Weekly Wrap-Up 2/5

Happy Sunday to all my sweet friends.  I hope this finds you all well and safe.
We are going to have a little milder day today with a lot of wind.  40's sure beat teens!  This coming week looks to have warm temperatures for another short while.  Soon the temps will break, and we will be in spring!!!  It won't be long.
The daylight hours are definitely getting longer.  I love that.
I noticed the other day that I have leaves to daffodils up about 2"!!!!!  We have had a couple days of sun as well.  That sure can make a difference.

It has been quite the week - well actually couple of weeks.  So much on my mind.  Much that has just made me think and reflect.  I have done little in the way of accomplishing things - lots of napping, eating and thinking.  That is OK - I am feeling refreshed and I am about to get back on track!!!!!  Yes, I am.  Thank you all for hanging in there with me.

My week:
  • Spent time Monday at the emergency vet
  • Doing a lot of extra laundry
  • Cut my hair - boy it sure does grow fast
  • I did run to the feed store to get more supplies - great part ALL bird seed was on sale 25% off - deal until 2/15!!!!!  That was a nice savings and surprise
  • Restocked all the feed cans and feeders
  • Got my new months' worth of extra coupons from Kroger - I sure do like getting those now.  I went forever not getting any
  • I did stop at Kroger while out at feed store.  I got milk, bread, tangerines and cherry tomatoes
  • Using supplies I have on hand and cooking from scratch & using leftovers
  • Just doing all the normal things we all do - nothing exciting at all

Meals this past week:
Chili mac (chili from freezer)
Sliced cheese, summer sausage and crackers - just a snack
Beef tortilla soup (from freezer) over mac
Spanish rice, chopped steak and salad
Sausage biscuit and salad
Salad and just this and that in the frig.
Tamales over rice

Not a lot of exciting eating this week.  Just wasn't in the mood to cook much - so odds and ends were eaten, and I was still plenty satisfied.  I don't always need a big meal.

How was your week?  Are you keeping warm?  Anyone else having decent weather for a few days here and there?  Any deals this week?
Give us a shout out and let us know what is going on in your world!!!!!

May you all stay warm and cozy and of good health and safe this week.
Blessings from my humble little home to you and yours!

I can do all things in Him that strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Isaiah 40:29

Lord, You know that each of us gets weary and full of despair at times, but You never leave us.  You hold our hand and guide us through it all.  Forgive us when we have doubts, and when we feel powerless, as we know You are there and You fill us with Your spirit.
Give us each the strength we need to accomplish and be successful each day.
Amen

  1. I'm glad you took the week to relax and reflect. That is so important and so necessary at times. Our weather is very similar to yours and is supposed to be warmer but also rain off and on all week. We sure have had a lot of moisture this winter whether from snow or rain. Enjoy your Sunday!!

  2. This has been a week of lying low due to respiratory s/s. There's an outbreak of covid at the lodge where my mom lives & she did test positive. My rapid tests for covid have been negative so it's not that but it's something. What's the old adage? It'll last 10 days with or without treatment. I cancelled a girls' day out to the city & a movie (80 for Brady). The weather has been mild but I just don't have the energy to go outside for anything more than what's necessary. I did get the neighbor's house checks done which includes tending to their 2 cats. I think I'd like to come back in another life as one of their or your cats! Lots of reading, tv watching from the couch, afternoon naps. I did get a batch of monster cookies made. Meals this week: quesadillas; tuna salad sandwiches with sprouts; home baked beans; bean soup; rice pudding; pan fried pickerel.

    1. Oh shoot. Take care of yourself. Sorry you are under the weather. I have heard lots of people say they have bad colds.
LOL - on being one of the cats!!!!!
I was just sitting here thinking about baked beans - I think that may on the schedule for today.
Take care and enjoy the down time and get well quickly!!!!

  3. Yes, it's good that you took the week off to relax and regroup. Sometimes it seems like we get slammed with all kinds of stuff.

Can you believe the temps for the coming week? We'll take it! Have some outdoor things to do so it'll be nice not to freeze while doing chores.

One of my nephews had open heart surgery last week. He is doing well but it may take up to a year to fully recover. He has always been slim and to my knowledge was not a smoker.

    1. It sure did help.
I know - love the predictions on the weather. Makes getting outside a lot more enjoyable for sure.
Prayers your nephew has a complete recovery - that is a serious surgery. Sounds like he has a good start to re-cooping!
      Have a nice week.

  4. We are snug and warm here. I wear a summer nightgown with a winter gown over it when I am sitting around the house. Then, I wear just the summer gown to bed. Temperatures will be 60s and 70s here this week. Cleaner is coming in two hours, so that is nice.

Glad your lady is coming to help you a bit. Enjoy your day!

  5. Hi Cheryl, It sounds like your week has been peaceful, so happy to hear about the birdseed, that is so great.

Love those scriptures, they sure spoke to my heart.

    You are a blessing!
Oh...and our weather? We had a sunny day yesterday and cool. Today looks like it might be sunny too? We sha'll see. : )

    1. Thanks - just a week of reflection.
The sun is shining here today - breezy, so still feels chilly, but temps warming up. I love the sun!!!!!
      Have a great week.

    2. Thank you, you too Cheryl! I'm so sorry though...I forgot about the part that you were at the emergency vet's on Monday and remembered at lunch that I did not comment on that at all this morning. That was not peaceful. I'm so sorry I forgot to acknowledge that, that was heartbreaking for you. Yes, thank God for the sun today!

  6. I am a fairly new reader and based on some of your older posts, guess that we live pretty near each other. My question is, how do you get on the list to get Kroger coupons? I shop at Kroger much more often than Meijer, and still get Meijer coupons each month, but not Kroger. Is there a secret to it?

    1. Hello - glad to see another Hoosier here - we have a couple.
I had to get a new Kroger card - as the one I had was over a decade old (way over). I never got coupons with the old one.
They transferred all my points to the new one. Now I can get digital coupons (they are great), and they send me coupons for things I buy. I get a new set of coupons each month. I hope that helps.
Glad to have you here, look forward to getting to know you and have you share ideas!!!!!
      Have a great week.

  7. Good morning! Although the big snow (from a little over a week ago) hasn't fully melted, we've had sunny, warmer days. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, which should clear up the last bits of snow.

After 22 total hours of driving, we got back home Monday afternoon. The Celebration of Life was very nice. It was good to see family, some that we may not see again in this lifetime. It was also good to be home. BIL and one Uncle should arrive today with a U-Haul truck + trailer for BIL's storage units. Uncle has to be back in Phoenix tomorrow, so it'll be a quick trip. BIL probably has 2-3 more trips with stuff before the end of the month. I get tired thinking about it, but this, too, shall pass. Thank you for those verses and prayer!

Meals were simple: spaghetti and meatballs, roast chicken with rice and veg, pork ribs with rice and veg, pork fried rice, French toast and eggs (we sometime like breakfast for dinner), and a pot of sausage, spinach and tortellini soup using homemade broth. Not many grocery deals this week, but we're pretty well stocked, so just milk, bread, eggs, some produce and peanut butter. Tasks were just the usual things, though I did bake a big batch of chocolate chip cookies, which I'm sure will be welcome today.

    1. So glad your trip was safe and that you had a nice visit with all. It is sad, that we see some relatives so little. Everyone keeps getting older, yet we do not visit more.
That is a lot of stuff to be moving - my goodness. That would make me tired thinking about it too.
Your meals sound great. I love supper breakfast for supper.
That is why I only got milk and bread and very little else this week. There just wasn't any good deals and I need NOTHING!
Mmmm you are the second one mentioning cookies. I need to get busy!
Have a nice and relaxing week.

  8. It was a quiet week here too. Good deal on the Kroger coupons. Your meals sound good to me. Sometimes just a cheese sandwich will satisfy me. It’s the simple things. 😊

    1. I love those coupons - they are really oriented to things I buy (aren't they tricky), and they save money.
Yep - it doesn't need to be fancy to be filling. Love having an easy palate.
      Have a good week.

  9. Glad you took some time to yourself this week to rest and reflect. We all need to do that, regardless of what is going on in our lives.
The warmer weather has arrived, hooray! Followed by more snow, boo! But I'll take a bit of snow for the just below freezing temps. It looks it will last for at least a week - I don't trust the forecast more than 7 days out.
The daffodils will be welcome I'm sure. They are such happy flowers.

    1. Thanks. I think we do too.
Got to love the warmer weather - although, you probably more than us. It is so stinking cold where you are!!!!!
It won't be long and we bill seeing colors and things popping open and bees a flying! I am ready.
      Have a good week.

  10. Rest and down time are so beneficial and nothing else will do. It has been a week of prayer here. So many were sick and in need but the week ended with many good reports of healing. We got out to the stores yesterday to grab a bunch of crazy good deals and freebies. We also had a prowler shining a flashlight in our screen porch on Wednesday night. These are desperate times for many but coming into our backyard while we were still awake was just not smart.

    1. I am glad the sick around you are doing better and healing. It seems to be the time of the year that so many are coming down with things.
Glad you had some crazy good deals to go after. Nothing much here.
Oh my gosh, that is just too scary. People sure have some nerve. It is amazing the stories that you hear. Stay safe and maybe get a motion light around that area.
      Have a good week.

  11. I’m glad you’re resting up, eating what sounds good and taking care of yourself. Your meals sound warm and nourishing.
We’re having sunshine today and it’s in the 50s! It surely does make us peek out and perk up ;) Like you we had another arctic blast briefly, which makes us appreciate this weather all the more.
I’m told that south of us (Texas) and west (OKC) got it far worse. Come on Spring!
Yes, the days are getting longer👍🏻🌞👍🏻
Praying for you🙏🏻and all of us!! Keep taking it easy~

Sunshine can make all the difference in mood and attitude with me. I just love seeing the sun and the blue skies. I think many of us are really over this winter!
It sure has been nasty and cold in a lot of the country. We really have been fortunate here this year. Looking forward to spring all the same.
      Have a blessed week.

  12. Chickadee #2 gives me a big kiss, hug- very happy to see me. And as she's twirling around on one foot and singing and talking she mentions, my sore throat isn't as bad today. YOU HAVE A SORE THROAT!! Yah, she says but it doesn't hurt as bad today. Two days later I've got it, but it didn't come with the energy to twirl and sing. She's long over it and I'm still dragging along. It's a good thing grandparents LOVE their grands. :-[
Glad you're back, Cheryl. We all need times of rest and reflection.
Today we need to do a bits and bobs meal.
    Nice weather here but windy.
    Happy Sunday to all.

    1. Oh my goodness. Bless her heart - still a happy camper on spite of being sick. Someone should have warned you though!!! You poor thing - I hate getting a sore throat. Take care of yourself and gets lots of vitamins in you. Drink some warm drinks.
Those bits and bobs meals can be quite tasty.
Sunny but windy here as well. That wind feels cold, even though the thermometer says warmer.
Hugs and take good care and feel better quickly.
