Howdy all. Hope you are well and safe. Dang it, more storms went through yesterday in many areas. That is the one thing about this time of the year I don't like. I love the rebirth of everything, just not so happy about storms. I guess it is part of the season - but it doesn't make it feel better.
It is cool this morning, probably close to as high in temp as it will get. It is about 61* right now. Going to maybe mid 60's. We had rain late last night and I heard a little thunder noise - nothing bad here.
There might be a shower or 2 today - but nothing major.
So much is coming back to life, greening up, showing up and thriving.
You just never know what you might see and hear. I do love nature (except the storms). It is so fascinating and beautiful. You just never know what you might see!
Sometimes it is pesky as well!!!! It is 'ant' season around here. Oh goodness, those pesky tiny ants!! You can't leave a spot or crumb of anything anywhere - there will be ants. They just appear. I have to wash out anything that goes in the trash or wrap it up. The cat food outside sits in a shallow bowl of water (they hate water) so the kitty can eat without ants. The kitchen floor is washed daily. The garbage disposal is run a lot and the sinks cleaned constantly! Yep it is that time.
I know that ants surely do have a job on this earth, as does everything - but this week I think that job is to annoy me!!!!! LOL
*If Bitsy sees one - Katey bar the door - he is going to eat it! He eats about anything he sees. He catches flies and eats them. My little bug catcher!
I walked out Monday morning to start my work, and I hear the big woodpecker chirping/singing. I started looking for it. Well, I am scouring the trees to find it, and I noticed something else. I ran in to get a camera.
What to my wondering eyes did appear - a sweet face up in the tree!
Can you see that face in the middle of the circle? A young racoon. That is about 30-35 foot up in the tree. Just hanging out in the crook of the tree. The squirrels didn't seem bothered. If you click on the picture, you might be able to enlarge. It was so cute!!!! It stared down at me for a while, then I went off to work, and never saw it again. Haven't seen since.I guess maybe it may have been lost or just hanging out for a while. They are working on a house and garage a few doors down across the alley, and there is a lot of shelter areas in that yard. This was the morning after they made a bunch of noise down there. This is the first one I have noticed in a long while.
That face!!!!!!!
I am seeing the hummers more and more. Little flying jewels. I keep the nectar fresh and there are lots of flowers around. They are just the most precious little things.
I was watching the white pigeon. He is all white with a gray stripe down his back and on his tail. I keep saying "he". It is obvious he is strutting and fluffing around and doing the 'dance' to impress the gals! They seem to keep walking off and avoiding him. I wonder if it is because he is different looking or if they just don't like him or maybe playing hard to get! It is funny to watch them try and mate.
He is sure a pretty thing. I need to get a pic of him.
Our world is so amazing in so many ways. I am so grateful that we get to experience so many things. Each thing is a miracle in my opinion - a wonder to behold.
Take time to just look and listen. Each and every flower is different, each and every creature is different - just like each of us is so very different.
I enjoy listening to the littles out playing and laughing, and even like smelling the grills going all around and the smell of freshly mowed grass.
Pretty darn awesome!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy every sight and sound!
LIFE IS INCREDIBLE
Great capture of your little visitor in the tree! Are the roses yours? Cute story about the the pigeon. The ladies are having none of him. "Go away!" We rarely hear a woodpecker around here. They were common on the farm where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteIt has definitely turned cooler. I was so cold last night I got up and layered up with fleece pants and my long robe.
One thing we don't have an issue with is ants. We did spot our first mosquito the other day. You are right about this amazing world of ours. Look at the good things that the Creator has provided for us, not the negative things.
Enjoy your day. We are making a Costco run, both for some groceries and prescriptions.
Yes mam the roses are mine. A climber. I have 2 or 3 woodpeckers around all the time. The big one has such a neat song.
DeleteIt is sure chilly today. I was ok last night - tonight might be cooler. Lucky you on no ants.
Yes indeed, the world is pretty darn amazing.
I just got back from visiting sis - so a little later answering.
On Monday I saw a Pileated Woodpecker working in the nearest dying tree. :) Big beautiful bird.

They are just glorious to see!!!! Lucky you! What a treat that was.
DeleteWhat a cute face that raccoon has. It's a shame they can be pests, getting into garbage. We don't seem to have any in the city, though my brother has had to remove them from his acreage a few times.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get out for a walk later this week - it's still raining here and cold so I'm spending my days indoors.
It is just a precious face. Yes, they can be pesty. I live outskirts of city, but still populated neighborhood and we have all kinds of critters. It always amazes me.
DeleteChilly here today as well. Hope you can get out and walk and enjoy the fresh air.
This cool front is so appreciated by me. I wish it could stay like this all summer. That is a great picture of the cute raccoon.
ReplyDeleteI like cooler at night - but a little chilly for daytime for me. I like 70's! I heard this will stick around until at least first week of June!
DeleteI get those any piles too, but I save them for my grandson, he loves to eradicate them, which makes me feel bad, but they do have to go.
ReplyDeleteI have rehomed a lot of critters over the years but never have killed any. Can't say the same for some neighbors.
DeleteI have a few size traps and can trap and release. I am good as long as there isn't harm to anything or other animals.
It is an amazing world, this morning I watched a ninety-something year old woman sit with a twenty something year old boy and they never stopped talking once!!! For two full hours!!! Of course a lot of it was my son showing Linda silly things on his phone, then they would both laugh. Then he would find more videos of chickens singing or cats dancing or dogs driving cars and they would laugh again!!! Take care, Louise
ReplyDeleteOh Louise, that is totally amazing and wonderful. A beautiful time for her and what a gift for him to be around her. That sure made me smile. Thank you for that.
DeleteNature certainly is amazing. I have been watching wrens hopping around our front yard over the last couple of days. They really seem to like the wet weather we are getting.
ReplyDeleteThe young raccoon is such a cutie.
God bless.
It is amazing to watch them court and get ready for their young. I can never get enough nature.
DeleteIt just too cute - almost like a little teddy bear! Haven't seen it since.
Thank you for the reminder that life is incredible. The older I get the more I take the time to find joy in small things.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing a racoon in our backyard, too! Haha! They are cute! Hope it turned out to be a pretty day for you. Things are blooming like crazy here and I am here for it! I do hate the storms, of course.
ReplyDeleteThey are just the cutest. It was a dreary wet day - but still a great day on this earth!! The world is coming back to life - it is wonderful.
DeleteMay is a wonderful month. Everything is so fresh and green, despite us having no rain for weeks. Then this morning I got up and found puddles. It had finally rained overnight. My garden will be very grateful and hopefully the blackbirds will be able to find worms in the softened ground, rather than chucking soil out of my plant pots!
ReplyDeleteHope you get more rain, wish we could send you some. There sure has been a lot in some areas. It seems like you can see gardens grow over night when it rains.
DeleteYesterday was misty all day, and the birds were sure enjoying it!
Yes I love this time of awakening. Except for the ants. We have fire ants here and I’ve already been attacked twice. Hubby sprays and they are a little better right now. Cute raccoon!! Our little dog tries to catch houseflies! 🤣
ReplyDeleteIt is such a pretty time. Oh my gosh, fire ants! awful things - sorry you have had problems. That must be painful.
DeleteLOL - Bits does the same thing. Such a fun time to try and catch a fly. So cute!
