Hello to everyone. It is a damp morning here, after early morning rains. Rain has stopped, and the sun is peeking out. The grass is just vivid green, and things are starting to look more like spring. While walking yesterday, I noticed a neighbor's yard a few doors down, was just full of wild violets. It looked so pretty to me. I just stopped and look at it for a few minutes - love the bits of color. The birds are singing away this morning, the squirrels are out getting breakfast, and the kitties have eaten. Oh, and it was 60* when I got up!!!
Today will be warmer and sunny. We have storms coming in again OVERNIGHT. I am so tired of the big change in storms showing up overnight. That is scary. At least during the day, you can see what the sky looks like! Remember when we just used to have rain showers and not storms? Anyone in the path - stay safe.
We all need to take time to be kind to others. If may not benefit you in the short run, but it sure will make someone else's day nice and in the long run you become a kinder person.I love nature and do all I can for the creatures that show up in my yard. They DO give joy, and that is all I need from them.
I walk and try to pick up trash along the way. No one generally realizes who does it - but I know they enjoy a cleaner and neater neighborhood. A simple smile or a 'hello' can do wonders for a stranger. Reach that item the elderly person can't and give them a hand at the store.
Keep your yard and home neat and clean - it is so appreciated by others. Trust me, I have some neighbors that take care of nothing - and it is awful. When they do pick up, we all smile a little more.
Just be kind. Be thoughtful. Be caring. Be helpful. Be mindful. Be prayerful!!!!!
Prayers are done in silence and when we are alone - but they do impact others. God hears us, even when it is just in our mind - so keep good thoughts.
Be your best person at all times. Some people live many years, but in reality, it is very short and we need to make it matter. Leave a legacy or memory that would make you smile if you read it of someone else!
Yes, make it a better world for others and make it a wonder to enjoy for yourself. We ALL deserve to be happy, and we all NEED to be good people.Love you my friends.
Have a blessed day and weekend.

This is a great post, Cheryl. It seems so many people today are only focusing on themselves and not others in their family or community. Taking care of yourself first is very important but I believe you also need to think of others. It doesn't have to be much more than a smile or a kind word and it does wonders.
ReplyDeleteStay safe tonight and enjoy the weekend.
It is a pretty MR society anymore. Being kind costs nothing and it makes the world a better place. I was talking to a gal this morning, that actually lost a job because she showed sympathy/empathy for a customer - who loved it - but the boss not so much. She told her that kind of stuff needed to be done on her own time. OMGoodness - what a cold, cold person.
DeleteThanks - I sure hope it isn't too bad out,
That is terrible but I believe it. I had a staples delivery that went to the medical center instead of here at the hospital (which is quite a distance to lug 3 cases of paper). The person that works in the mail room told me that her boss didn't want her to bring it to me because this was staples error not theirs. She brought it anyway and I really thanked her. I've never thought that's not my job or not my issue, but a LOT of people do now.
DeleteThis is important. The more we practice being kind and helpful the easier it will become and it will help the world be a nicer place. Eventually that will be our "default behaviour"!
ReplyDeleteNowadays it seems that many people have lost any restraint on mean words. They're used to behaving like trolls on the internet, saying whatever comes to mind because they are invisible, unknown, and therefore "safe".
People remember when you act badly. There's a man here who was very rude to a waitress and my children saw/heard it all. They were shocked and told me all about it. I've been leery of that man ever since, and he's a dear friend of people I'm friends with, so it's awkward as I meet him socially.
That's a sweet picture of the little girl with the robin. :)

Kindness does seem to be in short supply. Yet, every time I go out, I do find sweet people. Always a nice conversation and smiles. Then there are the others!!
DeleteThe computer world has made it easy to be mean and hide. Such cowards. I think we all know one.
I have faltered at times and lashed out at people who irritated me. But mostly I try to be kind, especially to people who many people ignore. I’ve heard it said you can tell a person’s character by how they treat a waitress or waiter and I think it is true.
ReplyDeleteI am short and frequently ask for help reaching items in the grocery store. Most of the time, the people who help me seem happy that they’ve been able to do a small good deed by helping me.
We are in a real drought and my county is going to increase water restrictions next week. I usually wash my car by driving it onto the grass and washing it there. (Car is covered in green oak and needs washing desperately.) That is now restricted to a household’s one watering day, Tuesday for me. Even hand watering is restricted to that one day. For those who have lawn sprinkler systems (not me) watering can only be done in the overnight hours. Barbara M.
I think it has happened to everyone at some point, but we realized it and try to be better. I agree with waitress/waiters and sales clerks.
DeleteI try to offer if I see someone shorter looking up!
Sorry about the water restrictions. That is a bummer. It sure is amazing how different weather is in different areas.
Excellent post! It should be required reading with a pop quiz! Twice I have witnessed an incredibly rude man, muscle his way in front of a woman. We were at Meijer one day and Erin was shopping with us. As we approached the checkout lanes, a man RAN to get in front of Erin. When we were at Costco this week, leaving the store, some young punk ran to get in front of me. These are the same people who, upon seeing the lane closed sign, gallop up in that lane to get in front of everyone else. More and more I see pure evil in this world and have to stay close to the Master to overcome the negative feelings and live my life as He would wish.
ReplyDeleteMore rain coming...at least we won't go into planting season dry. I worked outside yesterday, pulling weeds and running small branches and the neighbor's pine cones through the shedder/chopper. Made some nice mulch. The neighbor gave the Farmer a dozen pretty eggs. The shells are so pretty, it seems a shame to crack them.
Enjoy your weekend!
So many have not be taught manners, it sure seems. Rudeness abounds. I see and hear so much evil and like you, I just dig in deeper to my love of the Lord.
DeleteI worked out yesterday as well - gosh it was lovely. Today is as well. Nice on the eggs.
Using what you have in new ways - cool.
Yes, everyone deserves kindness.
ReplyDeleteThey sure do - life is too short not to be kind.
DeleteI am glad there are people in the world like you.😉 Linda T
ReplyDeleteAaaahhhh thank you!
DeleteAgain, you need a national column.
ReplyDeleteSMILES - thanks!
DeleteA timely message! Today my hubby and I were in line at a cafeteria style restaurant and I noticed the floor had some water on it, and the woman behind me was using a cane. I pointed out the water and said to please be careful. Well, that started a great conversation that we both enjoyed. I meet some really nice folk in line, just a smile and hello tells you if they want to chat or prefer not to chat. It warmed our hearts to meet each other, we both benefited from our conversation.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is sometimes really easy to meet nice people in line. I was at the Charter/Spectrum office and there was quite a group waiting. Three of us ended up talking together for nearly an hour waiting. It made the time pass quickly and it was a pleasant way to spend the morning.

It happened to me twice today. Didn't take much, I just chuckled once at a joke a lady made - and that started a conversation. I love it when that happens - it keeps our faith in others alive. You brighten a day and they brighten a day - pretty neat, huh?
DeleteMy husband was quite upset this morning because the Post Office clerk was rude and snappy with him when she had a problem sticking a label onto the parcel he was posting. No doubt she forgot about the remarks as soon as he left the counter, but they stayed with him for hours. It is easy to forget how our words affect others.
