Happy Sunday - midway through this month! I hope this finds you all well and safe. Lots of winter weather and flooding happening all around.
Well, winter has reared its ugly head again - I guess I knew it would happen. It started raining yesterday - then it sleeted and then snow. Yesterday was our warmest day of probably last week or the next week. I have been out already and shoveled pathways and cleaned the walks. We got anywhere from 1" - 3", depending on where you are standing. It is very windy and blustery out there - so the snow is blowing. Not a lot - but enough to make things yucky - with ice underneath.
This next week will have highs in the teens and low 20's(F) and lows in single digits. More snow likely. All I can say is YUCK!
I want to take a moment and thank you all for your very kind and sweet words at the loss of my Blackie. I am sorry I did not answer each one individually - but every time I read a response I was in tears. I know many of you have been through losing a precious pet (family) and totally understand. He was a very special boy. So happy we had this precious time inside together. I know it prolonged his life.Bitsy keeps looking around, but he is very aware something happened too. He has never laid on the bed with me, unless Blackie was up there too. The past 2 nights he has been laying and sleeping on the bed on Blackie's blankie (which I have left there on purpose). He lays in the exact spot that Blackie was, when I got him in his crate Thursday. He keeps snuggling with me and follows me everywhere! I have left out 2 blankies that Blackie used just for Bitsy - so he can smell him. He is using them for sure.
So again - thank you all for your love. It was felt with every word.
Needless to say, I didn't accomplish a lot this week. I will get back into it this week, maybe!
- I did have lunch out one day with school friends at Ruby Tuesdays. That was nice.
- Of course there was the Vet business. She was so kind. They worked me right in (I was surprised) and took a lot of time with me and Blackie. She and I talked for a very long time and discussed everything in detail - she answered all my questions. They were so gentle with him. She let me stay as long as I needed with him before and after.
- I received a beautiful handmade card and sweet little notepad from Cookie this week. Thank you, Cookie. It is out on display!! (Last years is as well)
- I ran out to see sis on Friday for Valentines Day and took her some sweets. She was feeling so bad. She has had bronchitis very bad. Such a deep cough. She looked exhausted. We talked a bit, then I let her rest. She was glad to get some candy!
- While out to see sis, I did stop at Ollies to see if there was anything I needed to use my 15% off coupon before it expired. All I got was 3 - 2lb. bags of unsalted peanuts in shell for the squirrels.
- Just doing odds and ends - laundry, daily straightening, dusting
- Meals from home and what is on hand
- NO grocery shopping
- Did have a neighbor come over and visit for a while yesterday
Meals this past week:
Loaded chili/cheese fries
Burger and salad
Tamales over rice
Out to lunch
Nothing much, just bites of this and that
Angus burger w/mushrooms (no bun), onion rings
Bacon & egg sandwich
Didn't have much of an appetite later in the week. Things were very simple.
I did snack on fruit earlier in the week and a handful of nuts
Not much happening here, just not in the mood. I think I will catch up on some reading or maybe TV that I have DVR'd today and tomorrow. Don't plan on leaving. Eventually I will clean the drive off.
How was your week? What did you do that was fun or special? Did you get any good deals?
I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day if you celebrate.
I wish you all a safe and healthy week.
Blessings to you and yours from me at my humble little home.

Lord, Thank you for each of our blessings. We pray that people will be kind of heart and word, and truly look for answers and reasons, before speaking ill of others. Our words can cause such sadness. May we all try to be the best example of human life that we can be. May we each reach out and offer love and kindness to all. Prayers for peace for all. AMEN
(((((Cheryl))))) Bitsy must be lost without Blackie. Leaving the blankets out is a good idea. I’m so glad the vet was so one and let you stay as long as you needed. My heart goes out to you. 💕
ReplyDeleteThank you. He does wonder around a lot and looks. Blackie has been his big buddy since the day he showed up here as a baby kitten!
DeleteHave a good week.
I remember leaving my friend's pillow out for his cat that I took in after he died. The cat slept on it for quite a while. I think it comforted her. I'm sure Bits is sad. I saw it with Minnie, when the gray cat died. She was always looking for him and it made me cry even more than I was already crying. Much sympathy on your loss, it's sure a hard thing and tears the heart.
ReplyDeleteSorry that you've got such cold weather coming - which means *I* will get it a few days later and I don't want it either. Maybe it will go north of me? The recent days have been damp and chill - I feel cold to the bone, even though dressed warmly and snuggled up. Only time I feel warm is in bed under the blankets!
Valentine's Day was good. Went out of town, had supper at a favorite restaurant, and then a couple hours of hymn singing. :)

I think it helps - he lays on both blankies when he sleeps. Sometimes in the LR and sometimes the bed. I think it is a comfort too. It is heartbreaking.
DeleteYep, it is windy and feels very chilly today. Snow - yuck! It is supposed to be cold all week. I do that some days as well - just can't get warm no matter what. I hate that.
I am sorry you will be getting it too. Glad you haven't had any of that flooding I keep hearing about.
Sounds like you had a nice Valentine day.
Have a lovely week and stay warm!
Losing our buddies is always so hard. Bits is going to miss him for a long time but he has you and you have him. Big hugs!! Prayers for your sister as well!!
ReplyDeleteThanks - sis just can't seem to catch a break. Poor thing. Prayers welcome.
DeleteYes, it is lonely and I know Bits misses him. It is like we have talks - I say something to him and it sure sounds like he answers. Just the intonation of his meows. He is staying close by me.
Have a super week.
I am behind in posts, so let me add my sympathy to you for Blackie. Pets bring a joy that is not found elsewhere to our lives. They're family.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam. Yes, they give us unconditional love and such joy. They are for sure family.
DeleteHave a good week.
Cheryl, my kind regards at the loss of Blackie. It leaves a big hole in your heart. Experience with loss never gets any easier other than we learn that life will go on & that hole will slowly fill in around our loved ones. My SIL's birthday falls on Valentine's Day so friends gathered to celebrate. I made her a chocolate zucchini cake with cream cheese/wht chocolate icing. I also made & decorated heart shaped cookies for my granddaughter's ringuette team. Spread the love. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. I have done this more times than I care to think about - it is still super hard. Yes, we go on and life gets easier - but always a hole there. Special babies in our lives.
DeleteYum, zucchini cake sounds wonderful. I bet she appreciated it. Cute on the cookies too. YES - spread the love around!!!!!
Have a special week.
Good idea to leave out Blackie's blankets for Bits. That has to be a comfort for him.
ReplyDeleteWe could have done without this last little rain/snow/ice weather. It's snowing a bit now. I saw a video on YouTube of a lady driving her car on the frozen canal. Not real smart!
Hope your sister gets over the bronchitis. That can really sap your strength.
Today is our 34th wedding anniversary but we will stay in. I thought about going to Fresh Thyme (just down the road) for cilantro to put in the Mexican casserole we are making but decided we don't need it that badly.
Payers and hugs for you and Bits as you mourn for Blackie.
I do believe it is comforting for him. He smells it and then lays down.
DeleteOh my, no driving on the canal is crazy - sure way to sink! I am over winter!!!!! Have I said that before? LOL
I went out and shoveled the drive - so that is done.
HAPPY ANNIVERSAY to you both. I hope you have many more together. Enjoy your casserole. Sounds perfect w/o cilantro to me - I am one of those who can't stand it!! LOL
Thank you. Have a wonderful week.
Cheryl,so sorry for your loss! Losing Blackie leaves a big emptiness I'm sure as we've lost beloved pets! Prayers that God comfort you..and Bitsie! Huge Hug!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your words. Yes, it seems quiet - even though he made no noise most of the time.
DeleteHave a great week.
I am so sorry that you lost Blackie. At least you have the consolation of knowing that you did the right thing by taking him into your home.
ReplyDeleteThank you - yes, I am so glad he got to enjoy a quiet, calm and peaceful life for a while. He sure enjoyed it.
DeleteHave a lovely week.
Cheryl, we got over 3 inches of snow last night, over a thin layer of ice.
ReplyDeleteThe week looks to be really ucky weatherwise, I don't think I have any reason to leave the property and that is okay with me.
I have most of my required Sunday chores done, have to take care of my animals.
My chickens are laying again and I was able to share eggs with family last evening, we had a ham and bean get together supper.
I need to go thru my garden seeds and see what needs bought. I have a feeling gardens are going to be very popular this year.
Bits misses Blackie and he knows you do also. Cling to one another.
JCKitty
It is cold and windy out for sure. I have no plans to leave - unless something comes up. My drive is now cleaned and has actually cleared completely. Stay in and stay warm and safe.
DeleteGlad your hens are laying - that is like gold! Nice to share.
I can't wait to dig in the soil!
Yes, he misses him, I know. He's chatty, like he is calling for him. We are loving on each other.
Have a beautiful week.
There is certainly going to be a lot of moisture in many places this year for gardens and the farmers. It's bitterly cold at home but at least no more snow, yet.
ReplyDeleteBitsy clearly misses his fursib. I'm glad Bitsy is there, to help both of you in your grief.
Well, that is good they don't have more snow. We didn't get a lot - but enough for me. You sure are lucky to be somewhere warm.
DeleteYes, Bitsy misses his buddy. He sure is a sweety.
Have a fun filled week.
I’m sorry your week was so sad, losing pets is always hard. Good thinking on leaving the blankets for Bits.
ReplyDeletePrayers and thoughts for your sister. Bronchitis is difficult to beat in this weather. Linda has had a bout of it this winter and it took a long time to recover.
I have picked up some great bargains this week and so have managed to stay under budget.
I have started a big wardrobe clean out which is long overdue. My sinuses are not happy with me, but I’ll be glad of the cleared space.
I hope your week is a good one, have lots of cuddles with Bits, take care Louise
Thank you. Sis, can use the prayers - poor gal. It seems many have had it this year. Hope Linda is doing better. Please tell I said hello and hope she is well.
DeleteGood for you and finding deals and saving money! That is a win-win. I need to clean out a lot of wardrobe as well. Thanks for the reminder. Hope your sinuses clear up quickly.
Thanks. You have a great week.
Google has only allowed me to be Anonymous as of late unless I remember to put in my name manually. What I have found is that about fifty percent of the time if my name is not there I am a target for nasty or snarky replies. This includes here. I don't understand this at all. Would you be unkind to me face to face if I was a stranger and you did not know my name?
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anyone leave an unkind comment to anyone here in ages. Not sure why they would. I have not done that - you can be guaranteed. I pretty much took care of that problem, by sending a few commenters to Spam. I have no problem doing that, if people can't behave or leave junk posts. I am sorry you are having problems.
DeleteMay you have a lovely week.
Poor Bits. I always feel so bad for the fur siblings. They get heartbroken as well.
ReplyDeleteWe had flooding warnings yesterday and winter weather advisory today. Several roads in the county are flooded and closed and the snow and temperature drop is supposed to be turning the rest of the wet roads icy. Thankfully I stay at home with the kids and the husband works from home right now so we don't have to worry about trying to get out.
The little ones WIC came in so I went to Walmart to pick that stuff up. Besides time like that when I have to go in, I'm trying to stay out of the stores. I found some good clearance deals while I was there. $11 bags of pistachios for $4 each, $1 k cups, $4 bags of coffee, clothes in the next size for the kids $1-$4.
I got free cat treats from Chewy. A pair of Nike shoes my sister in law got and gave to my mom who gave to me, it hurt both of their feet so we'll see.
Yes mam, you can tell he is sad.
DeleteSo sorry you are getting flooding. It sure looks bad in some places. Wonderful that neither of you have to go out. Best to stay in and safe.
Sounds like you got some deals. I know the WIC helps so much. Nice, free treats. Hope the shoes work out for you!
Have another good, yet safe week.
The last time we lost a cat, my boy Max was so depressed I got him a friend. They really feel these things so deeply.
ReplyDeleteI have a well stocked pantry and no reason to leave. I do need to visit the in laws on Wednesday and have some errands on Thursday. Hopefully it will be better then.
I don't think a lot of people realize that animals have deep feelings too.
DeleteGood for you - stay in and stay safe. I have no need to go out right now - plenty here too.
You stay warm and safe and have a super week.
Poor Bits, and you of course. Blackie was loved by both of you. Really cold here as Maebeme says. Tonight it just might reach -50C.
ReplyDeleteNothing really special done around here, though Harvey made me brunch this morning which was awesome.
God bless.
he sure was. Missed by both as well.
DeleteOh dang, that is cold. Stay in and stay warm. How lovely that you had brunch made for you! Sweet.
Have an awesome week.
I just wanted to add my prayer for you to continue to be comforted.
ReplyDeleteYour Sun posts are always so good -- well, i enjoy them.all.
Thank you so much. I am glad to have you here.
DeleteHave a lovely week.
Cheryl, I am just now seeing this about Blackie and I am so sad for you. I'm so sorry. You gave Blackie the best home and I know you and Bitsy will miss him dearly. Saying goodbye to our fur babies is so hard, but in this case, this was the most merciful thing you could do for him. I'm sorry that decision had to be made, and I hope you and Bitsy will snuggle together and find comfort in the good memories with Blackie. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteThank you dear. It was a tough decision, but the only one. I could not have him suffer. Poor guy. Life will be different, but we will keep each other company.
DeleteHave a special week.
Cheryl, I am so sorry. I am just now catching up on blogs and I just want to say that I am so sorry to hear about Blackie.
ReplyDeleteThank you - kind of you to say. Glad to have you stop by.
DeleteHave a blessed week.
so sorry about Blackie...it's very hard to lose such a loving part of your life. It will be in your heart for ever.
ReplyDeleteThank you - it is sad. All my babies past and present mean so much.
DeleteHave a good week.
I'm sorry you had to send Blackie over the rainbow bridge. It is so stinkin' hard. My Kylie lived 3y without her brother and then she joined him 18 months ago. I still haven't another cat and miss them terribly. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is very hard to do. I went without an inside cat for almost 2 years and then brought in Blackie and Bitsy. It just makes the home feel like there is love.
DeleteHave a lovely week.
Oh Cheryl, I must have missed your post on Blackie. I'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he's had the best pet life imaginable with you- hold on to that that thought, even though that must be difficult during this mourning process. Sending you a big digital hug. ❤️
Hello, thank you so much. I sure do miss that big fellow, he was a sweety. I tried to give him the best life.
DeleteHave a great week.
Cheryl, I'm so sorry about Blackie. What a blessing when we can give animals the best life of care and love. And they add so much to ours. I'm sure he felt all the love. Take care, my friend. Love and hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie. Yes, we bless each other, don't we? I hope he enjoyed living his best life for a while - I sure enjoyed him being in here with me.
DeleteHave a special week.
