Hello all. A cool morn here - sure had an incredible sunrise! The colors were beautiful. The kitties were all so happy to see me!! They all get excited about breakfast.
Yesterday was a pretty and sunny day. Lots of melting happened again. Odd thing, the northern most part of the yard, full sun, so no shade at all - is still covered in snow. The front yard, with the exception of the small mountain of snow from shoveling, is melted. Even though the ground is brown - it is nice to see.
This is very true. You can't buy a simple life, you make it. You make different decisions and you choose different things, and you make different choices than others. You learn to embrace the simpler things in life and you learn to realize the beauty in them. You don't need to be rushed and hurried all the time. You can say NO - that is an acceptable answer. You do not need to feel left behind or feel like you are doing without. You WILL find your life can be much happier - just by doing a simple life.
If you can't say something nice..............
Do unto others.........................
When in doubt - don't
Love one another
Embrace all of God's creations
Life is short - make the most of each day
A smile or kind word - can make someone else's day
If you want something - work hard for it
Nothing in life is free
SIMPLE THINGS!!!!!
There were tons of lessons learned over this gal's 70+ years - and most all have proved to be invaluable.
Just be the best you can be and DO GOOD!!!! That will make life better for you and to everyone else.
No need to complicate things.
I hope you all have a nice Valentine's Day if you celebrate. Love one another,
Blessings to each of you - SMILE!

"Just be the best you can be and DO GOOD!" Truer words never spoken! Sometimes it is difficult to summon up the gumption to be the best you can. People go through tough times and of course, the weather can play a big factor in one's mood. We have to rely on the hand of the Master.
ReplyDeleteIt was overcast earlier but now the sun is out. Most of our snow is gone. The van wouldn't start during the very cold weather, but PTL, it is running now. We rely on the van for hauling things and it's good to have a backup, even though the vehicles are 26 and 25 years old. I guess the price of new cars has skyrocketed.
Bought a whole organic chicken at Meijer and it is going in the crockpot today. Should be enough for tomorrow's lunch too. Maybe take the leftover scraps and put barbeque sauce on it for the Sabbath. Streeetch it as far as it will go
Enjoy your weekend. Looks like the coming week will be good temps.
It can be trying some days - but there is NO excuse to be nasty. None. Some people seem to nasty all the time - maybe that is their joy. Kind of sad.
DeleteMy Blazer really hesitated when started during the extreme cold, but it always started. I would let it run for a while - just to keep it going. I didn't leave, just started the car. Glad yours started.
Enjoy that chicken - it should provide some good meals and broth.
Looks to be warming nicely!
I so wish your list was really how people live. Sadly it seems each lesson is followed too often with "unless".... a good life is made better if the "unless" is truly not part of practice. You share good bites of wisdom. Have a good Thursday, Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteI know lots and lots of people that live by these lessons with no 'unless'. There are many good people in this world.
DeleteThank you - you have a good day as well.
I like to think that I am like the cat in the picture. I like to sit back and observe, rather than jumping in with both feet. Modern life seems to demand that everyone should instantly have an opinion on everything and voice that opinion loudly. That's not the way my brain works. I will say what I think, but only after actually thinking it over and I hope that I can do that without being unkind to anyone else.
ReplyDeleteMe too!!! Silence can speak volumes. I know some people who cannot stand my silence on some things - it drives them nuts. I tend to think the silence is speaking.
DeleteYou sound wise. Yes, ponder and think and then speak rationally without being nasty. Many can't do that.
" Nothing in life is free" Well, ain't that the truth says the lady just back from doing her weekly grocery shop !!! Honestly I don't know how much more prices can rise......
ReplyDeleteLinda and I had a lovely coffee, and she returned the wool she found last week on the Free Table as two pairs of child sized mittens. We also left a few treasures for someone else to find.
I am taking a break in my spring cleaning today because I have had a brilliant idea involving chicken feed bags, my sewing machine and tape measure to hopefully solve the issue of the cost of trash bags. It may be a firecracker of an idea, or a real stinker, only having a go will tell for sure.
Have a great weekend, take care, Louise.
So many think the world should be at their beckon call - and it has never worked that - really.
DeleteI still only shop for weekly deals or clearance, so I manage to keep costs lower than most.
How nice to return the yarn as mittens! Treasures are always sweet.
Oh how fun. I have made reusable grocery bags from feed bags before - they were neat. Hope you have a gang buster idea. Let us know how it all turns out.
What I love most is that you teach them to others.
ReplyDeleteI try Kim, I try!
DeleteBeautifully stated.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!!
DeleteGood things to live by! I moved to my current location 3 years ago to be closer to family and I don't know a lot of people here. A few days ago I was down at the shops and a woman I have only met a few times came up to me and said, lovely to see you I haven't seen you around for ages and touched my arm. From that interaction I was actually on a high for the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. A great example of a small gesture, that can change a day for someone. I love that.
DeleteThank you for sharing that.
It has rained here for the past two weeks……every day and night. It has been so miserable. Today my cousin invited me down for a simple lunch and it lifts the mood. I am not very good with my own company in winter. It’s different in summer as you can pass the time with the garden.
DeleteAre you good with your own company Cheryl?
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia - good to hear from you. That would be miserable to have so much rain every day. Something so simple and sweet as lunch out with a loved one or friend can do wonders.
DeleteI do pretty good - but I do also have all the animals I take care of. One inside to keep me company, and several outside that depend on me. That helps a lot.
I do look forward to tinkering in the garden with plants and the dirt!
When I was Youth Coordinator at our Parish I always said to the youth and myself .... What Would Jesus Do. That encompasses absolutely everything. Still try to follow this to this day.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That is the best advice and word there is. Yes, what would Jesus do? If we only said that more - things would be so much better.
DeleteI love hearing do good stories...I hope I can spread peace and joy to someone too. Have a great weekend Cheryl.
