Progress

Hello all.  Prayers all are safe and healthy.  It is a very chilly morning here.  It is definitely fall!  Sweatshirt and sweater weather is here.  I got up to a light frost in our area.  It was 38* and the coldest it has been since April!  UGH.  I know it is time, but I sure don't like cold weather.
Life changes for all of us, sometimes as often as daily.  Things happen that we just don't expect, things happen that we anticipate, and it is normal for things to change.  Change is our one constant!

As we are ready to enter a new season, we do things differently.  We prep for the holidays and for winter (spring in other places) and we can be guaranteed we get older each day and things change with us as individuals as well.
As we age, things move slower.  We move slower.  We look at things differently as well.  Some things are not as important as they used to be.  That is normal.
You gals with kiddos, notice change as well, as your children age.  Nothing stays the same.

Progress - any progress - is good.  You don't have to change overnight.  Baby steps and slow and steady are just fine!
Adding to your pantry, lowering a bill or two, paying off a small bill, rearranging a room, decluttering a little, it is all progress.
Be proud of what you get accomplish, it all matters.  Just keep plugging away.  Some days we all feel like what is the point.  That is normal too.
A calm home (a decluttered home is calmer) a simple meal, peace of mind about finances, being in LOVE with your life - it is all progress.
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will get there.  It isn't a race.

May you all have a blessed and peaceful day.
Whatever you put your mind to this weekend, ENJOY!

  1. This reminds of the book "Atomic Habits". The smallest action on a daily basis adds up over time. Starting a new atomic habit every few days or weeks stacks up to big change over time. Reading this book was a great motivator for me to start a walking program and eating less . I've gifted 74 pounds to the universe over 4 years. I logged 1800 miles in 2024 vs 602 miles in 2022 and already 1735 in 2025. No starvation, no "naughty foods". A bit more walking and bit less eating. (no drugs, no surgery, because I get asked). Atomic Habits reprogrammed my brain and thought processes! I'm healthier at 64y young than I was at 50!!

    Happy Thursday everyone! 🙂🙂

    1. Love this. Thank you for posting this - just shows how those little changes CAN make a big difference.
Sounds like a book I need to read.

  2. Great reminder on change and taking small steps to make big differences. This fall as I went through everything and looked at each item, I asked myself is this something I want or need for my future self and I was able to let go of a number of things that I had been holding on to. I had to remind myself that just because I have the space doesn't mean I need to hold on to things. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Very good point. I think because we have kept something a long time - we need to continue to. We need to ask the hard questions. Being freed of some things is so nice.

  3. I have always been hard on myself and never had much confidence. So I frequently wonder what’s wrong with me for being SO slow to declutter, move, get my house ready to sell and put my new house in order. Some people do it all in a weekend. But I am very proud of myself for every step I take and I’m getting there doing almost everything alone. Still there are many days I feel like giving up. God blessed me with a second life three years ago, though, and I am not going to waste it and will keep moving forward slowly.

    1. Oh Barbara you aren't alone. I have been working on decluttering for many years now - and it doesn't seem like anything is gone! Yep, it is, but there is still a lot.
Nothing gets done in a weekend here!!!!
You have been given a wonderful gift - never doubt yourself or your intentions. Slow an steady!

  4. What a wonderfully encouraging message. Thank you. I’m not ready for the cold. I prefer fall over every season. Lynn, Pecos, NM

  5. I find that making detailed lists helps me. I can cross things off my list every day and see the progress I've made. For sure, small changes are easier to make than big ones, and they do add up, no doubt about that. :)

In my old age I find that things go FASTER. The day is done in a flash, I run out of time for this or that, and I've not been sitting around watching daytime TV & eating bonbons either. I'm on my feet almost all day long, at work and at home. Maybe I am, myself, moving slower, but *time* has sped up tremendously! When I wake in the morning I think, "How can it be morning already? I just went to bed!"

Life can be pretty funny sometimes. :D Today it's chilly, indoors and out. I need to make a big pot of soup. If I'd thought of it earlier I'd have set it going before I left for work, but now there's not enough time. Be well, all. :)

    1. Lists are wonderful - I too am a list maker.
That is funny you say that about time. The months seem to fly by, but I don't feel that way about the days. Some days seem to drag to me.
Chilly days and homemade soup - perfect match!

  6. "Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will get there. It isn't a race." This should be put on a sign and hung in every home. When we get overwhelmed and hurry, we don't make as much progress, plus we're just worn out. When we rush through, that's when mistakes are made, which is another aggravation. Another thing to ask yourself as you sort through all your belongings, would you pay a mover $$$ to take it to a new home across the country. Would it be worth it?

It was 37* this morning. Brrr. The Farmer covered the remaining tomatoes and cucumbers. He has cut some fig branches for starts. After watching several YouTube videos, he feels confident that it will work. We have just the spot for another fig tree.

Enjoy your weekend. See you on Sunday!

    1. It is so true. The faster I go - the behinder I get!!!!! Being mindful of time and what we are doing seems to be best.
I pretty much have decided to be done with toms. I pulled out a bunch of them this morning and did save some green ones for friends tomorrow - when I go out to lunch.
      Good luck with the fig.

  7. We were at the freezing mark this a.m. But will warm up nicely this afternoon.
Time is a privilege that we often find in retirement. I'm grateful for every day but I know that it was the progress I made when I was working that allowed me the opportunities I enjoy today. There were tough times but I regret nine of it.

    1. You are very right. We have earned this time and we need to enjoy it. I often think about when I worked and all I did, and wonder HOW?
