Hello to all on this Thursday. Hope you are well and safe and warm.
As I stated in a comment - the weather is about to get frightful for much of the country! It sounds like a doozy!
Yesterday was in the 40's, although windy. The sun was shining. This morning the sunrise made the sky look beautiful. The wind has died down some, but so have the temps. It is low 20's at the moment and getting colder for a few hours. The sun is out - a blessing.
It sounds like this weekend will be awful for many. We are kind of on the border of some and lots of snow. It will be brutal cold with highs in single digits, low teens for a few days. I pray everyone stays safe and indoors.
Yes please!!!!!! I think many of us are feeling this way about now!!!!! I hate to wish my life away, but yes, I am ready for spring. At least warmer temps and no snow.I will not add to it.
My life is precious, your life is precious - don't let people bring you down. I know it is hard to do, but we have to work on it. I will be turning off the computer and the TV most of the time. No, I will not be a hermit - I am very aware of what is happening around the world. I do not need others' negativity to stay informed.
Do your best to take care of yourself, your home and your family and your space. That is all you have to do.
You can be prepared for anything without being a Debbie Downer to others.
Find the best of each day to ponder, love and share. If each one does that, it will make everything nicer.
My home is my world. I will protect it and myself - my boundaries. I choose joy and happiness and will look for it in ALL places.
I place myself in God's protections, and I have tremendous faith that He is with me always.
I hope you can choose happiness as well. Turn off the negative and look for good.
I pray for all this weekend. I hope everyone gets to keep their power and that your homes and cities are free of bad ice storms. Stay in and stay safe. Do not try to test Mother Nature!
I hope they are wrong, and this event isn't as bad as they predict.
Do you have your eggs, milk, bread and TP????? LOL
I ran out for a few minutes yesterday, not even thinking about this weekend, and couldn't believe how crowded the stores were! People act like they will be stuck at home for months! Around here, that isn't going to happen.
BE SAFE! BE JOYFUL! BE HAPPY!
Don't let anyone steal your joy, set your boundaries.
THIS IS A SAFE PLACE!!!!!!!
(no politics)

I've been watching the weather channel and I pray everyone will be prepared and safe in the upcoming storm. We have had a lot of fog this month. I could use some sun.
ReplyDeleteWe have had more sun than usual for January - maybe we are about to pay for it. I sure hope not. I don't care about me - or going any place - I worry about the animals.
DeleteIt sounds like it could be bad in some places.
I also found stores were jammed with people and what they were buying was buggies full of food. I hope the power stays on for them all. I have canned food, my wood stove, and coolers to put my frozen food in if the power goes. They can live on the back porch and stay cold.
ReplyDeleteThe big trick will be the water... to keep pipes from freezing with no heat. Hmm.
I hope the forecast is exaggerated and not accurate. So far it seems different every time I check it. Good luck, y'all!
MaryB
I agree - it seems different each time I listen.
DeleteMaybe wrap those pipes as well as can be. Even towels or blankets around them would help. I sure hope it doesn't get that bad. Stay safe.
I have heard that keeping a tiny dribble of water going keeps pipes from freezing. Never been in that situation so don’t know if this is true.
DeleteWhile I can agree with your philosophy, it's hard staying positive when so many people don't believe other people are as worthy as themselves to God's protection and actively hurt others. The cold is going my to test resiliency for sure.
ReplyDeleteActively hurting someone is all kinds of wrong. What others think or believe doesn't bother me at all. What they think or believe is not my problem. They can go jump - family, friends, whoever.
DeleteYou are worthy of all of God's protections - don't ever forget that.
I'm with you, Sam. I'm all about protecting peace and finding joy but that is a heavy privilege with all this horror. Hard to find balance
DeleteFabulous, fabulous post! Kind of reminds me of a person who is feeling really good, upbeat, and some evil person says, "Are you okay? You don't look like you feel well." Don't let those negative folks steal your peace and joy. Anyone who reads Revelation knows that things are going to get pretty bad before our Messiah returns. Our faith and trust is in Him. Your blog is a safe place.
ReplyDeletePartly sunny right now and we are praying that the snow is not as bad as the forecast. I read a lady's blog and they live not too far from the 100 car pileup in Michigan. People are probably out buying bread and Pepsis. Our oldest lives in a suburb of Dallas and their weather is not their normal winter. I think that most people who read your posts are well prepared for emergencies. See what a good teacher you are? I'm with Miss MaryB...hope the forecast is exaggerated and not accurate.
I agree - never let someone rob you of peace and joy.
DeleteTx. sure isn't used to this kind of weather. Every few years they get a big dose, and those I know, don't handle it well. I sure hope everyone is as prepared as can be. I have no plans to go any where, but I do worry about the animals. Sure wish I had a place that they could all be indoors - but there are so many outdoors.
YES MAM - let us pray is will not be nearly what they 'predict'.
I stayed with my daughter and son-in-law for 4 days over the weekend. It was only when I got back that I realised I hadn't heard or watched any news broadcasts while I was there. I came back so relaxed and energised. Unfortunately I also came back with a cold, so the energy levels plummeted very quickly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for verifying that it does change our stress levels. That peace is priceless. Get to feeling better and heal quickly!
DeleteExcellent post Cheryl. Have a wonderful day. Jean
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean. Appreciate you being here.
DeleteThis, my good lady, is 100% truth. This is the first post I have read since before Christmas ( I have a lot of catching up to do) and I LOVE it, so very true.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe this weekend, take care, Louise.
I have had you on my mind a lot lately! Glad to see you post. You have been missed.
DeleteYes, please take a rest and catch up. Always something fun to read.
Take care and be safe.
This is spot on Cheryl. What others say or do or think has no impact on me. I choose to be positive and find the joy even when it is during a difficult time.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the 10-12 inches of snow area for this weekend. The temperatures are supposed to be brutally cold the last week of January, so what we get won't be melting like it normally does. We'll see if they are correct. I will be hibernating at home and hopefully with power so I can bake.
Lori that is how I feel as well. I have had family members who treated me so nasty - but I rose above it and showed that kindness is bigger. I never regretted walking away from them for my own sanity.
DeleteOh gosh, that is a lot of snow. I pray we are on the outer fringes and just get a little bit. The cold temps will be sticking around for a good week or so. The map for Feb. looks decent on temps - here's hoping.
Stay in and stay safe and warm. I sure hope you don't have it that bad!!!!!!!!! Good luck.
Best Wishes to you all in North America, in surviving the current weather.
ReplyDeleteSo true about finding joy in every little thing. I was at the bus stop a few weeks ago and a man I know was talking to someone else, and he introduced me to him along the lines of ... and she doesn't complain. I actually do sometimes, but try to save it for the important things in life.
Thank you - it is going to be a nasty weekend for many people.
DeleteWhat a nice compliment. I think we all complain some - but you are so correct - save it for the big stuff. Not everything is worth commenting on. Just smile, grit your teeth sometimes and go on.
Enjoy your warm!!!!
I hope you miss the worst of the weather. Here we are now really in the midst of the Arctic deep freeze. I actually got the gumption and made a cake today. It made me happy to smell it baking.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hope so too Jackie, but I don't know. Still going to be frigid, and I bet we get some snow.
DeleteI bet the house smelled amazing. I love the smell of fresh baked goods. Stay warm and cozy.
I am not going to stop watching the news and speaking out about the injustice I see around me. I was raised to be always truthful and lying and meanness infuriates me.
ReplyDeleteI had a good day meeting with my realtor, finally. We worked together years ago in another life. She helped me transport the old chair I’m saving back to my current house today, also. For years she has run a dog rescue and has been in the news recently about helping a dozen sick abandoned dogs before Christmas and is now involved in helping state prosecutors put a terrible puppy mill couple behind bars. For helping me with the chair, I gave her $100 for her dog rescue. She is an amazing person - and a good realtor, too.
Hopefully the storm will not be as bad as predicted. When I lived in the north, it was the ice that scared me.
I can't stand lying and meanness as well. I just don't need to see it all the time.
DeleteGlad you had a great day with the realtor. Glad you got your chair and how sweet to help her rescue. What a great thing she is doing. That is such a wonderful thing.
I hope it isn't as bad - but it isn't going to be fun for tons of people. I worry about all the animals.
Ready for the snow, love a good snow for the kids to play in. We rarely get more than an inch or so. As it gets closer though we have ice warnings as well. Do not like that. That can get very dangerous. Hoping no downed trees or prolonged power outages, but I'm getting everything ready in case. Right now it's showing negative digits a couple of nights next week. Hopefully if something happens the electric company can get most people's power back on before then, but there's a lot of rural areas and mountains so it takes a long time to get them taken care of.
ReplyDeleteI went to Walmart twice this week after my physical therapy appointments and it was insane. The first time because I had a prescription ready and the second time because my oldest and husband needed new gloves for going out in the snow so I did pick up a gallon of milk as we were running low. Eggs were gone and I couldn't even see down the bread aisle, but I'll make a homemade loaf tomorrow. I told my husband it was Christmas style crazy, no carts and ridiculously crowded. I feel sorry for the workers.
I read that the amount of ice coming will be catastrophic, hope people have their preps ready. I'm not in the country during the winter but if I were, I'd be worried about the power grid holding up
ReplyDeleteJESS, for some reason this morning I am not able to post a proper replay with your comment.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that this will be playing outside snow - it will be so cold. I sure hope it isn't what they keep saying. Ice is awful - hope you don't get a lot of that. It will be a mess is power goes out to a lot of areas - it will take time to restore.
I think the stores were in over drive again - mention snow and people go crazy. Mention winter storm and Katy bar the door - it is just nuts. People act like they will be stuck for a month! Stay safe and warm.
ANONYMOUS - it doesn't look good. It sure is going to affect a lot of people. Scary stuff. I think many will lose power due to ice. Be happy you aren't here right now!
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here in Michigan already this morning. Brr ...stay warm as you can Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteVIVKIE - cold here as well and the bad part it will be colder in the next few days. Take care and stay safe.
