Happy November! Welcome here and hoping this finds you all well. It won't be any time until this year is over. Time is flying by!
We had time change happen here over night - so I am up extra early today. The inner body clock just works the same for me and for the animals - no matter what the wall clock says!
We had the warmest October on record since 1947 here in my area. Amazing and this girl was loving it. This coming week looks to be more near normal temps. It is in the upper 50's right now going into 60's and pretty cloudy. The trees have finely started turning around here. Some are void of leaves, some are still green and others have beautiful colors. I still have petunias, geraniums, and begonias in pots that are blooming!!!
Shoot yesterday I saw motorcycle riders on the street, enjoying the weather. I even heard and saw the ice cream truck out yesterday afternoon - that is crazy this time of the year. I doubt that there were many, if any kiddos out last night on my street, as I only saw a couple of lights on. I was out back until around 7:30 and heard nothing.
I am still pretty sore. All the aches from the jolt are gone - but my upper bottom and tailbone are still fairly sore when sitting at a certain angle. Otherwise, I am fine and have gotten yardwork done with no pain.
My frugal week:
- Laundry in cold and hanging to dry
- Unplugged and defrosted the mini frig I have downstairs. It is used a lot during the holidays, and should have been defrosted earlier
- Picked single roses for a bud vase 2X this week
- Worked on cutting the frawns of pampas grass, the NE Aster plant (huge), and the climbing roses back
- Cleaned out the upstairs frig
- Made stuffed banana peppers with l/o rice mix I had and froze them
- Made mashed pots one day and used the extra for making potato cakes (froze a few)
- Still eating tomatoes and peppers from the garden - actually picked a few peppers this week! There are tons of baby ones out there
- Cat food run! Just a regular thing until I get a good stock myself - hard to do as they eat so much!
- Got gas while out for my monthly fill-up and got gas for the garage can as well (it will get used). Paid 3.09/gal. with my discount. I only drove 57 miles all month!
- Stopped by thrift store and got free bread
- Pulled a pound of farm fresh sausage (I was gifted) from the freezer - sliced and cooked up for use later on - packaged and froze
- Paid a couple bills by phone
- Just doing all the normal stuff
Budget friendly meals this past week:
Pizza rice skillet
Cheeseburger, 2 stuffed banana peppers, sliced toms
Beef Manhattan (using extra burger cooked yesterday)
Fried cabbage and smoked sausage and potato cakes
Loaded fries and salad
Taco rice bowl
French bread pizza
SNACKS - fruit, salsa and chips, yogurt
I did have a couple days I didn't do much do to the fall, but I tried to keep busy. Just plugging along and trying to stay home and use what I have and be mindful of those things. I didn't really get any work done this week in the basement (except the mini frig) - will be getting back to that this week.
How was your week? What is going on in your area? I hope you are getting to enjoy some decent weather. Any deals this week? I love hearing from you all.
Wishing you each a beautiful week ahead. Stay safe and healthy.
Blessings to you and yours from me at my humble little home.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.
Hebrews 13:8
Dear Lord, we thank You so much for watching over us and blessing us this past week. It is a wonderful and comforting feeling to know that You are and will always be with us, no matter what goes on in the world. May we never lose our faith and our love of You. Guide us each one to do the right things and help us to not be afraid or stressed. Let us give our worries up to You. AMEN
My daily thankful - I am so thankful for decent health, and that I can still take care of myself

Glad to hear you are recovering from your fall. I had to go back to read what happened, being on the road, I missed several days of reading.
ReplyDeleteTake care and watch your feet. :)
Thanks - it was a fluke of a thing, but I tend to be a clutz!
DeleteYou have had quite the week - glad you have made your destination, and can now maybe rest up a little.
Have a great week.
The last wk of Oct started with halloween cookie decorating with the neighbor little & her mom. Such fun. And she delighted me with her visit yesterday as she made her trick or treat rounds dressed as Elsa from Frozen. It took 10 hrs to stack 4 cords of wood. The stacks were covered with tarps before the snow/rain mix settled in on Mon. The right stove was delivered on Sat after the wrong stove on Fri. Finally, a working oven! I enjoyed lunch & scrabble with a friend, made nalysnyky again at the assisted living lodge, there was an overnight visit from my son & I attended the funeral of a neighbor. And that's another week at the bottom of the hill. In the kitchen: pork chops w/ apples; mashed potatoes & carrots; mixed berry crisp w/ rhubarb, saskatoons & raspberries. Leftovers were the mainstay of the menu last week. Today the new stove will get a workout. Keep on keeping on.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun. Oh Elso the frozen princess.
DeleteThat is a lot of stacking - but will provide so much warmth.
YAY on the stove and OVEN! You can bake away!
Sounds like an eventful week, glad you got a family visit in there.
Goodies all sound good. You are swooning with the thought of using the stove, I can tell!!
Have a great week.
I hope you had a lovely birthday week, Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteKeeping enough cat food on hand can be a challenge. When my Pippi was sick during Covid she was VERY picky about her food and kept changing what she liked. At the stores, certain “flavors” would be available one week and not the next. My pantry looked like the cat food section of the grocery store with almost every variety, many that Pippi had decided she didn’t like. When she died, I gave a lot to my friend who was a Meals on Wheels volunteer and had a woman on her route who had a cat and really appreciated the cat food. Made me feel good.
Main thing for me this week was I got my new mailbox put up. My neighbor returned home from his trip and helped me yesterday. I had dug the hole. Neighbor and I both talked to the mailman a few days ago about the location. I had a heck of a time finding a small (10 pound) bag of cement but got it at Ace. I could not handle 50 pounds. If I had to do it myself I could have done it but needed another set of hands for the leveling and help with the cement. Barbara M.
Thank you so much. Just glad to have another one!!!
DeleteCat food is a challenge. I remember there not being a lot of wet food during covid. Outdoor cats will pretty much devour anything, Bitsy is more picky. Has favorites.
That was nice to help someone else with the cat food.
Glad you got the mailbox all done. Another job off the list!
Sometimes more hands makes for quicker results.
Have a lovely week.
Busy week here but so pleasant with the great weather we have been blessed with.
ReplyDeleteMade deviled eggs and potato salad amongst other things. I do remember there were left-overs and roasted chicken thigh quarters found on the mark down section. I can use roast chicken for just about anything. Made and froze 6 portions of bread pudding as I had cinnamon rolls that needed used. Cleaned and defrosted my fridge, outdoor work almost done. I have 2 planters that are still blooming and I hate to empty them until they are done.
Lots of leaves coming down now so leaf removal going on a bit at a time.
Stocking up detergent and TP for Christmas presents....might sound weird but the family needs nothing and always look forward to receiving it and it always provides a laugh.
JC
The weather has been magnificent! Potato salad sounds good, it has been a long while here. Chicken can be made into so much.
DeleteLove that flowers are still going - I won't take mine out until the frost or freeze kills them. Oh leaves, my nemesis!
I think TP and laundry detergent is fantastic - I would love to get that kind of gift. That is why I do baskets - no one needs stuff - so I give odd ball food items they like but don't buy.
Being wise and having fun with it too!
Have a wonderful week.
I spent a couple of days in bed due to covid vax reaction. Funny how it affects some people and not others. Chills, headache, nausea, lymph node pain, muscle and joint pain... slept for hours and hours. Oooof. Much better now. Made it to church and everything!
ReplyDeleteMany of my leaves are down, but the summer flowers are still blooming so I've not pulled them out yet. Today and chilly and wet - light rain.
Good that you are better from your tumble. It takes a while to get over something like that! No Halloweeners here so I get to eat the few Peppermint Patty candies I bought just in case. :D
