Hello all. How is it going for everyone? Lovely morning here. It is going to be a little cooler today and maybe tomorrow - then back to warm days again. I love it all. It seems spring is here in full force now.
Everything is green, early flowers are starting to bloom, buds cover everything, weeds are growing like........well, weeds!
Cute pic - not mine.So what are you doing this fine week? What do you have going for the weekend?
I have worked my rear end off the past 3 days - last night I was so achy and fell into bed - then I couldn't sleep. UGH I hate it when that happens. I think I was too sore and tired to really get comfy. Finally got to sleep about 2AM. Hopefully tonight will be a good sleeping night - it will be cooler as well.
I have some things I want to accomplish today, but nothing that will task these sore muscles!! LOL
Yesterday evening I was out front picking little weeds out of the rock, when a neighbor stopped over. We set on the edge of the porch and talked a few minutes. Another fellow walked by and told me how much he admired my front flower bed - he said it always makes him smile when he walks by. How nice! He said not many have flowers and keep things up like that, and he admired that. Sure is nice to hear things like that. Makes the work worth it all.
Do you all have plans for Mother's Day? I hope those that celebrate have a lovely day with family.
I sure miss my momma. I always bought her flowers for her porch boxes and planters - so she could enjoy them all summer long. I wish I could that again for her. Maybe I will plant a few 'posies' here in her honor!
I came across this picture in my memories the other day. Not sure where this is - but wouldn't that be lovely to have a privacy fence painted with flowers? Any type of flowers! I would love to be so artistic - I just love this idea. Maybe one day!!Well, I am off to get busy on this fine day. I am going to go in and change the bedding out and probably put a different spread on the bed as well. Then laundry and a little gardening and weeding. Nothing strenuous!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy every little moment and every little thing you are shown and given.
Life is beautiful!
We really do use a lot of muscles in the spring/summer that haven't been used all winter. I'm feeling it too.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of pictures of really pretty privacy fences lately. There are so many creative people.
Enjoy your day. Don't work too hard.
We sure do!!! I tell you, winter is a time of resting, but my body sure feels it come spring. But I do feel invigorated when working outside. I would like a privacy fence at least way out back. I just love creativity.
DeleteThat was nice of the passerby to say he enjoyed your flower bed, that does make it worth all the work and sore muscles. I'm catching up on laundry today and making 15 Bean Soup with Ham and cornbread for dinner. We have to get out of the house tomorrow, so I'm enjoying today spending the day at home.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice, and he didn't need to say anything - so it made me feel like he was honest.
DeleteMust be laundry day. Oh golly, ham and beans and cornbread sound good. My mouth is watering thinking of it.
I also have had positive comments about my garden, but only in Spring. Then the azaleas are in full bloom and the place is a riot of color. The rest of the year, not so much. I am working on it with daffodils, hostas, daylilies. I don't get much sun, and the few sunny spots have veggies in pots. There's also a native red honeysuckle which has done very well.
ReplyDeleteWish I had more energy so I could work harder at my garden, but I really feel my age some days. ;)
I have a card with a little moneygift for DDiL. She's a good mom, even though her work takes her out of town for a few days every week. DS says he's learning to be a Single Parent and it's really really hard.

I bet it all looks so pretty when things are blooming. It is a lot of hard work, and I know I sure feel it as I age. I was talking to someone today about. She said I can still do things, it just takes a lot longer! YUP!
DeleteThat is sweet, I bet she will appreciate it. Too bad she can't come home every night.
That is a beautiful fence painting. I miss my mom also.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a fence like that.
DeleteI miss both my parents - but mommas taught us so much, and took care of us - I think there is a bond never broken.
I bought my deck pot and deck-rail box flowers and veggies yesterday and planted all but two deck-rail boxes -- 7 pots of peppers, tomatoes, and chives, and four deck-rail boxes with geraniums street-side and lettuces and herbs on the inside. This involved dumping the soil from each pot, amending it with mushroom compost and perlite, and then refilling the pot before planting. I shorted myself 8 geranium plants and some additional herbs, so went and picked them up this morning and will finish planting the remaining boxes this afternoon. My deck is 2nd floor, so everything had to be lugged up from the garage. Talk about an aching back last night! And, I know it will be similar tonite. I see a long hot soak in the tub this evening! Our ground-level gardens are maintained by our HOA and we've been asked not to plant anything, but let our landscape company handle it. Ahemmm ... I had a pot with tulips for Easter and I AM planting the bulbs this weekend!!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have it going on! Good for you. I haven't got that stuff done at all. Tomorrow is plant day.
DeleteThat is a lot of heavy lifting for sure. Too bad you didn't have any help. Yes mam, a hot bath is always a wonder.
You plant them. That is crazy - there isn't a thing they have to do to them. Let others enjoy next spring.
There is a man who paints murals in my town. Oh I wish I could get him to do that to my fence! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful talent. That would be so cool to have one done.
DeleteThere is a house down the road from us that has a painted fence. Both Harvey and I love how it looks.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh how cool. If I can't have one, I would love to live by one.
DeleteHow wonderful to get a compliment about your gardens from a passerby. It's clearly a lovely space that you and others can enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhoever did the mural was incredibly talented. I had a neighbour who painted his own mural....to be kind I won't describe it. :)
It really made me feel good. It is a nice place to visit.
DeleteI would love to have that kind of talent. LOL - must have been some mural!
My sister and I plant flowers on our mother's grave for Mother's Day. I used to buy her flower baskets for her porch.
ReplyDeleteThat is so very nice. We can't plant at the cemetery parents are at. I have to put artificial flowers. I like that you can plant.
DeleteThat over-tired feeling is rough. I get that sometimes too. Lately though, I've been waking WAY too early and not able to go back to bed. Thank you for your comment about Bug. We miss her bunches.
ReplyDeleteYes. sometimes we can just wear ourselves out. I get up early every day, always have, so I should e able to sleep most nights.
DeleteYou are so welcome - it is so hard to lose one of our fur babies.
Cute kitty, pretty fence! Some folks are talented.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely day. It was nice to visit with your neighbor while you pulled weeds. Picking them out of rocks is tedious. We worked in the backyard, still pulling weeds. Making great progress though. We both feel whipped when we come in to clean up.
Your mom would appreciate you planting flowers in your own yard in honor of her. I sure do miss my mom, even after all these years.
Enjoy your weekend!
Yes, at least they are smooth rocks! Doesn't hurt the fingers much. There is always something to do. Pull hose weeds and darn if they don't come back! Get some rest.
DeleteI think we will always miss our parents - no matter our age.
I also end up with aches and pain related insomnia. I try not to take pain killers too much in order to protect my liver -- but it's tough to get old! Things end up hurting that I would never have imagined being an issue twenty years ago.
ReplyDeleteTommy asked me what I wanted to do on Mother's day. Granted I am just a dog mom. I told him I wanted cinnamon rolls from a specific bakery. And bacon. So I am looking forward to that!
We sure do end up with pains that we never thought we would have. Getting tired quicker - it aint for sissies!
DeleteHow nice. I love that you are honored - you are their mom, that is also a special job.
I feel a little jealous reading of everyone in the northern hemisphere going into spring now. Here, we will soon be in winter, and I have just added heavier blankets and covers to my bed.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit sore this week too as I am cleaning up the garden and pulling up tomato plants that have now finished. People walking past are admiring my hibiscus tree as it looks stunning the past few months, can't say I have done anything different to look after it this year except give it a really good cut at the beginning of summer!
Well we are sure happy to be getting spring. It is so hard for us to imagine people going into winter season in May. You are pulling out gardens and we are putting them in.
DeleteHibiscus are so pretty. Don't work too hard.
Stay warm.
Cheryl, you work hard! You deserve a few days of taking it easy :) And I love a painted fence. I had a friend who had a painted fence in her backyard - the entire fence - and it was so fun to see her pictures of her backyard. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how hard I work, but I know it is harder for me now that I am older. It takes more effort and I sure get tired and sore faster.
DeleteThat would be so neat. I think it is just so lively and bright. What a joy to look at and see that!
My garden is PLANTED!!! All the annuals are food are in the ground. The water is set and going well. The new blackberry supports are in place and they have begun to set blooms. We've been eating veg out of the freezer for a few weeks AND our CSA started Thursday. I told hubster we need to eat at home and consume as much as possible this year. (We still have at least a dozen vac-packs in the freezer from the '24 CSA). I want the freezer nearly empty by harvest time 2026 meaning, I will plant a big garden next year. I only planted 2 raised beds and 6 are "resting" for the season.
ReplyDeleteWeather has been fabulous and I've walked 42 miles this week. Today will be a car/sitting day. Driving a cousin here from Rotterdam to my brother's so she can visit he/fam for the week! 4h round trip for me.
Happy Sunday everyone. It's a lovely 68F right now (days in the high 80s) and the windows and doors are wide open at the moment!
Yay for you! It sounds like you have a good handle and plan on the future food rewards of your garden and CSA.
DeleteThat is a good deal of walking - good job. I need to get one of those things that tell you how many steps! I might amaze myself. Have a safe trip.
It is gorgeous here as well. Love having the windows open and the fresh air coming in.
Have a great one!
