Light Reads and Joyful Tidbits

Good morning.  10 days and Christmas is here!!!!  WOW.
Just a little post to let you know that posts from now through the end of the year will just be light reading.  No serious topics.  Ideas, thoughts, memories, neat tidbits and such will be the basis of the next couple of weeks.  It is the time of the year that we should be enjoying ourselves and our families and our friends.
We will go back to more serious talks after the first of the year.

This is the shadow on my pantry door!  Isn't that lovely?  To the right of it is my dining room window and there is a plant on a stand and a stained-glass cross in the window.  In the late afternoon (when sun is shining) this is my view from the living room!
Just those little things that make my heart know I am loved and blessed!

Has anyone tried this?
Winter spiced cranberry Sprite!  I found this last time in the grocery and thought I would try it.  I guess it shows up around the holidays - but my first time of seeing it.  It is really tasty.  Light, crisp and a bit zippy.  I may get a few bottles before the holidays are over, just to have on hand.  It would make a lovely spritzer drink or any kind of cocktail - if so inclined.  I think I would like it if I were sick as well.
It is really good just as is.

OH.... before I forget.  Mark your calendar or set your recorder - Sunday, December 19 at 7:30 PM on PBS is the Charlie Brown Christmas Special!!!!!   This is truly my favorite Charlie Brown story out there.  Such a sweet and simple way of telling the story of Christmas.

Well, the sun is now up and today is to be a warmer day here in the heartland.  I will be busy in Santa's workshop taking care of all kinds of things
Is your workshop busy as well?

Have a wonderful day!!!

  2. I haven't seen that version of Sprite here, but we do get cranberry ginger ale around this time every year. It always sells out quickly so this year I bought four cases of cans. It should last us through to New Years.

My Christmas prep is mostly complete. I'm enjoying not rushing around like I have in years past.

I met the daughter of Charles Schulz on a cruise. Lovely woman and a prolific knitter.

    1. Mmmm - that sounds tasty too! I have never been a big soda drinker nor a cranberry person - but this mighty tasty.
Nice to have the down time!!!!!

Oh how neat. I bet she could share some stories!

  3. I have not seen that but will definitely be on the look for it. As Maebeme says, we get the Cranberry Ginger Ale here and my family really enjoys that.

I also love Charlie Brown Christmas .. enough that it is in my DVD collection. :)

Working had to finish the grandkid aprons and cookbooks .. it will be done soon.

    1. The ginger ale sounds really tasty. Probably a bit more zestiness!
Good for you on having a collection of DVDs.
Sounds like Mrs. Claus is busy at your house too!

  4. Hmmmm...we always have cranberry juice in the fridge so a splash in ginger ale or Sprite sounds really refreshing.

  5. How wonderful a sight! 😍 Love these free gifts reminding us we’re loved if we just see. Your doorknob is lovely...is that original?
Ooo, I’m gonna look for that Sprite! I think DH would enjoy that...fun, thank you!
TY for the heads up on Charlie Brown, too. We watched the Halloween and Thanksgiving ones thanks to your reminders.
I’ve been enjoying reading a “Murder, She Wrote” with a Christmas theme. I love Angela Lansbury and we used to watch the show with our mom years ago. It is so nice to slow down and enjoy the season.
We had a real winter (Pacific) storm yesterday. Weather!! With winds, rain and dark clouds. Today is sunny and crystal clear. My sister (who lost her DH) got to be with family in the Sierras for the snowstorm they got up there.
    Happy Christmas,everyone!

    1. It seems we get little subtle reminders all the time - paying attention is the thing.
Thank you - I have glass knobs all through the house. This house icky molded plastic knobs all throughout (that were original) and I decided to change that up! One of the first things I did here - glass knobs on every inside door. I just love them - they look so old fashioned.

Seems like a lot of weather has been going around. Lots of wind and rain and snow. Glad today is clear for you. I bet she got to see a lot of beautiful scenery.
      Enjoy your holidays!

  6. Love the silhouette on your pantry. So inspiring! For the first time EVER, it looks like I'll have a less stressful holiday season. Aside from 2 gift cards and a couple of small gifts (for non-family who will be joining our table for Christmas dinner -- if I wind up hosting, something like an inexpensive coffee mug with a sample size coffee and a box of my homemade cookies or loaf of homemade bread), I'm all done shopping. Still have wrapping to do, but it is very manageable this year. Have not seen the cranberry Sprite or ginger ale, but will look for it since it looks like it would be very refreshing. If you're looking for another option, may I suggest the La Croix Cherry Lime? And Aldi's has their own label, which is identical to the La Croix (in my opinion) and a little less expensive. Enjoy the day you are given!

    1. Thanks.
Glad your season will be less stressful. It is nice to have things done. I did some 'bagging' this morning. I love pretty bags!!!!!
Nice to always have a little something on hand for those unexpected guests.
Thanks, I will look for that as well. I need to go to Aldi in the next few days (for a GC) so will see if I can find that.
      Have a great one.

  7. Thank you for cluing us in on the Charlie Brown Christmas special, I told my almost 92 year old mom today and she was so happy to hear that. It reminds me of my childhood,Little Drummer Boy narrated by Greer Garson and all of those wonderful Gold Crown Hallmark Hall of Fames back then...

I also have some of those cookie cutters by Mirro! My mom always had though and mine are in still good shape, no rust or anything. The newer ones we've bought rusted on me...I thought they were stainless...Guess not.

    I appreciate you. Christmas Blessings!

    1. Oh how sweet that Mom is excited too! I remember watching Little Drummer Boy. I haven't seen that in years.
It seems the older things just hold up better.
Thank you and have a great holiday with Mom!
