Hello to all and happy Sunday! I hope you are all safe and healthy and warm.
We are now half past the midway mark of the month - it is flying by.
It is a cold morning here. In the teens and only going into the 20's today - but dry.
I was looking at a weather calendar for this month, and it doesn't look too bad, until the very end of the month - and then it looks terribly frigid! I hope that all changes before then.
This week has been a 'just doing' kind of week. Taking care of the home has been my job.My frugal week:
- I met with my financial guy here at the house. Things are good
- I cut my hair here at home
- Did several little repairs
- I did get to work outside in the yard a little over 2 days
- I waxed the cabinets and all the wooden furniture
- Did a bit of baking - cookies that go in the holiday bags for kids, and baked goods for today's gathering
- Paid all bills I had over the phone
- Pretty much finished the 'deep' cleaning of the main floor (basement is another world!)
- I did run to the store for slider buns and street taco tortillas this week. I also got a few fresh veggies - that is it
Meals this past week: (kept it simple)
L/O mac & cheese in a quesadilla and a salad
Big omelet in a tortilla wrap and sausage patties
Smoked sausage sandwich and veggies
Big salad, l/o rice
Baked spaghetti (made in air fryer), veggies
Baked spaghetti, fruit
Steamed broc./cauliflower, smoked sausage
There you go. Just getting my home in order as I can. I need to get busy on that basement after a few days of rest. Also need to work on the extended pantry and reorganize and clean it all.
Lots of indoor work can be done during the winter, so that we stay productive and active.
Today is my family gathering here with my niece and nephews. I so look forward to it. Everything is ready - spent a lot of time yesterday getting food started or made.
I may not be back on to answer comments until tomorrow - depends on how tired I am tonight!
I wish you each a safe week and please stay healthy and warm. If you are getting bad winter weather stay safe.
Blessings to you and yours from me at my humble little home.

This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24
Lord, I pray that we are thankful for all that we receive each and every day. That we realize what gifts You present us daily. Thank You. Please continue to lay healing upon each person that is need. So many need Your healing touch in so many ways. Prayers for our country and our world. AMEN

Yes, there is so much we can do inside to keep us busy during these cold winter days. I kept busy yesterday up and down the stairs taking stuff downstairs. I need to work downstairs, but want to wait until it warms up a little bit first. I hope you have a wonderful visit with your family today!

Up and down the stairs is a lot of exercise too! I can keep busy every day if I choose! I just don't always choose.
DeleteThanks, it was great.
Have a wonderful week.
Enjoy your family gathering today, Cheryl. Lots of prep in hosting but so satisfying. The freezer got defrosted in time for the chicken pick up this week. Lots of logistics as I order & deliver to 5 other families. The fellow who hunts on my property gifted me elk hamburger, sausage, jerky & fish. Enjoyed supper & cards with a friend. The neighbor little spent a day with me. We made a snowman; such fun. The next day, the wind came up - I don't know where that hat is! I had a "veg" day where I just laid around. Maybe there is no "nothing" because I was resting & rejuvenating. That's something. In the kitchen: cabbage soup, cornbread, rhubarb muffins.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the freezer done. Lot is a lot of work to do that for so many. What a great gift - all that wonderful meat.
DeleteHow fun with the little neighbor. His hat is probably in Oz now!
I am going to have one of those days tomorrow - this girl is beat. Happy but beat. Yes, resting and rejuvenating is a big something and often needed.
Mmmmm that all sounds good.
Have a great week.
Excellent devotional! Yes, we need to be thankful in all things.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed how much you accomplish in a week. And prepare full meals, not open a can of whatever. I know you will enjoy your family today, and they will enjoy your company.
See you Tuesday!
I don't always feel like I accomplish a lot. Cooking is easy and quick with me - so that isn't a biggy.
DeleteWe have a wonderful time together - it was such a nice visit - not nearly long enough!
Have a wonderful week.
I've been working on cleaning up computer files. Oooof. I think the worst is over, at last. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that "rejoice and be glad in it" verse. Should probably paste it on my bathroom mirror, as this season it's easy for me to slide into the dumps, missing the sun and the warmth.
Enjoy your family party, sounds like a great day. :)

That is a big job. I need to sit one day and clean up my computer some.
DeleteYou are probably right - that would be a great one for the bathroom mirror - see it first thing every morning.
We had a ball. Just not long enough.
Have a beautiful week.
I finally got my shower door installed so it is now finished and I can relax a bit. He put in a new to holder I purchased for the side of the cabinet. It’s a tight spot. Also he put up a new towel bar. I’m glad I didn’t try removing the one my mom or dad put up because even he had a hard time removing it.
ReplyDeleteStarted downloading tax stuff but I know I won’t get everything until the deadline (or after) at the end of the month.
Donated a coffee table I had used for a TV stand at the old house. I remember when I bought it at a church rummage sale for $3. It was heavy but I got it into the car. Separately I donated vertical blinds opened but never used by mom. They were uncut so long but I got them into the car.
Changed my Safari settings to turn off cross-site tracking as one of several security measures and to prevent so much spam advertising (not from here but from every retailer or product I search.) So my posts will now be as “anonymous” but I’ll put my name. Barbara M
Enjoy your nieces and nephews, Cheryl. You are lucky to have such a lot of lovely relatives.
DeleteGlad the bathroom is done! Yes relax a little.
DeleteI have only gotten a part of my tax stuff - not really worried. I will get them done before April!!!
Nice donations - they make someone's day.
Thanks for listing a name when posting under anonymously.
We had a great time. Thanks.
Have an awesome week.
Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you - it was awesome. We had so many laughs and such a great time.
DeleteHave a beautiful week.
I've been working around the house in my spare time cleaning and organizing. I want to be ready to spend time outside by the end of March. Enjoy your day with your family!! I'm sure it will be a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to get all the inside stuff done, so that spring is for all the good outside stuff!
DeleteThanks - it was just great.
Have a lovely week.
Have a fun day with your family! XXXXX
ReplyDeleteThank you - it was so much fun.
DeleteHave a great week.
Hope you have a great time with your family.
ReplyDeleteMore doctor and physical therapy visits this week. Now apparently high cholesterol and my heart just beats a lot faster than it should. More pills.
I cut my own hair. I dug out an unopened tens unit I had purchased many years ago online when I was just trying to use up FSA funds before I lost them. They use one at physical therapy and it seems to help a bit. Borrowed books at the library. Made carrot cake with old carrots. Cashed out a $20 Amazon gift card. My youngest needed more clothes but instead of buying any, I dug into his extras in bigger sizes I have picked up cheaply over time. Even kid clothes are all made differently and some of them fit him just fine and saves me from having to spend a lot on new items.
Thank you - it was fun.
DeleteSirry to hear about more health issues and doctor visits.
Sounds like you found some very good ways to stretch the budget this week. You get so creative.
Have a great week.
Ah—basement cleaning! I really need to get back at declutterring my basement. I have homeschool materials left from 25 years of homeschooling my children—and since my profession is a teacher, I kept things “in case” I went back into classroom teaching after finishing homeschooling. But God has led me to a different job, and I am enjoying it greatly so it is not looking like I am going back into the classroom after all. Time to sort through those tubs and bins! I have started some, but it is slow going for sure!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a big job. I bet there are many that could use those items and you might just bless them.
DeleteI dread the basement - 40 years of accumulation and stuff - big job. How many times I have gone down - look around and come back up!! LOL It is daunting.
Have a good week.
With the weather being pretty frigid here, staying in and doing things around the house only makes sense. That, and working on my various projects of course.
ReplyDeleteWe stay safe and warm that way.
God bless.
I am sorry your weather is so nasty. Being inside is the smart place to be. Yes, winter gives us a good amount of time get those 'I don't want to do' jobs done. I guess we can call it motivation!!!
DeleteHave a super week. Stay warm.
I hope you and your family had a lovely time! Also glad you were able to get outside a couple of times before the cold weather set in! It's been very cold here, too. I am so looking forward to spring! Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful day with your family. I'm sure they enjoyed your hospitality!
ReplyDeleteJust getting ready for WW3 here, nothing big.
