Free Produce Bags and Green TOO

I like using my cloth grocery bags as often as I can.  I have many and I keep them in the car and ready to go.
Anyone that goes to Kroger (and maybe affiliates) knows about the .99 clearance produce bins.  You can get all kinds of fresh produce for .99 a bag.  I have gotten huge baking potatoes (5) for .99.  I have gotten big bell peppers, apples, oranges, onions, etc.  The deals are always great.

Those little bags are super to re-use.  They are always tied shut.  I tear off the label at the bottom and re-use them any time I buy select produce.  They are kind of stretchy, so you can get a lot in them.  I keep them ready to go in the car as well.  They are easy to launder and can be used over and over.

See the white tag at the bottom?  I rip that off and it's ready to go again.
That little bundle in front is 6 bags - and yes they are held together with a 'broccoli' rubber band.  I keep everything!!!!

Just drop these into your grocery bag or your bag holder.  I have a huge bag that all my others fit in and I keep them at the ready in the back end of the Blazer.

So there you go.  Keep those bags and re-use.
These would also probably make great scrubbies for your pots and pans.  You could maybe use for soap scraps as a scrubber for garden/greasy hands or rough feet in the bath.
You could get creative and use these for all kinds of things.

Free and green today!

  1. Another "Duh" moment, Cheryl! When shopping at Kroger I always buy my produce in the mesh bags but never thought about reusing. Now I will. Sadly, the two Kroger stores here raised the price from $.99 to $1.49. Keep the wonderful posts coming! Shirley

    1. I do that (DUH) a lot!!!!! I guess the sign of the times, they will probably go up here as well. Still a pretty darn good deal most of the time.
      Thank you!

  2. Our grocery store doesn't sell anything in those bags, or for $.99 either. :( I do re-use the cellophane bags for storing leftovers like pizza, the 1/2 pack of salami (the rest in the freezer), and such. I wash and re-use these.

    1. I wash and re-use all that I can. Many citrus fruits come in mesh bags here as well. I just hate waste - and if we all do a little bit, it saves just a little.

  5. That is a great idea. Years ago I got these (see link) from Amazon. I get asked where I got them quite often. https://preview.tinyurl.com/y4a48t3r

    1. Thanks. I can not get that link to open. Perhaps you can explain what it is you are talking about.
      Thank you!

    2. They are drawstring bags made of a sheer curtain-type material. Washable and strong.
