Hello all - I surely hope this finds you all well on this last Wednesday of August! Amazing, isn't it? This month has just flown by. It is a cool morning in the 50's here. I actually put on a long sleeve t-shirt this morning. Still have the flip-flops on though! LOL
It sure is nice to have the AC off and the windows open. Bitsy is loving the window sitting! He goes from window to window following birds and Licorice the outdoor cat. His fur feels even softer the past couple days - the fresh air must be good for him (and me).
I was raised with that mentality. I think many of us of a certain generation were.
Living an intentional life has so much going for it. What does that mean? It means making a conscious choice about spending. It means under consuming. It means being a good steward of what you do have. It means being a bit more frugal. It means getting the biggest bang for your buck. Buying quality not quantity.
It is a mindset!!
I know many think being frugal is for the poor. Nope. It is for all. The rich and the poor and in between. It is something everyone can do.
From finding new ways to use the leftovers, to fixing the things you have, to watching the sales and clearance, to turning off the lights and water, it includes it all.
Simple living means being content and accepting and loving what you have. Using things to the fullest, and not rushing out to buy the latest, shiniest and biggest new thing. It truly means LESS stress and anxiety.
"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like." Will Rogers
Isn't that the truth? I see it every single day.
When you start spending what you don't have, you are always going to be a huge step or stairway behind! Sure, a mortgage or financing a vehicle, are both ways of spending what we haven't earned yet. A home is an investment, and a vehicle is often a necessity. But just buying stuff on credit, is a huge red flag. IF you use credit, make sure you use it wisely and that you can pay it off every month.
Remember - it isn't just about money. It is about quality of life and having CONTROL of your life. It is about feeling good about yourself. It is about being more sustainable, being concerned for the environment, and keeping a happy and healthy home.
It is about beating the rising costs, unmoving wages, and inflation.
It is about peace of mind.
Do more with less. Have more wisdom, joy and beauty in your life.
Peace of mind is priceless!!!!!
Have a beautiful day my friends.
Yes, "peace of mind is priceless!" Anyone who has gone through crazy, reckless spending, and then paying off everything you owe, experiences that peace. The quality of your life increases exponentially.
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying these cooler days!
You are 100% correct. That is one stress and worry I am glad I do not have.
Delete"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like." Will Rogers I love this quote.
ReplyDeleteWe had thunderstorms for 3 hours yesterday and this morning we have wonderful fog and nice watered lawn and garden.
The quote is perfect for many. I think we all know folks who fit it!
DeleteYAY - glad you got rain, hopefully that will cool you a bit and not just make things more muggy. Love the free watering, and God's water is so much better than the hose!
I am working on a Amazon Gift Card to buy a vacuum parts kit. Does my vacuum need fixed? No, I got it for Mother's Day. BUT I know how much better it will work if I have the new brush roller, and filters already here. I am about halfway to the $35 I need.
ReplyDeleteYesterday we opened my large bedroom window and both cats reacted with glee.
Lastly, I am waiting for tomatoes to finish ripening and so today I am making a bunch of small batch Christmas items. They include Jalapeno mustard and Onion jam.
Have a frugal productive day!
Good for you on saving for what you want. It is always nice to have replacement parts.
DeleteThe fresh air is phenomenal and kitty sure does love it too. There is just something about fresh air.
I started on my gifts today with canning! Great minds.
Both your items sound so good - I do believe I would love either one, so I am sure your recipients will love it.
Oooh, that Will Rogers quote is great! :)
ReplyDeleteChilly here this morning - in the low 50s. What a change! But sunny, and I got laundry done and hanging to dry. Will sing this weekend, so planning pot-luck food. Bought a bag of chips because I try not to have them around the house, but they're good at a pot-luck and I'll delight in any leftovers. :D Maybe chicken salad would be good. Not sure yet!
Actually we will sing most weekends in September so there will be many chances to make pot-luck food. ;)
I wish the rag-weed would stop blooming. My eyes feel like two burned holes in a blanket. Pfft.

It is good isn't it.
DeleteIt was in the 50's here as well - I do love it. Just totally loving the cooler days and no AC. It will change here a bit by Monday.
Your weekend sounds fun. I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy yourself. Whatever you take will be eaten and enjoyed.
I am with you - my allergies have been awful the past couple weeks.
You are having our weather from last week. Meanwhile we're on the rise again, with hot (for us) temps expected to last through Monday of next week.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly live in a topsy, turvy world.
Kind of funny when you think about it. It will be warmer here by Monday too. I am sure enjoying it and all the fresh air and breezes.
DeleteI don’t like to owe money. I paid off my 30-year mortgage in 9 years by watching every dollar. For me it made the biggest difference in my financial life.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I stopped at my old house to see the painter and his assistant. It looks great and they will finish tomorrow. He is a gem - honest, excellent work and fair prices. The plumbing problem there was fixed Monday at a fairly low cost. So I’m making progress.
My three Rx eye drops all come from India. I recently renewed two and put in the third one this morning even though it is not due. I use GoodRx for this one because the cost is much lower. It has to be ordered. The 50% India tariffs that start today do not include pharmaceuticals, thankfully, but I’ve read that some deliveries from Europe and India have been halted until they can adjust their shipping systems for certain tariffs. I don’t want to run out of my Rx.
You are making great progress! That is great that that the old house is almost done. Too bad you can't send your guy here.
DeleteWe did 15 years on mortgage instead of paying in 30. The Blazer we paid in 15 months vs. the 5 yrs. It sure is a relief to do.
Glad your meds aren't included. I have heard GoodRX is good on pricing. I don't blame you - it sounds like they are important.
Glad you and Bitsy are enjoying the nicer weather. My kitties have been enjoying it, too! And yes, after learning my lesson the hard way when I was younger about credit cards, they are just not worth it unless you can pay them off each month.
ReplyDeleteThe fresh air is just to be enjoyed to the max.
DeleteGirl, we have all been there, I think. I had it all back in the day too, thank to ex husband - it was awful. Glad Glen wasn't like that.
It is cooler here and a little bit of rain! So nice.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!! I am so glad you got rain and a little cool!!!
