Howdy all. Here we go ending another month! Yesterday was 89*(F) here - but it really didn't feel bad. Today will be around 87* they say. Looks like it will be in the 80's for at least the next 7-10 days and not much of a chance of precipitation at all. Summer just isn't letting go.
We are now at this point in the seasons. Time for fall festivals and soon the end to farm markets. Most all the farm markets conclude here in October. Crafty sales will be starting, and the thoughts will go towards thinking of holiday gifts.I had a pretty good September. I got to see lots of family and friends. That is always good. The garden has been producing a lot and still is.
Can you believe we have now made it through 9 months of the year??? Seems like just yesterday it was NY day! Time has flown by, so you know the next 3 months will be gone in a flash!
Let me show you a couple things I got this month.
Here are the sweet little ornament that I received from Cookie. She does the nicest work and is always thinking of others.Look at this cute container. This is what my niece sent chili home with me in. She had several of them. They are REUSABLE! I can put my hand on the lid and spread my fingers, so it is pretty nice size. I got 2 of them. They would be so cute to use for snacks or treats. I don't know where she got them, and I well imagine they weren't cheap. I bet they cost more than I would pay - but she doesn't worry much about those kinds of things! She sent a lot of them home with people.Plans for October for me. This is homeowner's insurance month! UGH. It has gone up a LOT again this year. I pay it once a year - so it isn't a surprise, I just hate giving them that money!
That is my big expense this month.
I need to get my plans together and start some gifts I am thinking about making for the littles for Christmas. I want to make some stuffed patchwork cuddly toys. A dinosaur, a cat and a couple Mini Mouse items. Maybe a baby blanket if there is time - I will be getting another new gr.gr. niece sometime this month!
I plan on not shopping much in October. I have gone through all my supplies - of all sorts - and there truly is no need to shop for much. I may hit a farm market sometime this month or the orchard to get apples but really need nothing. It isn't about saving money, it is about trying to use up the older items and using what I have. I am chronic about buying the 'deal'. Well, it doesn't make much sense to have all this stuff and not use it. DUH! So, this will be a month of use it.
As for fresh - I still have lots of fruit, I have tomatoes and peppers out the wazoo - and I have veggies and fruit in the freezer and canned. I won't need milk for a couple weeks+, nor cheese or butter.
I want to continue to clean for 'fall' cleaning. I have kept the windows open a lot lately and there seems to always be dust, and those darn dust bunnies everywhere! I want to continue to declutter in the basement - just so much that hasn't been used in years.
BUT I also want to enjoy the month and the season.
What do you have planned for October? I love hearing what everyone is up to, and it often gives us all good ideas! Give us a shout!
Have a super day and enjoy this last day of September.
Do what you can, with what you, where you are!
Since I cleaned out the refrigerator downstairs I’ll use it as cold storage for apples this winter. It’ll be perfect and not crowd the fridge upstairs. I’m glad to see September go as I had to really tighten my purse strings this month, but we made it through. Yahoo! 😂
ReplyDeleteSeeing family is terrific, I was able to see some in September too. Those pumpkin ornaments are adorable! Yesterday the weather was perfect here, sounds like you all are still hot though. I hope it starts to cool off for you soon.
That will be great to have all that room for cold storage. Heck it would work for winter squash as well, if you like that sot of thing.
DeleteYou made through - that is the great part. I think we all have those months now and then - and it can be a struggle. That is why we are frugal!
Really the temps are up, but it feels pretty nice. No humidity at all. The windows are open most of the day - so not complaining.
Daughter and I went to a singing convention with friends out of state and it was wonderful. We ate out both evenings (yummy stuff) and had potlucks at lunch times. OMGoodness, so much food and all so good. I'm not looking at the scales for a few more days, don't want to know what "the damage" is. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I need to get my Xmas stuff in order: gift lists and what I need to purchase, what cooking supplies I may need for extra treats and gifts.
We're having rain and more rain which is great. So many trees were damaged last year that the risk of fire this year is above normal, but not in this weather.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. So glad your daughter could join you. Just avoid the scales for a bit!!
DeleteIt is that time, isn't it? We are all making lists and seeing what new ideas we can come up with.
Glad you are getting rain - you have had enough problems, sure don't need fire.
I just cut out three Christmas aprons for gifts last night. I need to go through my stash and make more just regular aprons for others.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Aprons are a nice gift. So many neat ideas out there for making them super special.
