Words to End the Week

Hello all.  Hope you are all well.  It is a beautiful morning here.  The sun is shining, and it is warmer - about 40*.  Looks like it may get in the 50's today with NO rain!  Yesterday we had some rain, and in the afternoon, there were even some big old wet snowflakes in the mix.
The next few days should be nicer, with maybe a few showers over the weekend.  I hope to get out and mow at the end of the week again.  It sure needs it.

We all have setbacks in life, some bigger than others.  Stuff happens - but we just can't let it stop us and get us down too badly.  We pick up and continue to go forward.  We find a way.  We cannot change what HAS happened, but we can change our future.  That is one thing that we can all do - maybe in baby steps, maybe in big strides - but we work hard and go on.

I love this meme.  It is so true.  YOU have to take care of YOU!  When you take care of yourself, you are kind of taking care of those around you.  A happier you means a happier world around you!

Get up every day and do something!  Stay as physical as possible.  Clean, plant, do laundry, do yard work, walk, or just exercise a little - whatever you are able to do.  Got to take care of these bodies!

Mind your "head"!  Try to stay positive and not dwell on negative and bad thoughts.  Do not put negative out in the world.  Mind your thoughts and words - everyday!!!!  You CAN control that.  Only you can control that.  When you spread negativity, it touches everyone around you.  Sure, crap happens, but you can dwell on the positive instead of the negative.  It will change everything about you!

Finances - well, we do what we can.  We have big expenses happen, and that isn't easy.  We are here because we are frugal and thrifty people.  That is why I am frugal - so I can confront those spendy days/weeks.  If I mind my money today - it will HELP me tomorrow.  It may not solve the problem, but it can help!
I know it hurts, but not every day in life is perfect.  Sometimes we have to pull the belt tighter, simplify more, and learn new (old) ways.  I hear a lot of complaints about that, that it simplifies it all too much.  Well, I was raised to put in the work and get a positive return.  So, it is just a way of life for me.  Some need to look at things differently.  Quit making things harder than they have to be.

Blessings - count them every single day!!!!!  No matter what your day or week brings to you - it brings good and blessings as well.  It may be something simple as a kind word, or it may be a blessing of bill paid off, or a job offer, or an accident missed, or the beauty of nature.  EVERY single day is special.  Make sure you give thanks on a regular basis.  Be good and kind and watch it happen to you as well.  I am a huge believer in you reap what you sow.

Today is a new day - make it a good day.  As it states in the first meme, you can't change yesterday, no matter how badly you wish you could.  It is the past.  Today is all you can count on - and that is moment by moment.  No one knows how much time they have - so make it good while you can.  I sure don't want people to say "she sure was a negative Nelly on her last day".  I'd prefer they think of me in a kind way - because that means I made a nice impact on this world and/or them.

You control you.  Be the best you can be.  Physically, mentally and to the world.  Do not put bad energy out to the world or in your home.  Be the light that everyone needs.  Help keep your neighborhood a nice place.  Help your family and friends when they need a boost or a positive word.  Help a stranger once in a while.  Learn new ways to make your life a little simpler and easier.  Smile, laugh, enjoy!
Just do all you can do to be a better you.

I, like you, have had s**t happen in my life.  BIG s**t!!!!  It stinks.  But how I respond is everything.  I pull up my big girl panties, reset my thoughts, rest a little, then get busy and move forward.  Wallowing in the S isn't going to help me in anyway whatsoever.
I do understand much of what others go through - been there and done that.  That is the only reason I offer advice.

I send you off with prayers for a lovely day and a beautiful weekend.
Sending love to you all.

  2. This post has lots of thoughtful points! I totally agree with your Anonymous guest: "You are so wise and sensible and friendly". We all need a "coach" or mentor. The fact that you rely on your faith is a giant plus! The Farmer listens to a man on YouTube who is all doom and gloom. I agree that we need to know what is happening in the world so that we are prepared, but he doesn't know the Messiah, which is evident in the way he talks.

A guy pulled out of a side street off Rockville Road right in front of Erin and she couldn't stop. Her air bags deployed. The fella drove off, didn't even stop. Her neighbor was behind her and she saw where the guy went and hopefully they can find him. We are doubting if he had: 1. insurance; 2. a driver's license; 3. possibly illegal; 4. had a warrant out on him; 5. impaired in some way. She is blessed that she wasn't injured and was able to get to the rental place on 16th Street before they closed to get a car. There was a two car accident on Rockville and Reagan (I think) a couple days ago and all the people in the cars died except one.

My main focus in life is my eternity and salvation, taking care of the temple so that I can have the strength to take care of myself, family and home, mental wellness (which is vital), being a good steward of what the Father has given us and counting my blessings. All of this goes toward becoming a better person. We have encountered two gentlemen who do things to bless people. Of course, that is what Nathanael, our mechanic does; the fellow who came with his riding mower with vacuum on the back to sweep up the dastardly sweet gum balls is another. He said he does it to bless people. He didn't want to be paid, but we gave him a love gift which he could pass on to someone in need.

As you say, guano happens! Clean that mess up and move on!

Enjoy your weekend! Hugs for Bits!

    1. Thank you. I do not know where I would be without my faith - somewhere not good. Faith sustains me.
I listen and read the news as well - but I refuse to watch the doom & gloom You Tubers anymore. It serves no purpose whatsoever, except to cause strife. It seems some people just thrive in negativity.
I am so glad your daughter is OK. Goodness, there are so many people out there who do not follow the road rules or care if they hurt someone. Our city sure has a lot of hit and runs that are fatal.
Indeed, eternity and salvation, is what matters above all. Doing good for others is just so wonderful. Sounds like you know some good people.
Yes mam, all we can do is shovel it up and keep going!
      Thanks!

  5. Hope they can find the hit-and-run guy. And that insurance will pay for the fix on the car. Glad Erin wasn't hurt.

Yes, "take care of yourself" is a good first step! Being grateful is my last effort before sleep every night. There is *always* something good. :)

    1. It sure is. We need to be kinder to ourselves and realize sometimes we just can't do it all. We can try our darndest, but we often need to ask for help. That is OK.
As I pray every night and every morning I give thanks for so much. I say a prayer of thanks every time I go out and get home safe as well. Life is good.

  6. I am traveling. There are times that I really feel my age but I keep going. Today I was blessed to have lunch with a woman I met 6 years ago, the church secretary of the church where my great-great grandparents were married. What a fun day. Life is good.

    1. Heck yes, we all feel our age at times. I know I do - but you keep going any how! That is wonderful.
What a neat, neat thing - someone from that same church. That is just too cool. Glad you get to travel.
You know I have a friend from school, who through research went to Europe where her gr gr grandparents were from, and her and her husband renewed their vows in the same church over there. That was cool.
      Safe travels and enjoy!!!

  7. I need to spend more time on myself, I know that, but other things get in the way. The weather is much more conducive to walking right now and I will get out even if it is only for a short walk around the block.

I hope that the hit and run driver is found. I had that happen to me in a parking lot and no one was around to see where the guy went.

You have a great day Cheryl.

    God bless.

    1. I think as the weather changes, it will be easier to get out and walk. We just need to stay active in some way.
      Thanks, you too.

    1. Life puts us on so many journeys, and we need to go through them with grace. It just makes it easier. Making ourselves upset and others as well, sure does no good.
      Thank you!

  9. Just love this post, every word is so very true.
The hardest for me is to remember that you can not change the past.
One that I mastered years ago, though it definitely took me a while, was that I control me. I can't control other people even my children but I can control my reaction and actions.

    1. I know we all wish we could change some things in the past, but that isn't possible. It all makes us who we are today.
Yes, our reactions and actions are what we control - pretty much nothing else. We can make each day great or miserable. I choose great.

    1. You are welcome. We can make our little part of the world better if we try. Can't change others, but we can make today good for us.

  11. So true! And I have learned one of the best ways to accomplish these things is to stay away from negative people who would otherwise drag you down or distract you from your goals. That is why I am so happy at home, doing all the home-centered stuff, caring for our household. I think we have a refuge in our pursuits.

    1. Home is definitely a refuge! I agree. When around negative people or reading a ton of negative stuff, I can see a difference in me. It sure can bring me down. I stay away from it as much as possible too.

We all experience bad stuff - but if we can turn it around and advise someone else or help them - then something good comes from it. I have always been told, something good comes from all bad. I believe it IF we pay attention and share.
I am glad it helped you. Sorry any of us have had to go through that.
