Hello all and Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope this finds you all well and safe.
Boy, has there been some weather to end our winter around these parts. Blizzards in many areas, cold in areas that don't usually get too cold and winds! We went from 70's on Sunday (windy) and windows open, taking walks, and picking flowers - to snow covering the ground this morning and very cold! Good golly.
I am so ready for warmer days!
We can have very little, just enough and too much (in my opinion). What s enough? I guess we all have a different view of that. For me it is basic - a roof over my head, food for my belly and warmth.
Movies, TV, magazines, media - it all tries to tell us that we need more and that we aren't good enough as we are. Don't fall for it.
I think knowing how to survive on less than the norm is a blessing. It could possibly serve us well someday. It lets us live and enjoy the small things and have pleasure in different ways.
It is about having what you need to get to point B. I mean you can't take the leftovers with you!
It means less stress.
A smaller home gives you shelter as good as (or better) than a McMansion. It is easier to take care of as well. A WM watch tells time as well as a Rolex. Basic, healthy and natural foods are better for you than all the caviar. Secondhand clothes keep you warm probably better than designer clothes.
It isn't about the stuff for most of us.
The old saying 'he who dies with the most toys, wins" - is ridiculous! Not sure how that is winning anything.
The money trap can be like jail - it traps you, and it is hard to break free.
Give me memories and daily simple joys over millions.
It is freeing to not worry about making tremendous wealth. It is freeing to just love life and take it slower and enjoy all the small pieces.
It is freeing to release stuff and have a cleaner, less cluttered life.
I am really working on this.
Wealth should be what is in our hearts and how we share that with others.
THAT is golden.
Have you found your ENOUGH? What does it mean to you.
Have a lovely St. Patty's Day.
Many blessings to you all.

I like this so much, Cheryl. We don't need as much as we think we need and can do with so much less. This is a great message to send out into the world today. Happy St, Patrick's day to you too. This weather is crazy! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks - I know there are many young people that need to hear this and probably some older ones as well. We can get by with SO much less and still live a good life.
DeleteYes indeed it is crazy!
Enough: Have all I need. Use what I have. Can afford what I want. Really don't care what others think about where I live, what I wear or what I do/don't do.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday everyone!
Yes, yes, yes, and yes!
DeleteAgree 100%
Well said! The more you have, the more you have to mess with: cleaning, repairing (or running out to buy a replacement), or the urge to have MORE. We get to a point where what others think of us or what we have is just not important.
ReplyDeleteI am glad this weather will not last, and that we didn't get the really bad storms. While I feel bad that folks are enduring the extreme weather and damage that ensues, I'm happy we don't have it.
No sign of Licorice? We get attached to our fur babies.
Enjoy your day! We will have the last of the chili for our lunch today. It is definitely soup weather.
Thanks. I am to the point that less is more!
DeleteElle said it perfectly!
I am so glad we dodged the bullet Sunday evening with the bad storms. I feel for those that got them.
No nothing yet. I talked with his former 'mom' yesterday - and it may be old Tom that is causing the problem. Licorice was fine, until Tom showed there and started bullying him. Licorice came here and had the run of the place - then Tom starts coming here. Tom is sweet with people but is a bully to other cats. None of mine like him. I run him off when I can - he just MAY be going someplace else to live!
I have enough! In fact I have more than enough. (When you save early, the money grows by itself.)
ReplyDeleteI’m selling my house for less than if I waited to try to get a higher price. I’ve arranged for a repair found in the inspection by making sure it is done RIGHT even though the cost to me is more. The money I get from the home sale will not change my life, in fact I struggle to know where to even put it.
I LIKE living on a budget even though I could spend much more. What I don’t do is deny myself. I saw my mom do that much too often.
Today I woke up to “shockingly” cold weather. I had not looked at the weather report. It has been in the mid-80s and this morning it was 45 F. I had put my a/c on and switched the filters (weird system). I had taken the blanket off my bed - had to pull up the afghan at the foot of the bed this morning. Looks like it is going to stay this way all week. Barbara M.
You are so right - when you save early, it does take care of itself. I still live pretty much on a budget (if you can call it such). I just spend on what I need and really want. I can do what I want, and I truly am. That is a nice feeling.
DeleteThe weather can be a shock to the system! Sorry you got so chilly. We will gradually get back up to decent temps - I guess March is that time of the year. We always call it March Madness, it always coincides with the basketball finals. Stay warm.
Try not to worry too much about Licorice. They say that in Spring a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love. Perhaps he has gone off in search of a like-minded female cat.
ReplyDeleteI have enough. I don't want a bigger house or a fancier car. I could afford them, but what I have does the job just fine.
I have thought the same thing Tracy. He does have a wondering eye!!!! LOL
DeleteIsn't that worth celebrating - enough and it does the job just fine! Love it.
I thought of that too, but was not sure if Licorice was neutered or not.
DeleteI also have enough. There are things to fix, to improve, to repair, but nothing is an emergency. I am so blessed to live here, in this country, in this area, at this time. Any time I think I'd rather live in the past I consider how much dental and vision care has improved in just my lifetime. That settles me down again. ;)

Mary - when a lot of people do nothing but complain, I am with you about how lucky we are to be here in the good old USA.
DeleteI wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We have so much abundance and are truly blessed. Our lives are really good.
As I declutter and organize I am really finding I have more than enough. We have lived in a small home (just 1000 square feet) for most of our lives. There is a basement, but about half of that is storage, laundry or workshop. We really collected too much over the years and now that I am clearing my space I am loving the fact that there is more room and we get to spend more time enjoying what we have.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Very well put. Your home is about the size of mine and after 40 years here, there is a lot of stuff. It takes time to go through and get rid of, but it is satisfying.
DeleteDid you see where Linda (PP) posted that Tommy died on Saturday? So sad. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI did see that. Can't imagine what she will do now. I left her a comment - although she hasn't posted any comments. So very sad.
DeleteThis is so true Cheryl. We all have more than enough. The times that we've moved and decluttered, I thought we were really making progress on cutting back. Then we would still have so much stuff! When we all celebrate Christmas and then the next week you go to Walmart and see hundreds of people in the store buying more stuff and it just gets sickening sometimes. I just want enough to pay bills, buy what we need and bless my kids and others with the extra. That is being "rich".
ReplyDeleteYou got it - "that is being rich". I know exactly what you mean. Think about Thanksgiving - we spend a day being thankful, then people rush out the next day to act like crazy people shopping for things no one needs! I agree with the after Christmas sales.
DeleteWe are so truly blessed, and so many just can't see it.
