Hello all - on this lovely day. Today is gorgeous here and will probably be the best day of the week! Humidity has dropped and it is dry, and the sun is out. It won't last - but today should be wonderful.
Hope this finds you all good!
Today I am listing just a couple of items that might help some save a little bit. It depends on you and where you might shop.
Postage is going up again. If you use stamps, now is the time to get some. You will save 5 cents a stamp by buying now. Think ahead to the holidays! Get stamps now for all your cards.A couple weeks ago we talked about Aldi and Kroger have reduced many, many prices as well for this summer. Kroger says over 1,000 prices lowered and Aldi says over 400 products lowered. Kids are home from school - so grocery bills go up. Many celebrations as well. Add to you stock and get any deals you can.
Looking at sales this week, the best deal I saw at Kroger is watermelon for 2.99 and Kroger cheeses - 8 oz. for 1.49. If you buy soda pop, they do have a B2G3 12 packs. I know many don't (it is so expensive), but for those that do - decent deal, I guess.
Yard sales are now in full force all over. Watch for many back to school clothes for the young-ins at those. Don't forget your thrift stores as well.
Just trying to help anyone that may shop these places. We need to look out for each other. Saving now and where we can, can sure help the budgets.
If you know of any chain stores that are offering discounts this summer, let us know!
Have a great day and enjoy to the fullest. I plan on going out in a few to get some yard work done, and take advantage of the cooler temps. It won't last!
Have a beautiful day!!!!!
Today is an absolutely gorgeous day! It was 66* when I got up. It will go back up into the 90's. We need to make a trip to Costco and Erin will go with us. Hope I have enough energy when we get home to do a few things outside.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see prices falling at some stores. I did buy forever stamps at Costco so I have plenty for now. Not very often that I mail things via USPS. It's easy to pay bills by phone or the computer.
The Farmer has been using his homegrown jalapenos in his morning eggs. We also cut herbs from the herb table he made to put in our eggs. The weirdest thing about a favorite tomato we like...it's called Mr. Stripey and last year we bought two plants (Bonnie plants) and they were not as advertised. He bought seeds and started his own plants this year, and guess what...not as advertised. Think I'm going to do a general internet search and see if anyone else has had the same problems. We have lots of small tomatoes but would like to have a slicer for BLTE sandwiches. We are using our homegrown cabbage in dishes too. Nothing like fresh grow-ceries! I got one red raspberry yesterday and ate it right away. Yum!
Enjoy your day!
It is a lovely day. I spent most of the morning out doing things - will go back out later and do more. Making hay while the weather is decent.
DeleteI love seeing places lower prices. I saw eggs pretty cheap (considering) last week. Half of what they were for a while.
Grow-ceries are the best. Lucky you on tomatoes. I see one out in mine ripening today! Mr. Stripey are very good - I have had them in years past. I wonder what is going on. It will be interesting to see.
My husband orders lots of seeds as he plants a huge.garden. Following the pandemic we have had many times the seeds were not what we ordered...not even the same type of plant! Not only frustrating as seeds have gotten so expensive!
DeleteThat is a real bummer. Seeds can get very pricey, and not even being the right species! Dang. Sorry you have had that problem. I hope you have been able to use or pass on the others.
DeleteAnything to help reduce our prices right now, it is scary out there.
ReplyDeleteI figure all info is good info!!!
DeleteThanks for heads up on the stamps. Weather here in SW WA is 66, with a high today of 72. We went to farm market yesterday, and today hubby made fridge pickles and I made three types of freezer jam. Will need to go back for more boysenberries as I see a cobbler in our future. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! Oh Cheryl, I would love to have your weather - that sounds perfect for me.
DeleteGood going on the fridge pickles and the jams! That will be so good in the fall and winter. A little bite of summer!
You are so right to say that we all need to look out for each other, Cheryl. These are very trying times, but our ancestors got through tough times by acting communally and sharing knowledge and we can do the same. Enjoy the sunshine! x
ReplyDeleteAMEN! We think things are bad, but our ancestors went through so much. Things we cannot even imagine. They sure had grit. Yes, as a community, we can help each other.
DeleteShopping the sales is becoming second nature. I have been thinking that a price book would be a great thing to start once again. I am planning to attend more Farmer's Markets this year and hit the fruit truck when it comes to the city.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I always shop sales and clearance. Just my thing.
DeleteI shop at the same couple places, so I wouldn't need one - but I think that might be a good idea for many shoppers.
I have a discount store now that is close - they have some great deals too. I haven't been to the farm markets yet - need to do that.
Rain last night, but not violent. Quick grocery run after a dental appt, and then work a bit in the garden. Some of the things I wanted to buy were on special! What a great day. :) Looking forward to a few days more to work outdoors before it gets stinkin' hot again.

Sounds lovely. Glad you found some things you needed on sale! I got a lot done today while it was cooler today. You be careful out there and don't overheat!
DeleteJust got 14 five pound packages of BLSL chicken breast for $5 each ($1/pound) using Flashfood app. 70 pounds! I shared 60 pounds among family members and friends who still have kiddos at home and are on tight budgets. Having raised 11, we remember those days and feel like we have an opportunity to “give back” in a small way since we have time to scout out deals and pick them up .
ReplyDeleteThis is a great time to stock up on those holiday savings too! With the hot weather, we will be enjoying sale potato salad, Cole slaw, corn on the cob and watermelon to just graze on instead of cooking anything up.
That is fantastic. What a deal. How wonderful to have shared so many. How wonderful to have shared so much. I bet the kids sure appreciate it. I still have not tried Flashfood. Of course it is just me, so may not be a thing for me. I know you find a lot at Meijer - I just don't get that direction often.
DeleteThis is the weekend for grazing!!!! Hope you have a great weekend with the family.
When you go to buy stamps, invest in some "extra ounce" stamps. They are only .28 so if a card or letter weighs over an ounce you can save .50 by just adding the extra ounce stamp instead of using two stamps.
ReplyDeleteI always, always get good deals at ALDI. Though recently, I've not enjoyed shopping at DG. I find their prices too high compared to Dollar Tree. Been making a lot of photography DIY things and right now, Dollar Tree wins. DG ... I will believe it when I see it.
ReplyDeleteToday was over 85 and feels-like temp was higher. It was so humid and sticky. Next year, I will have a small greenhouse! I miss growing things.
