Sunrays, Smiles and Comfort

Hello all.  Hope you are all well this soggy day.
Rain and more rain in these parts.  Oh, my have we had more than our share.  Since Tuesday morning, we have had over 4" of rain.  Flooding is happening all over, including my backyard!  Lots of water in the neighbor's backyards as well.   Our drought seems to be no more at this point.  I am so thankful it hasn't been snow!!!  Gosh, that would have been a ton of snow.  Today should be in the 60's and tomorrow they are predicting near 80*.  I know we will have more cold weather - we just started March, so there will be more.  But this little reprieve is nice.  I will be enjoying each soggy, muddy, warm moment!!!

Don't forget that this weekend there is a time change for many of us.  Sunday at 2AM is the official time to move those clocks forward.
A little smile this AM.  Bitsy laying here the other afternoon, enjoying a sunray that was sneaking its way to his chair/bed.  So content.

Thought I would share a fix I made this week.  I have used the same house shoes for a couple years - but the bottoms (vinyl) started to crack, and they were getting caught on throw rugs.  I had a new pair of slippers in the closet, that I got before Big Lots went out.  They are very sturdy slippers and Dearfoams - they have memory foam on the inside.  Sounded perfect.
I have been using these for a couple weeks and they have kept my feet warm - but then I started having problems with my feet.  The balls of my feet and my toes were hurting and cramping.  Very uncomfortable.  It dawned on me that it didn't happen until I started wearing these.
Well, I had kept the old ones, and I got them out.  I decided to "fix" the soles.  Used duct tape - LOL.  White was the color I had - so what I used.  I wear them only in the house and I am alone, so they don't need to be pretty.  So much better are my feet.
Placed the tape over cracks and now I am wearing again.  I can't believe the difference.  My tootsies are thankful.  Pretty no - comfy yes.  Will get me through the rest of this season.

I guess next stop to donate at the thrift store, they will get a pair of slippers.
Just because something says it is better and more comfy - doesn't mean that it works for all.  Keep that in mind when buying new wearables.

When starting new things, don't be quick to get rid of the older.  Make sure things will work out.  Mini repairs may need to be done - so be it.  Make yourself and your body comfy.
Just my little tidbit for today!!!!

I sure hope you all have a great weekend.  Hopefully it is warming up some in your area and maybe you can avoid snow (sorry northern gals).
Change those clocks.
Have a fantastic weekend and know that you are each one in my prayers and my thoughts.

  1. Oh, our kitties love it when they can lay in a sunray too. Your house shoe fix is a real MacGyver, great job. I keep my older shoes too. I never know what I will need them for a muddy job in the yard or something similar.

Well, I wasn't going out an extra run for some comfy ones. So fix it, so I don't snag anymore! Aint pretty - but it works.
I will get new Isotoners at some point.

  2. Good for you! A huge mistake people make is not wearing good support under their feet indoors. (oh the foot surgery that would not have happened in my OR.....) When it's too warm for slippers, I have a pair of indoor-only Birkenstocks.

    Happy Thursday everyone!

    1. I do wear slippers - but soon I won't need them. I will get new Isotoners soon, just can't do those Dearfoams.
Our feet are so important for over all comfort.

  4. I almost always keep old items - at least for awhile - when I get new ones. One example is a strip shredder I’ve had for 20+ years, paid $10 at Staples, I believe, and knowing me probably got a rebate back when rebates were common. I bought a cross-cut shredder at Aldi maybe 10 years ago but it turned out to be junk. Thankfully I still had my old shredder (which I call “the workhorse”). Not as good as a cross-cut shredder but it works for me.

Stopped at my small Publix this morning for probably the last time since they close for good on Saturday. (I am such a sentimental fool and feel sad.) I had a $5/$30 coupon from Winn-Dixie and I’m not sure other Publix will accept WD coupons. Barbara M.

    1. It pays to keep things for a while. Maybe that is the reason I have so much in my house and garage!!! LOL
But yes, if something doesn't work as planned, then revert back to the old one.
Sorry your store is closing. I hate that when I like one and get used to it.

  5. The sun is always welcome, no matter the form; sun puddle, sun on your face, sun on the garden. Cute picture!

We got several pairs of slippers before Big Lots closed. So far they are holding up. They occasionally get a bath in the washer to freshen them.

I just came in from collecting my little sick dog from the backyard and the sky was actually clearing, saw some patches of blue. We have been lazy this morning, just puttering around.

Enjoy your weekend. Some nasty weather is predicted but "they" could be wrong.

    1. I take any sun. I went out to walk a bit ago, put on my shades as the sun was peeking out, and got a few doors down and the clouds set in again. Neighbor said I ran the sun off, because of the sunglasses! LOL. It was good to chat w/him; he is older than me and still does pretty good. Nice to see people after the winter weather.
Hope you baby gets to feeling better - poor thing.
I think we have seen enough nasty. At least it wasn't snow - can you imagine?
      Thanks
