Happy Thursday to you all. Hope you are all well and safe. Gosh, here we are mid-month again. I feel like I really blink, and a month is half gone!
Another lovely morning here. The sunrise was just incredible this morning. God sure did a beautiful job of painting the sky this morning.
It is still very dry here, the grass is brown and parched. Looks like rain comes in late Saturday and into Sunday. Then we get cooler. Next week has highs in the 60's - but that is just fine to me.
I plan on finishing up the garden in the next few days. I have been working on it, all week - pulling produce. It may be a bit longer to get plants out.
Yesterday I did a lot of yardwork and boy was I tired last night. Fell right to sleep while watching TV! I did wake a couple times but slept well.
I did my work smarter than harder yesterday as well. I had a 55-gallon trash receptacle full of yard waste, and it was heavy. I was out front and needed to get it around the house and all the way out back. Stopped and looked around the garage and did some quick thinking and solved the problem some. I saw the little rolling low stool G used to use to check tires and brakes and such. I got the drum on top of it, added a rope (to pull) and got it out back without a lot of heavy lifting. YAY me! LOL
My neighbor/friend is moving in the morning. They will leave super early (before dawn), so today is good-bye day. I sure will miss them. They are moving 3 hours away to KY.
We spent some time talking yesterday and I will walk over and say bye today. They will be loading up the moving van today, so they will be busy.
I may do some canning in the next few days as well. I have a plethora of green tomatoes - so may make some relish. I guess it depends on my mood!
I am tired and a little sore, but there is always something to do.
A reminder to all in U.S. that Thanksgiving is 42 days away!!! That will be here before you know it. I have seen ads for Aldi (if you have them) that you can buy everything (including turkey) for T Day for $40 this year to feed 10 people. That is $7 less than last year!!!! Sure something to think about.
Take time this weekend to enjoy the great outdoors! Have a wonderful day.
Many blessings to all.
Batteries sure are expensive. Two years ago at an Ace Hardware grand opening I was lucky enough to buy two 8-packs of AA and two 8-packs of AAA for $1.99 per pack and I’m still using them. I now need two 9-volt batteries (smoke detectors) and the best price I’ve found is $8.99 for a 2-pack. Back in the day, Radio Shack used to give a free 9-volt battery each month with no other purchase required. I haven’t checked Dollar Tree. Years ago an acquaintance said their batteries ruined some of her battery-powered candles but that may have changed if DT even sells batteries now.
ReplyDeleteYes mam, batteries are expensive. I have had to purchase 9 volt and C and they have been very expensive for a good while.
DeleteI buy whatever I can find cheapest.
You were very clever in getting the heavy trash container to where it needed to be. Yup, work smarter, not harder.
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to rain, as everything is parched around here. The Farmer has been watering what produce we have left. Had a nice cucumber harvest yesterday.
Have a good weekend. See you Sunday!
I just couldn't get it to the back without some kind of help and the 2 wheeler was buried in the garage!
DeleteYes, we need rain so badly. How neat that you are still getting cucumbers. I have tomatoes and green tomatoes out the wazoo.
We have had foggy mornings the last 2 days but afternoons are in the 70's. We will be having rain on Sunday i believe. We still have tomatoes on the vine and there is a neighbor that comes by and gleans a few at a time but we are going to pick them and clean up the garden spot soon. We have friends that have chickens that we will be giving damaged tomatoes to. Hubby has his annual at the VA this morning then I think we will go to an estate sale later today.
ReplyDelete70's are perfect in my opinion. I am ready to clean up the garden too - well, kind of. It sure has been nice to have.
DeleteGlad your neighbors have been enjoying and what a treat that will be for the chickens.
You and your estate sales!! You sure do like them. I never seen estate sales around here. You can really get good things at them.
I'm lazy this morning. It was 36F at 0700 so I haven't gone for my 1st walk. I'll go out when it hits 45 and again later this afternoon in the 50s!
ReplyDeleteHubster is doing well for 15d post-surgery. :-) It is glorious to have him home again! 3 nights already!!!!!
Funny I did my walk later this morning too. I have done that a couple times this week.
DeleteSo happy to hear he is doing so well. What a relief and joy to have him home. He will heal faster there as well. Take care.
Great thinking on wheeling your trash away!!! I have a couple of similar "skateboards" that I use for heavy things. I may only use then once in a blue moon but they are so handy when I do.
ReplyDeleteThis week has been a yard cleaning one for me too. It looks a lot better, but still some way to go. Next year I am definitely doing less pots. Have a great weekend, take care, Louise.
Thanks - I needed help for sure. Now I am thinking that little rolling seat would be handy pulling weeds and some garden stuff. Sure would make getting around easier.
DeleteSeems the work never ends. But at least we can still do it!
Sorry to hear your neighbors are moving. It's always a little sad to see people we really like leave.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on getting the heavy barrel to move easier. Work smart not hard is always my motto too.
I'm looking forward to getting my garlic and flower seeds planted this Sunday whether it is raining or not.
They left a little early and are now gone today instead of tomorrow. Hugs, goodbyes and tears happened. Such good neighbors and my friends.
DeleteWe got to do what we can - so we make a way!
I bet you get wet! Good luck planting.
I wish I could send you some of our rain. It makes getting the yard ready for winter a bit difficult. I am keeping my fingers crossed for some nice, no rain days.
ReplyDeleteAs far as weekend plans, hopefully the yard cleanup finished, and if nice enough putting some paint on the basement windows to give them a bit of protection.
God bless.
