Hello all. Hope everyone is well and safe. Hope you all full bellies, and tons of gratitude in your heart. Well, Thanksgiving Day is over (for most). I know some may not celebrate until later this weekend. It is a cold morning, yet bright and sunny. Been out to feed the animals and have a small turkey breast already in the oven. Staying home!!!
So much food, so much family and friends, so many memories. Love it.
Before leaving yesterday, I watched (again) The Secret Garden, probably my favorite old movie. I watch it every year and never tire of it.
My niece did another bang-up job this year. Looked like she was feeding the entire neighborhood! AND it was all so tasty and wonderful. (she had been up all night).
Got to meet my newest gr.gr. niece - baby Bella, who is just a month old. Oh, my goodness, what a precious little soul. I snagged her up as soon as they came in and held her for the longest time! She is probably the last one for a good while.
All the littles were wired, to say the least! They were having a ball.
A fun day had by all.
It sure is starting to feel like Christmas is near. It looks to be cold for the foreseeable future. Snow is predicted tomorrow afternoon into Sunday. I really don't think my area will get that much - but it will be what it is.Are you planning on getting your holiday decor out this weekend? Or have you already done that?
I have been watching the news this morning and they are showing the malls and such - it really doesn't look that crazy out there.
Just a few weeks until Christmas, then the end of the year - it just doesn't seem possible. The countdown has begun. You ready?
I know I will be quite content staying in today. I guess it is time to get the snow shovel out - just in case, so I will do that. I will be filling up the portable containers of critter feed. Maybe some decor for the holiday - not sure.
This is the remainder of my tomatoes from the garden! I figured I would make it to Thanksgiving with them - and it looks like I will be eating them until Dec.1 at least!!!! They still taste good - better than the grocery store stuff. How cool is that?Wednesday was a crazy windy day. It seemed like that wouldn't end. We had 50+ mph wind gusts and steady heavy wind. It was gloomy and we had a few flurries. Then came sundown and my gosh it was just amazing. The sun had popped out, and we had another fantastic sunset. The wind started to settle some after dark. Yesterday ended up being a nice, but chilly day.
The above pic is through the window and doesn't do the sky justice. It looked to be on fire - and the brightest pinks.
As you can see, not a leaf to be seen on the trees after that wind. They are ALL down now!
Sunrises and sunsets just absolutely amaze me - the beauty of God's hand.
Well, I am going to jump off here and try to maybe accomplish something other than baking a turkey. It is starting to smell good!
I hope you have a great weekend, no matter what you do. Whether eating, shopping, decorating, movie watching or just snuggling - ENJOY it thoroughly!!!
Blessings to all.

Wonderful photo of the sunset! The weather patterns are strange this year, you are looking for possible snow and we have green grass at my daughter's.
ReplyDeleteWhile I've been working on Christmas gifts, I haven't really felt very "Christmasy" but I'm sure once I'm home that feeling will kick in quickly.
Enjoy your turkey!
We go from cold to warm over and over. It is strange.
DeleteI don't really feel "Christmasy" either. I guess I better get in the mood!
It is cooling now, and I will be carving soon. Oh YUM!
My turkey carcass has been simmering in the crockpot all night with the cutoffs of the onions and celery I used yesterday. We have plenty of leftovers to enjoy, so no cooking today. We are staying home too and pulling out our Christmas decorations and see how far we get. We like to take our time and enjoy the process. Hot chocolate is on hand too along with Christmas music.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Garden is one of our favorite movies too. We’ve watched multiple versions of it, but our favorite is the original. I would have cuddled with Baby Bella too, how sweet. Your tomatoes look perfect! I hope you have a win day, Cheryl.
Your day sounds perfect. Nice and laidback. I like that. I bet your house smells wonderful.
DeleteIt was the original movie - I just love it. They have digitized it to put color in the garden - but otherwise the original.
Oh baby snuggles are just the best. She is so sweet and never cried or fussed.
The tomatoes still taste great. Thanks!!
This was a different Thanksgiving - our hostess woke up sick and we had to regroup. Went out for early lunch, hostess stayed home in bed and slept. So glad there was someplace open that would take us. I brought home enough leftovers for dinner today as well.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is chilly - and my new heating system has gone pffft, throwing error codes after running about 10 minutes. New part on order, but of course not here yet, so it's pretty chilly in this house. Maybe I should be baking cookies but it feels a bit early for that. May do anyway, just to keep warm. Glad I have some backup heat, but it's not great.
Will put up new wreath on Monday, I don't like rushing the season. Somehow it seems like Thanksgiving has been squeezed out by Halloween and Christmas, but I think Thanksgiving is very important.
Be well and stay warm, y'all!
MaryB
So sorry the day turned out bad for the 'hostess'. Good way of recouping the day.
DeleteWhat the heck? The new furnace acting up - not good. I think I would be baking something or using a small space heater.
I got my wreath up - wanted to avoid the cold! I do like the Christmas decorations and enjoy them - not sure when I will put them up.
Stay warm!!!
Love that retro picture - you're so good to always find nice ones for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks - glad you like it. I love all things retro!!! Heck I am retro! LOL
DeleteOld time Christmas just screams holiday to me.
So glad to know your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Also, the sunset pictured is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you and thank you!! I so love sun pictures.
DeleteI'm happy to hear you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your family. The sunsets have been gorgeous lately. Enjoy your turkey and have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope you had a great one as well. Sunrise and sunsets have been gorgeous. Some of my favorite things.
DeleteHow wonderful to have such a lovely Thanksgiving celebration. The photo of your sunset is just perfection.
ReplyDeleteIt is cold and getting colder here, more snow is to fall over the next week as well. Christmas is coming by leaps and bounds and I can just hope I am ready for its arrival.
God bless.
Thanks - it was lovely. I so love being around all the young ones.
DeleteStay warm and safe. It is coming here as well.
I hope I am ready too - it sure will be here soon!
Awww, you got your baby lovin' fix! I bet the little ones were wired. Lots of company and lots of good food.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture on the sunset! Ai has nothing on our Creator.
The 'maters still look good. We have a few green ones in the garage. Didn't fix any this summer so that may be on the menu for next week.
Enjoy your weekend and pray we don't get the snow some are predicting. Although the Farmer said that Ryan Hall Y'All thinks we will get ice. Even worse!
I did get my fix! Oh the kiddos were having a blast.
DeleteYou have that right - nothing beats God's creations.
Oh gosh, you need some fried green tomatoes!
I hope we don't get a lot and that it gets warm enough to melt what we do get. Guess we will see.
Happy thanksgiving and your day sounds wonderful! Glad the weather kept the driving manageable. I went out to a restaurant with friends so it was a nice afternoon and the food was excellent. First thanksgiving meal out in a restaurant for me in maybe thirty years ;). I did buy and freeze a Turkey since I love to cook one at home…just like you did. Have a good week, Hilogene in Az.
ReplyDeleteThank you and yes, it was a great day. I am glad you were with friends! I have never 'gone out' for Thanksgiving. Maybe one day. The turkey breast sure came out tender and juicy! Glad you got one to fix as well.
Deletebeautiful sunset!
ReplyDeleteI am all ready for Christmas, but I buy all year long. Going to make out my Christmas cards today and wrap some presents. Maybe get the tree up. Not really feeling like decorating, but Annabelle said I shouldn't let the moments go by, lol.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and has a ncie weekend. Jealous of your snow, if you get some.
Good for you on being ready with the gifts done. I have my cards - so soon on them. Annabelle is right - moments are what make up our days - and we need to enjoy and celebrate them all. Little things are big things at some point.
DeleteIt just started flurrying here, truthfully, I could do without! I would send it to you if I could.
Beautiful sunset and delicious tomatoes! Perfect! Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteThanks - and then the cold and snow comes!!
