Simple Life

It sounds like a dream - a simple life.
I think it is something that most of us here are striving to accomplish.  Society today doesn't seem to follow this way of life.  It appears the more you have - represents how successful you are.  I don't find that to be so.  I think it just shows you are out to impress others.
I want a simple life - I was a less stressful life - I want a drama free life - I want a calm and reflective life.  That doesn't necessarily involve stuff!

I am working on this.  I have definitely been eating less and I feel better physically.
I am definitely buying less - nothing I really need.
Trying hard to stress less and working on laughing more again.
I feel extremely blessed and  loved every day.
I spend time every day outside JUST enjoying nature and the quiet and reflecting.

I need to work more on clearing out all the extra stuff I have accumulated that really means nothing and does nothing to make me happy.  I don't need any additional clutter in my life.
That is a huge area I need to simplify!

How about you?  Are there areas that you need to work on?  What are you ideas on ways to simplify?
Do you feel happier when life is simple?
It just seems to make an immense amount of sense to me - simple life = happy life!

Hey guys you might want to check out Belinda's blog (Frugal Workshop) in my blog list at the right https://savingmoneyinmytennesseemountainhome.blogspot.com/ this week.
She is doing a podcast each week and then actually putting it in blog (written) form the next day.  This week (and previous ones) seem to follow right along with all that we were talking about last week.  Give it a read or a listen.  Great info and it just reiterates what we all can do to save money.

Have a good day everyone.  Keep it simple!!!!!

  1. I am with you on this. I am very happy staying home working on my garden, cooking and being with Hubby, the kids and dogs. I don't need more.

    1. Exactly. The beauty is there - and it is in everyone. We just need to see it.

  3. I'm on the same journey. I've managed to rid myself of a fair amount of stuff but the house is still hanging over my head. I feel as though once I'm in a smaller place the stress will reduce significantly.

    1. Good for you. I want to keep my little home for now - but trying to rid it of stuff is quite a task. Working on it daily.

  4. I love this saying. We all have too much stuff, both physical and mental.

  6. Yes! I agree whole heartedly... With each year, I seem to learn to live with less and less. Finding contentment in the simple, is where happiness lies.

  7. Cheryl I am just catching up here as I have had a few things going on and am behind. I am going to attempt the inventory too but it will be a massive undertaking so I will do it in sections i.e. laundry, bathroom, pantry, freezers etc. A friend of mine Glenda reads your blog and loves it very much. She was telling me she cant comment something to do with google... she has tried. So I said I would tell you how much she appreciates your work. I am feeling the same. The less I go to town, the simpler we live the happier I am. I like spending time with the chickens and the lambs and the puppy. The orchard and veggie garden are the best places. Pure happiness. Animals really show the love of God and goodness. As for food and groceries prices are going through the roof. All methods to save, reduce, conserve, cut back, stretch need to be used! I am enjoying my catch up! xxx

    1. Thank you Annabel and please tell Glenda thank you. I don't know why she can't post - that is upsetting to me. Has she set herself up a GMail account? It is so easy to do.

You ae so correct that inventory is a big venture. Same here - I have to do it in sections.
Living in the country as you do would be blissful - a lot of work - but blissful. I love getting to see pictures of all your new babies!

Animals are the pureness that we all need in our lives. Nature gives me so much joy.

Thank you again for your comments and please let Glenda know that I appreciate her reading and I hope she figures a way to post!
      Have a blessed day.

  8. Cheryl, wondering if you have discovered Facebook Marketplace? There are some things I just didn't want to donate and found out about this marketplace and it was so easy to sell things and met the nicest people. Sometimes selling gives you $$ for buying what you need and allows for one to donate 10 percent to charity foo.

    1. I have seen it and never used it. It kind of scares me meeting up with strangers. We have certain areas around town for that thing (one being police station). I may have to give it a chance. Thanks.

  9. We are working towards making life more simple and we have made some strides. We have found that we just don't need a lot anymore. It is making everything easier.

  10. I just read this post on Aug. 6. Since the Ohio kids were here in July we have hardly had to shop at all. We are still eating from that shopping trip. Dh did get a med. sized cooler for our vacation this past weekend. But other than a few produce items (bananas) and a little dairy (halfnhalf) we've been eating out of pantry and freezers. This weekend we'll do another small shop. It's been so nice to not have to worry about going to the store and fun to use what we have here. Looking for new recipes, etc.
I'm looking forward to next month when I can concentrate on more decluttering. This month I need to finish DGD's quilt.
