Nudges

Hello all - hope this finds you and your family well.  Another cool morning - but all is good.  We get a couple more nice days, then winter comes back in for a minute.  It sure won't be long, before we are complaining about the heat in this area.  I hope I don't complain but just enjoy it.

Do you get nudges?  Some call it coincidence, some say fate, I call them God nudges.
Little things, like taking a different route one day and missing a big wreck.  Or stopping to do something and running late and miss something bad.  Thinking of someone that hasn't entered your mind in ages, maybe call or reach out.  You just get a 'feeling' about someone or a situation and leave.
I think about all the stories I heard about 9/11 - and people that missed being in the towers when they fell.  Running late, a traffic jam, a sick baby, a forgotten appointment, etc.  Those people lived.

Yesterday I left to run some errands.  I was on the road (fairly busy) and I was stopped at a traffic light.  The vehicle behind me stopped as well - a little way back.  Then all of a sudden, I felt a big jolt and heard a huge BAM!  They ran into my rear end!!
Well, I threw my arms up as to say, "what the h***?"  Then I put my vehicle in park and started to get out.  In an INSTANT - I saw the passenger of the back car start to get out and someone SCREAMED at me NO - DON'T!!!!!  Yep, I heard it - although no one was around.
So, I put the car in drive and nudged to the curb - in front of a busy gas station (just a couple feet).
The light changed - they shielded their faces (both men) and took off like crazy people.

Now first thought for me was carjacking, then in another instant I thought better.  My vehicle isn't a jacking vehicle.  Then I thought worse!  Call me nervous Nellie or whatever you want - I just knew something wasn't right.  I didn't even get out after they left - as I thought someone could have been at the gas station waiting.  Yes, I was that shaken.
I went on up to WM parking lot before getting out to look at the vehicle.  I was so lucky - not a scratch or a dent (obviously bumpers didn't line up) - but I was sure shaken.  Shaken to the core.  I sat there for several minutes calming myself and saying a prayer of thanks that I was ok.
I went on with my day and my errands, and all was fine.

I know many think it is just fate or karma or coincidence - call it what you want - I think someone greater intervenes!!!
I always pray before I leave the house, that God will let my journey be safe and that He will take care of me and my home.  I always say 'thank You' when I get home.
I think we receive blessings in many ways - in things that happen and things that don't.  We never know how the day will go or what may be in store - but I do believe that it all happens for a reason, if for no other reason than to remind us to say thank you or say a prayer more often.

Have you ever had one of those moments?  Do you get nudges?

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Pay attention and keep your eyes open.  Listen to that little voice inside.  Be grateful for what does happen and what doesn't - it may be a fine line.

Blessings to all - stay safe.

  1. I am so glad that you are OK! I know how scary that was and I am glad God was watching over you and led you to do the right thing.
I had that happen to me when I was in my twenties. I was sitting at a red light, and they hit me from behind. When the passenger immediately got out, I knew something was wrong and drove off. To this day I never pull up too close to a vehicle in front of me so that I have the room to pull off if I have to.
I hope today is a more relaxing day for you.

    1. It was scary. You got the message too! That is a GREAT tip to not get too close to the next vehicle, just in case. Thanks for that - never really thought about that before.
No reason for a passenger to get out - it should always be the driver. It just wasn't right.
      Thanks!!

    1. Thanks. I swear it was as if someone was sitting right there and yelling! I guess He was!
I always pray before going out in my vehicle - you just never know and I want all the protections I can get.

  4. So scary! I’m glad you are OK - and that your car is OK, too. I will remember your experience when driving. Yes, God gives us signs, definitely. And he is there to protect us in scary situations. Barbara M.

    1. Thanks. Life can throw us some zingers sometimes, and just 'listening' can make a difference. We always need to be aware of our surroundings!
I remember being taught as a child - be wary of strange men! I still am!

  7. Glad you and your vehicle are okay. I suspect the driver had no license or insurance or even a history of accidents and fled to avoid additional charges. Do get your undercarriage checked out. Even if the exterior of the car suffered no damage, there could be damage that isn't visible.

    1. Could very well be the case - but today, you just can't be too careful. The world is scary.
I will get the vehicle checked just to be cautious.
      Thanks!

  8. Wow, so glad you are okay! This reminds me of Psalms 91:11 "For he commands His messengers concerning you, to guard you in all your ways." I agree with Maebeme, that the driver most likely did not have a driver's license, insurance, arrest warrants, the list goes on.

The sun is shining brightly, which makes me a happy girl! Blessings to all in your house (and greenhouse).

  11. I am so glad that you are ok Cheryl. What a frightening experience. Thank goodness you listened to the voice.
When I was pregnant with my first child I felt a presence sitting behind me whenever I was driving and once a voice clearly telling me "Slow down. There is a car parked around the corner." I didn't know the road, which was a winding country lane, and I wasn't going overly fast, but I obeyed the voice and slowed right down. Sure enough there was a large jeep parked around the bend taking up most of the road. If I hadn't listened I would have gone straight into the back of it. I never had anything like it happen before or since and it really shook me up.

  18. So glad you had God’s protection over you . Thank you for sharing your experience . A few years ago I took a Situation Awareness class at our local bank, and they covered the same scenario. Being a country bumpkin from a very safe, rural state we tend to let our guard down and this class was a good wake up call!

    1. Thank you. That is neat that someone offered a class like that. We WANT to think the best of people - but in reality we SEE the worst sometimes. I am glad you had that class - it just may save your life someday. I think that should be something vehicle insurance companies offer.

  20. Praise God for His watch care and protection! I am glad you listened to His promptings!
There is a free women’s self defense class offered at my local college—it is open to the community, not only the college students. It was excellent, and really focused a lot on avoiding dangerous situations. If anyone wants to find a class near them, they can find information at www.rad-systems.com. Sometimes there is a small fee for the class, but it is well worth it!

Thanks for that info - hopefully that will help someone reading here today. It is wise for women to know how to protect themselves in many situations.
