Weekly Wrap Up 3/31

 HAPPY EASTER
Here we are on Sunday again, the last of the month.  It is Resurrection Day!  A very meaningful day for many.  I hope this day finds you well and safe.

As I sit here this morning looking out the window - all is greening so much!  The grass is vibrant.  Things are growing and trees are getting that glow of new growth.  The birds are singing.  It is starting out wet here - gray and gloomy looking - but it is a wonderful day that we have been given.

This week was kind of quiet and nice.  We had some pretty chilly days until the end of the week.  We look to have some cool days this next week as well - but they are shorter in duration and fewer!
Daylight hours last much later in the evenings, and the days are just getting nicer overall.

My week:
  • Did lots of laundry and totally changed out bedding to lighter weight bed linens
  • Been doing lots of cleaning and spring cleaning
  • I received a pretty homemade card from Cookie - THANK YOU!
  • I received a gift of a homemade bookmark from a neighbor
  • I went out on Wednesday with a friend.  We went to the conservatory and enjoyed all the beautiful tropical plants & they were also having a little 'gnome' show.  It is spring break week - and lots of kiddos.  We then went to lunch at a small diner and then on to a couple antique shops.  It was a fun day.
  • Mowed all the yard
  • Have done some yard work for spring - so much to do
  • Picked another bouquet - daffies, wild hyacinth, and tulips
  • I received a $1 bill in a survey sent to me.  Didn't do the survey, but I have a $1!!
  • Been using up.  I had a bit of pimento cheese and nacho cheese in frig - added to mac n cheese.  Eating leftovers
  • Got a b/s turkey breast out of freezer (came across it when I cleaned freezer) - baked yesterday for today (an other) meals
  • Made a diced cherry cake - un-iced.  I like it this way and less calories
  • Made a gallon of lemon water - so refreshing
  • Just doing all the normal stuff
  • Aired house yesterday - oh, it was wonderful!  Yesterday was about 100% perfect!
Meals this past week:
Spicey rice - w/added leftover meat/mushrooms, fresh veggies, and garlic toast
Leftover rice, asparagus, sauteed mushrooms
Baked spaghetti (freezer) and fresh veggies
Out to lunch at diner - meat loaf, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans
Smoked sausage, mac n cheese and asparagus
Pan seared fish, leftover mac, fresh veggies
Breaded burger w/cheese and oven fries

Yes, quiet but nice week.  I like those kind!  How was your week?  Did you do anything exciting this week?  Any great deals?  Having a special day for Easter?
I am having a quiet and reflective day here today.
I look forward to hearing from you all.  May you all have a wonderful day and if you are getting with family - please enjoy each moment.

I hope your upcoming week will be lovely, safe and healthy.  Wishing you and yours many blessings from my humble little home.

Dear Lord, thank you is not enough, but is all we can say.  Thank you for Your Son and our Savior and for the love that is spread over us each and every one.  We are not deserving, but we can try to live the life we should.  Thank you for forgiving us and for loving us and for this life we enjoy each day.
May the Glory of our Savior be spread to all, as we pray for this world.  AMEN

  1. Excellent prayer! Sometimes it is difficult to form the words and I always enjoy the way you speak to the Father. A blessed Resurrection Day to you!

Pretty bookmark! You have folks who love you!

Doing some work around the house as it is too wet to do much outside. I am helping Erin with her transportation to work until she can find a suitable car. That's hard when you have limited funds. We did work outside several days and had the back door open so the dogs could come and go.

Enjoy your day! See you Tuesday!

I hope she gets some insurance relief as well for her vehicle. I hope she finds something suitable and affordable.
It looks like we may be working inside for a few days this week. Oh well, much to do.
Have a wonderful day and a great week!

  6. Happy Easter, Cheryl. It sounds like a lovely week in your home. We've also been in use it up mode here. The days were more warm than chilly here this week, while Friday turned out to be the coldest day of the week. I've also switched to lighter bedding on my bed too and it feels so much better than the weight of heavy quilts and blankets. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

  7. Yes indeed, Happy Easter! The Lord is Risen!

My actual celebration was Saturday as I went to an all day hymn singing near Atlanta. It was wonderful!

  8. Happy Easter Cheryl, hope you have a good day today. We have been blessed with two dry days in a row :-)
Friday we look little Stitch back to our grandaughter, her and her partner are getting over Covid. They live in a flat and were feeling too rough to take his out for walks. Yesterday our youngest son, wife and 4 year old (youngest) grandaughter came for the day. She was proud to show us how she can ride her bike without stableizers.
It's lovely to hear the birds singing, a sign of spring. What a beautiful bookmark. Do you like reading!
Here's hoping the sun shines for you this week.

Glad your family is recovering and I bet they were glad to see their little Stitch! Oh how cute - such a proud moment - np stabilizer!
I do like to read, mainly lately it has only been the Bible - I haven't read many books for a while.
      Wishing you a wonderful week!

  9. Happy Peaceful and calm Easter to you Cheryl and all.
Family is having an Easter dinner at approximately 1:30 I have my contributions ready and just need to get myself ready.
It has been a pretty good week weatherwise for me also. I haven't yet changed to lighter bed linen, I am always running cold so a bit longer for me. I have been able to open windows and oh how I love the fresh air.
I have been busy outside also, moving mulch and getting flowerbeds ready as much as I can at this time.
I paid to have some shrub work done, I have good workers and I just can't do all of it anymore.
Looking forward to Spring and have been eating lighter foods. Pantry and freezers help so much, as soon as we can get the garden in and thriving the grocery stores won't be needed as much.
Have a Blessed day and week,
    JC

I like being a little cooler at night - so the lighter bedding works for me. Oh fresh air is just the best!!!!!
Sounds like you have kept busy. Some things we just can't do any more - that happens. I am glad you have found good workers.
I so look forward to all days being lovely and getting out more and more. Won't that be nice to have fresh garden goodies again?
      Have a fantastic week.

  11. Happy Easter Cheryl!! Sounds like you had a wonderful week. It makes me happy to hear you got out for a while with a friend. That is so good for our souls. All of your meals sound delicious as always. We spent a few hours yesterday and today working on the yard. It's been so nice out but now a strong line of storms are coming our way and I do not look forward to that. I hope this coming week is another great week for you!!

The yard work just feels so good. The much needed exercise and fresh air. Glad you could get out for a while. I hope the bad stuff misses you and your area. It is gorgeous at the moment, but they say storms later this evening. I hate nighttime storms!!!
Be safe and have a great week.

  12. Happy Easter, Cheryl and everyone. Your week looks wonderful and your meals delicious. We, too, are spending a quiet day at home some of which in reflection. It's sunny here and in the 60s, which will all change tonight. Back to cold and rainy all week. I did get out to the garden for a little while today and cleaned the weeds out of the containers and transplanted some volunteer romaine lettuce from a plant that went to seed last fall. I always feel closest to God in the garden.
It was busy here all week. The bedroom and master bath were painted, the part finally came in to repair the whole house generator so we had technicians here doing that, got a bit of shopping done for fresh veggies and surpassed my goal for Cards for Kindness by getting 60 Thinking of You cards done to send off to them this week. Cleaned the craft room, put everything back in place in the bedroom and bathroom. Watched a few painting videos on Youtube, did a little embroidery in the evenings. Made a spaghetti pie this week using spaghetti squash instead of pasta . It was delicious and used up a bunch of leftovers. Have a blessed day and week. Cookie

Glad you got to be out in the garden. Yes, I feel closer to God outside as well. All of His marvelous creations!
My goodness, you were busy. That is a lot accomplished in one week. Nice to have the painting done and to have the generator fixed - tis the time for storms!
Hope you continue to have such a good week this week. Have a lovely week.

  14. I got influenza A a month ago & was sick 2 weeks. The 3rd week I was exhausted and my stomach was a mess- I couldn't eat much. Last week I finally felt like I was recovering. And yesterday I finally felt 100% better! Yay! Half my family came for dinner last night & the other half for breakfast today! I enjoyed cooking and getting everything ready! It was wonderful to feel good again!

It's sunny today. But I see we're to get rain the next 3 days. I was hoping for sunny days. Oh well I have so much to catch up on & I'm looking forward to doing it all. Lol

    Happy Easter!

We have 3 days of rain coming too. Oh well, plenty inside to do.
      Have a fantastic week!!

  15. Quiet and yet not quiet as Kris was home, and I was a bit worried for Kurt. Seems they missed a connecting flight and so he and the students were stuck in Frankfurt overnight. I was worried they would have to catch up with their tour, turns out the whole group was stuck in Frankfurt.
I did up my budget for the month and we were under by a bit. Always a good thing. However I will be working on getting it even better.

Wish we could open our windows, but things are definitely looking up for the coming week.

    God bless.

      Have a lovely week.

  16. He is risen! Spring is springing all around us, just like you said. The birds are singing (so good to hear them back), our grass is just hinting at green, wild wisteria is blooming as are hyacinths and daffs.
We’ve had windy days of late, 40 mph gusts…we enjoy it as long as no one gets hurt.
DH went to church this a.m, while I got to cook our dinner and watch our pastor in California on YouTube (David Jeremiah - good sermon on the importance of the Resurrection .) So, I had a wonderful time with my sweet Savior this morning.
I roasted a corned beef brisket in the crock pot yesterday, made deviled eggs Friday, and today just roasted Brussels sprouts, yams and golden potatoes in the crock pots. Made some Sunshine carrots for DH as he introduced them to me when we were newlyweds. Tried my hand at a balsamic glaze for the sprouts. Twas easy and good.
Got most of my recipes from YouTubers this year😋
Happy Easter, Cheryl. Your outing sounds fun!

Firstly, I wanted to ask. Elise and Frances? I haven't seen any posts. I was almost afraid to ask.

    Happy Easter!
A perfect spring day here. Church was packed this morning. Lots of visitors. I had a front row seat to a game of "I'm not touching you!", in which a 5 yo was waving the music book in front of the 7 yo's face to annoy him. I'm guessing the ages. After the 3rd or 4th time, the older one hollers, "STOP IT!" and the young one looks at mom in fear lol. So, she got up and sat between them, which was standard in my day lol. Not me, as I went alone with my grands and was a mouse.

I planned a very simple meal of a baked ham, savory sweet potatoes, sliced pineapple, and I forgot a green veggie!! Hubs was happy, as he considers French fries a vegetable lol. No dinner lol. Moo. Everything was on sale so it was less than $20 and that ham will last a long while and the bone will make a delicious ham and bean soup later, as well.

Now it's peaceful, the kitchen is tidy, and the dishwasher is humming away. I suspect we'll sleep like rocks tonight!

I had a week of little sleep, I was so tired, and my knee pain amped up after a cold snap. Not a good week so I'm happy that it ended on a good note. Buy, boy do I have my work cut out for me this week.

That sounds like kids - I had to chuckle. Mom should have taken that seat right off the bat!
Your meal sounds lovely and wow, what a great price. The gift that keeps on giving. Hey, French fries are a veggie - I agree! Potatoes are a veggie!! LOL
Get some rest and don't over do it.
      Have a great week.

  18. Happy Easter/Spring. I spend ~4hrs/day at the nursing home with mom. The GI bleed is resolving but mom is refusing meds & food for the most part. Maybe the end is near? I just don't know. Taxes are done. That's always a sign of spring. The hot water tank has been replaced. I got to my son's place 4 hrs away. My youngest granddaughter competed at the western AA ringuette tournament & won a silver medal. This morning while eating bkft, a moose sauntered in front of their house. And we saw robins, a sure sign of spring. In the kitchen: cauliflower soup, tikka masala pizza, roasted veg & pork chops. I took a lemon cream cheese pie to my son's. And that brings March to a close.

Yes, spring is in the air - slow and steady it is coming.
Wow a moose! I can not even imagine that!
      Your meals sound lovely.
