Finding Our Enough

Hello all and Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I hope this finds you all well and safe.
Boy, has there been some weather to end our winter around these parts.  Blizzards in many areas, cold in areas that don't usually get too cold and winds!  We went from 70's on Sunday (windy) and windows open, taking walks, and picking flowers - to snow covering the ground this morning and very cold!  Good golly.
I am so ready for warmer days!

I would like to talk for a moment about finding our ENOUGH!
We can have very little, just enough and too much (in my opinion).  What s enough?  I guess we all have a different view of that.  For me it is basic - a roof over my head, food for my belly and warmth.

Movies, TV, magazines, media - it all tries to tell us that we need more and that we aren't good enough as we are.  Don't fall for it.

I think knowing how to survive on less than the norm is a blessing.  It could possibly serve us well someday.  It lets us live and enjoy the small things and have pleasure in different ways.
It is about having what you need to get to point B.  I mean you can't take the leftovers with you!
It means less stress.

A smaller home gives you shelter as good as (or better) than a McMansion.  It is easier to take care of as well.  A WM watch tells time as well as a Rolex.  Basic, healthy and natural foods are better for you than all the caviar.  Secondhand clothes keep you warm probably better than designer clothes.
It isn't about the stuff for most of us.
The old saying 'he who dies with the most toys, wins" - is ridiculous!  Not sure how that is winning anything.
The money trap can be like jail - it traps you, and it is hard to break free.

Give me memories and daily simple joys over millions.
It is freeing to not worry about making tremendous wealth.  It is freeing to just love life and take it slower and enjoy all the small pieces.
It is freeing to release stuff and have a cleaner, less cluttered life.
I am really working on this.

Wealth should be what is in our hearts and how we share that with others.
THAT is golden.
Have you found your ENOUGH?  What does it mean to you.

Have a lovely St. Patty's Day.
Many blessings to you all.

  1. I like this so much, Cheryl. We don't need as much as we think we need and can do with so much less. This is a great message to send out into the world today. Happy St, Patrick's day to you too. This weather is crazy! lol

    1. Thanks - I know there are many young people that need to hear this and probably some older ones as well. We can get by with SO much less and still live a good life.
      Yes indeed it is crazy!

  2. Enough: Have all I need. Use what I have. Can afford what I want. Really don't care what others think about where I live, what I wear or what I do/don't do.

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

  3. Well said! The more you have, the more you have to mess with: cleaning, repairing (or running out to buy a replacement), or the urge to have MORE. We get to a point where what others think of us or what we have is just not important.

I am glad this weather will not last, and that we didn't get the really bad storms. While I feel bad that folks are enduring the extreme weather and damage that ensues, I'm happy we don't have it.

No sign of Licorice? We get attached to our fur babies.

Enjoy your day! We will have the last of the chili for our lunch today. It is definitely soup weather.

    1. Thanks. I am to the point that less is more!
      Elle said it perfectly!
I am so glad we dodged the bullet Sunday evening with the bad storms. I feel for those that got them.
No nothing yet. I talked with his former 'mom' yesterday - and it may be old Tom that is causing the problem. Licorice was fine, until Tom showed there and started bullying him. Licorice came here and had the run of the place - then Tom starts coming here. Tom is sweet with people but is a bully to other cats. None of mine like him. I run him off when I can - he just MAY be going someplace else to live!

  4. I have enough! In fact I have more than enough. (When you save early, the money grows by itself.)

I’m selling my house for less than if I waited to try to get a higher price. I’ve arranged for a repair found in the inspection by making sure it is done RIGHT even though the cost to me is more. The money I get from the home sale will not change my life, in fact I struggle to know where to even put it.

I LIKE living on a budget even though I could spend much more. What I don’t do is deny myself. I saw my mom do that much too often.

Today I woke up to “shockingly” cold weather. I had not looked at the weather report. It has been in the mid-80s and this morning it was 45 F. I had put my a/c on and switched the filters (weird system). I had taken the blanket off my bed - had to pull up the afghan at the foot of the bed this morning. Looks like it is going to stay this way all week. Barbara M.
