Weekend Coming

Hello and happy Thursday to all.  Hoping you are all doing well.  Here we are coming into another weekend and soon the last week of the month!  Where did it go????
It was 48* upon my rising this morning outdoors and 70* in the house.  Not too snaggy!  We have been on repeat most of this week and will continue to be for many days.  The weather here is just lovely.
I saw on the news this morning that Arizona is having rain and hail, and lots of it.  Hope all you gals out that way are safe and don't get any damage.

Yes indeed.  Acquiring much, as in money can make you rich dollar wise - but you may lose a lot of other things.  Free time, serenity, no stress, family time, etc.  Desiring less lets us have less debt, perhaps work a little less, joy and happiness, no stress (about $), more family time, etc.  I like the trade off - so I am happy living a lifestyle without abundance of stuff.
However, I do have an abundance of other things, that means more than money.  Seems good to me.

The weekend is coming up, and in the fall, there are usually fun things to do that cost very little.  Of course, we all have yard work, and final harvests, and house cleaning.  But there are festivals, and nature walks, and pumpkins fields to go to, orchards, just all kinds of things that can be done for very little.  Hoping everyone has some decent weather and can get out and enjoy it some.
I think I may do some porch sitting this weekend too!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Hey, I just want to put this out here, for those that have Aldi in their areas.  Thanksgiving is coming up here in the U.S. and I am sure some are wondering how they can afford it.
Aldi has all the fixings for a smaller group for $39!  Click on above to enlarge to read easily.
Now you DON'T have to get exactly what they mention - it is not a pre-packaged deal.  You can substitute things for others - this is just a basic guideline.  Don't like peas - get corn or green beans.   Making your own stuffing from bread you have - get something to replace the stuffing mix.
Having a lot of people - get this deal at Aldi - then have other people bring a dish and BOOM you have tons of food.

Did a cat food run yesterday - and noticed Kroger had eggs 1.39 doz. regular price now.  Couple weeks ago, I got 18 packs of eggs for 2.19 (large).  Also notice many canned veggies were lowered in price as was pasta.
Start shopping now if you are having a big family meal for the holiday.  Look for the bargains and get things from clearance.
ALSO remember there is nothing etched in stone that says you have to have a traditional holiday meal!!!
A big pot of soup, chili, lasagna, spaghetti, pork, chicken, anything at all is fine!  It should never be about the food - but family, friends and neighbors and being THANKFUL!

So there is my public service announcement for the day!!!!!!!  LOL

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and get to enjoy some good weather.  Make some memories and have a little fun.  It doesn't have to cost anything, just have fun.  Farm markets will be ending soon for most areas, so maybe go and walk around one and just look and people watch - FREE!  Have lunch at the park!  Play in the leaves!  Just ENJOY!

Have a beautiful day!

  1. One year TheHub and I were alone at Thanksgiving so we both had a turkey sandwich. It was not traditional at all but was stress free and we enjoyed the day very much.

    1. Sounds perfect to me. The day after turkey sandwich is my favorite part of the holiday!!!!! That is what I look forward to. Even if I go somewhere, I bring home enough turkey for a sandwich!!! Enjoying the day is what it is about.

  2. Thanksgiving does not have to be a full blown (and stressful) meal. The first year the girls and I were by ourselves, we had a pot roast. Costco has a dandy little turkey breast, which would be perfect for the three of us. Erin doesn't have to work that day.

The weather has been just lovely, but it has kicked up my October allergies. The temps are perfect, my sinuses not so much. Lots of fall things to enjoy while the weather is still nice. So far we have been blessed, not just going from summer into really cold and wet conditions. Still far from running the furnace 24/7.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I usually go somewhere now, so I do fix a little turkey breast here for my sandwiches! Nope, don't need big and fancy.
You have the allergy bug as well?? It has been that way for me too. Sneezing a lot.
I love this weather. Haven't done the furnace yet - the little heater has done me well. It doesn't sound like furnace weather for the remainder of the month!

  3. I'm heading to the city for the weekend to visit my son, his g/f, the dog and cats. I've got a few things to do while there, including getting a haircut and having a visit with friends. I should be heading out Tuesday or Wednesday for Arizona. Here's hoping the bad weather will be at bay by then.

  4. We have a small family wedding this weekend. 2nd wedding for both and it should be a low key affair. We are travelling tomorrow and coming back on Sunday. 2 big storms on the way, so I am hoping that we will manage to avoid them.

  5. Well, today turned out different. My part time job called in a tizzy - Please could I come in - like right now. Well, ok, I can do that. :) Not sure how long this will last, but it's not been a problem as DD had been here for a visit and I didn't have to work, and then I was sick and I didn't have to work. Funny how things pan out. It sure it nice to feel useful though. :)
No plans for this weekend, although I am looking for my fancy mask. I can always dress in black and let my hair down. to look like a witch! :D Old age is a great costume.

    1. Well, they surely needed you - no one else would do! I am glad you had the time off when needed though. God works in mysterious ways. Anxious to hear if you are going back or just filling in.
I quit doing Halloween several years back. I just didn't feel safe being alone - you never know who are kids and who isn't.

  6. Today has been pretty good. I got up early enough to get the main household chores done, got our flu shot and Covid booster done, did some knitting (I am almost finished the one bit of yarn on the hat and it won't be enough so had to hunt through more bits and bobs...found enough to finish it and use up even more yarn). Sent texts back and forth to youngest about when we would be arriving tomorrow, and made my list of what I want to bring.
Tonight I will make a list of the supplies I will need to finish off crafts over the winter. Life is good.

    God bless.

  7. I have purchased 5 Aldi Thanksgiving meals. Hopefully with some added items I can stretch it out to feed 17.
Cheryl, I do appreciate your writings so much, take care, Louise

    1. Wonderful! I have complete faith that you will be able to stretch it and feed even more if necessary. It is so nice you take care of feeding so many.
      Thank you so much!
