Hello and happy Sunday to all. I sure hope this finds you all well and safe on this fine day.
In the U.S. it is Father's Day - I am a believer that Mom's and Dad's should be remembered and honored ALL the time - not just on one special day. Today is summer solstice in the northern hemisphere - officially summer, and the longest daylight day of the year!
There sure was some nasty weather this week all over the place. Southern IN had a LOT of damage, and the Governor has declared a lot of counties disaster areas. It is so sad to see the damage, but heartwarming to know that no one died and that people have been helping people. We have more storms coming in tonight - but they are not supposed to be anything like we had earlier. Looks like the coming week will have highs right around 80*F all week.
Another quiet week - which I love.- More weeding, pulling, and cutting this week - it never ends
- Had lunch out with grade school gals
- Mowed and trimmed everything
- Made more hummingbird feed and cleaned feeders and all the watering holes
- Lots of walks
- Got to have friend and family catch-up this week
- Picked up lots of sticks from storms
- Ran to the feed store
- Got gas while out for the feed store - 2.34/gal. with my discount
- Been using rain barrels for watering pots when not raining
- Started a jar of lemon extract from my lemon balm
- I did pick my first tomatoes!
- AC off about 95% of the week
- NO grocery this week
- Had a sweet craving one afternoon - made a couple chocolate topped graham crackers (using choc chips in micro). Nice treat!
Meals this week: (simple)
Chef salad
Beef hot dogs and fresh veggies
Out to lunch (MCL)
Beef & cheese quesadilla
Cheesy Brat, fresh veggies & watermelon
Tuna/egg salad with crackers, veggies
Dirty rice, salad
Life is quiet and simple here - I am not sure what has really changed - but this summer feels so calm and nice. I really enjoy the peace it all brings.
The kitties are doing good and growing - 4 weeks old now!
What has been going on with you all? I am missing some of you - it has been a while. Please check in and lets us know that you are ok! What is going on in your part of the world this week - gardening, shopping, healing?
I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead and that you all stay healthy and have a week of goodness.
Blessings to you and yours from my humble little home.

And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:9
Dear Lord, through all bad things and illnesses this week, You have also delivered blessings and good. Thank You for all. Help guide us each to be better people and to do good deeds and have kind words for all, even those that speak against us. Let me and each of us to be Your representatives here on earth and to be kind and spread love and joy to all. Please continue to lay Your healing hands upon all in need. AMEN

Quiet is good. In between the >3" of rainfall, the lawn has been cut & trimmed, the tomatoes hoed & cages put in. I see a deer has messed in the veg garden but the cucumber plants have survived. Rhubarb was picked & turned into 3 pies & a few qts of juice. I shared the pie with a friend who came to play cards one afternoon. My son hit a moose on his way to work in this area so there was a sleepless night & a flurry of activity as he transferred all his equipment to my truck. He said - it's taking a village to get me back to work today. And I was reminded of your previous post - a smile and a helping hand. As a rig welder he's reliant on his truck to make a living. I bought a "new" used vehicle this past wk; that takes a lot of time & energy & hopefully won't have to think about buying a vehicle for another 10 yrs. I'll take possession later this wk. I started the prep work on a scarecrow that the neighbor little will help me finish for her garden. It all starts with "I have an idea!" I went to a relative's bridal shower with a coffee theme - love is brewing. Fun. Met folks & found out we knew people lin common - 6 degrees of separation. In the kitchen: beans & rice; hot dog & coleslaw; bbq pork chops & coleslaw; egg salad. Have a good week, Cheryl & all.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a task doing yardwork between raindrops - huh? Oh gosh, hate that your son hit a moose - those things are huge. Yes, it takes a village and he is lucky to have one. You must have a lot of rhubarb.
DeleteYay, on a new to you vehicle. That is exciting.
It is amazing how small the world really is - seems we always find someone who knows someone.......
Hotdogs must have been a thing this week.
Have a special week.
Sounds like you had a great week! We have had a LOT of rain but nothing like south Mississippi… yikes! My yard needs mowing but it is a sloppy wet mess. No air on this week, just the fan and windows up, depending on how hard it was raining! I am hoping my electric bill is low. I have been running the fan 24/7 so we will see. I have walked an hour a day. between rain showers. I have to be careful and not slip down in the mud. Have a beautiful week! Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteIt is tough getting mowing done between rains. I keep my ceiling fans on 24/7 pretty much all year. No big difference in the bill.
DeleteBe careful on those walks - you don't want to get hurt.
Have a lovely week.
Oh, I love this devotional! Keep on doing good, for the rewards will be well worth your effort. However, we do not perform acts of service to receive anything, but to be obedient to the Father.
ReplyDeleteYou have ripe tomatoes! Ours aren't quite that far along. Several of the tomato plants looked like they were wilting, about to die. The Farmer trimmed off the bad leaves and they have all recovered nicely. Have some baby cucumbers on the vines. Pulling turnips, which are always good. The red raspberry plants are going nuts, lots of berries. The Farmer had his first blackberry this morning. Plants are loaded. We don't make jams, so the excess will be frozen to enjoy this winter.
I bet those kittens are adorable. Hope you can catch mommy to prevent any more babies. Erin had to put down her 19 year old cat, Howie. She got him from Randy's dad (Randy was her housemate a few years back before he died), so she buried him at Randy's sister's place close to Knightstown. They live in the country and have an animal cemetery....a couple of horses and various pets who have passed over the years. Randy and Rubi's dad was an Indianapolis policeman and worked the Sylvia Likens case back in the '60's.
It is a beautiful day! Have some marked down plants from Walmart to plant. Other than that, a peaceful and restful day.
Enjoy your day, you and your kitty city. See you on Tuesday!
I was so excited to see the cherry toms. They are loaded with green ones. Neat on the baby cukes and the berries.
DeleteMommy Pip is getting closer to me by the day. She lets pet her babies with only a little hiss! I actually petted her yesterday - so once they are weened, I think we can make it happen.
Sorry about your daughter's kitty. 19 is pretty old.
It is lovely right now - have been out in the yard already. Enjoy your day and week.
OMGoodness... my son just brought me a flashdrive of pictures that belonged to my brother who died in 2018. He had served in WW2 and there were pictures of that, plus his highschool and college years, and family vacations up north when I was a tiny child! Amazing. They're now on my computer. :) Happy Dance!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week, I must say it is starting out with a bang here. :)
MaryB
What a wonderful gift and find for the entire family. Years and years ago, Glen took all family pics from my mom and his folks and put them on the computer. I also have a couple of flash drives. Such a wonderful thing to be able to look back at all of those memories. I am so happy for you to have those!!!
DeleteYes mam, your week has started with a bang.
Hope the rest is just as blessed and wonderful.
I am in the process of organizing photos so they can be digitized. Please everyone write places, names, and dates on your photos. I am wondering these things! My memory is on holiday.
DeleteCheryl, I’m glad that your summer is more peaceful this year and glad your storms have calmed down. Tomatoes look good! My Scotland trip is going well so far.
ReplyDeleteThe flight was very tiring and even though I try to keep up with technology it’s dizzying how quickly things change at airports. I’m happy with my hotel (breakfast included) and day trips. (Local bus was 45 minutes late on one trip - didn’t matter to me - and without asking they sent me an email saying they were crediting me for the whole amount. Used a “day ticket” yesterday to save $$.) Many museums are free. It’s fun chatting with local people. I’ll catch a train to a new location tomorrow. Barbara M.
I am not sure what changed (must be me), but this year is just calm.
DeleteWhat a fantastic trip. I would want to do it your way as well - just what I want, where I want, when I want. How nice they are crediting you.
That looks like such a wonderful place to visit. Have fun on your adventures and stay SAFE! I can't wait to hear all about things.
Enjoy your week immensely!
We have had 3 birthdays in the family this week, so there have been lots of cards, packages and phone calls. It is sad that everyone is so spread out, but whenever I hear their voices they are right there with me.
ReplyDeleteI harvested the shallots that I planted in the Autumn and found that they hadn't multiplied at all. Very strange! They are still edible though, so will get used. I planted some lettuce and radish seeds in their place, along with some sweet peas. Our promised rain never arrived and the garden is very dry so we have started selective watering. It is supposed to be very hot this week, so the watering will continue for the time being.
