyone ran from that amazed me. There was nothing left. I hope they throw the book at them. Such terrible sadness.
You are right - people get crazy when it is snowy or icy. I swear they forget how to drive from one year to the next.
      Thanks

    2. That is in Erin's neighborhood, (Lynhurst and Vermont). She has had two different people cause an accident and destroy her vehicle. One person admitted to the wreck but had no insurance, possibly not a license, and another who caused her to total her car and took off in his car. I have a feeling it was the same situation as these drivers. Yehovah's grace protected her.

    3. She was definitely covered by the grace of God. There sure are some crummy people in this world who think they can just do anything. Sad part is many get away with it.

  9. Enjoy your family visit. I will be finishing a tiny bit of baking (buns and bread) on Friday and then just working on my projects. Nice and easy lead up to the busy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations.

    God bless.

  10. Down here, yesterday was just so hot and the sun relentless when I had to go out to visit a house bound person. It reached 39C / over 100F. My poor roses are dying despite watering daily. Covering the tomatoes has helped them. Glad I have done all my Christmas shopping and hopefully we will have cooler weather next week.
