Weekly Wrap Up 2/1

Happy Sunday, happy February to all.  It sure seems like January took forever to go away!  LOL
We started today with 1*F and a full moon.  We had snow flurries all day yesterday - but nothing needing shoveled.  Today will get into the 20's and then maybe low 30's later in the week.  WOOHOO!  That seems warm.  I am hoping we are now past the subzero actual temps, at least for the for a while.
We gain just over an hour of daylight hours this month!  Slowly we are getting there.  The snow has been pretty, but I am done looking at white.  I really need color.

I hope each of you say this little prayer and say it often.

This week my list will be shorter than normal, I believe.  Just such a tiring week.
My frugal week:
  • Moving snow!!!  Lots of snow.  I have moved snow every single day this past week - just to make paths and walks safe.  Had to then dig out the end of drive after plows came through, so as to be able to get out safely.  Doing this every day has been good FREE exercise - but it sure has exhausted this gal's body.  I go in spurts, so as not to overdo it.
  • Did pay a guy from down the road to move the deepest on Monday (in drive).  So worth every penny. (one reason to always have cash on hand)
  • I paid all bills due by phone or online!  (Yes, I did pay some online finally)
  • I caught up on laundry
  • I worked on deep pantry a little more - still not done
  • I did finally get out on Friday and made a run to the feed store.
  • I got gas while out - $13.45 total fill-up for January, at 2.14/gal.  Used my points, as they were about to expire
  • Froze leftover cooked ham and some soup I made this week
Meals this past week:
Cabbage/ham and fried potatoes
l/o chili with sour cream added and grilled cheese sandwich
Chicken tenders, fries and salad
Creamy chicken/turkey noodle soup and crackers - 2X (so yummy)
Soft tacos
Loaded baked potato - l/o taco meat, jalapenos, cheese, sour cream
SNACKS - banana milkshake, l/o salad, pc. of chicken, ham slices, fruit and nuts

That's it.  Like I said, it has been a tiring week - even though the list is short.  My body is tired.  The extreme cold hasn't helped.  I am outside a few times every day feeding and leaving water for the animals.
I am so ready for at least a little warm up.
I hope you all check in and let us know how things are going.

I sure hope you are all doing well and that you are safe.  I know you Florida gals and states N of there are getting very COLD for that area right now.  I hope you are all safe and warm.
Prayers for all who need healing and prayers for good health for you all and your families.
Blessings to you and yours from me at my humble little home.

  1. Well it was extremely cold early in the week, then it warmed up on Thursday and Friday, and I did my 30 minute walks outside, ran first of the month errands, paid bills, etc. The temps dropped Friday night/early Saturday morning and I have not left my house and yard and that was only to take the dogs out. Whew! My oldest son really got it in the northern part of the state. I made a mixture of turnip and mustard greens, potato salad, coleslaw, and bbq chicken legs, and I will eat on that this week until it is gone. My outside faucet is still dripping but I will turn it off this morning because we are going to hit 40 today! Yay! It is supposed to be 68 on Tuesday, in the town where I work, hallelujah!!! 67 where I live!!! It then dips again but not anything like last night!!!! Stay warm!! Cindy in the South

  2. I am still suffering from the after effects of my cold. I start the day full of energy, attempt a few jobs and then feel pooped. I keep reminding myself to listen to my body and do what it is telling me to.
In other news, we have a sunny day today. I took a little wander around the garden and looked at the snowdrops that are in flower and the crocus that are just starting to open up. Spring is on its way!

  3. When I got up today it was 10F but sunny. High expected of 20F and then below 10F tonight, and then finally a bit of warming. So far the power stayed on and the water pipes in my house did not freeze, thanks to the woodstove. More snow later in the week though.

Today I need to go sweep snow off things and generally try to prepare for the week ahead. :) I am grateful that the Good Lord has looked out for me. If I tried to count my blessings I'd run out of numbers!

  4. We had a short week too mostly staying home because of the cold. You sure did a lot of shoveling this week! That is definitely tiring. Let’s hope the snow is done for the time being.
