It's the Little Things!!!

It doesn't take a lot to make me happy or get me excited.  I found a new THING today!
I made a run to Wal-Mart (UGH) to check on supplies of canned cat food.  They had it and I stocked up.  First little happy.  Secondly I checked their canning supplies - they had more lids (flats).  I got some more (2.74 a box) - even though I don't need.  They will keep till next year or whenever I DO need them.

Thirdly - I found something that will now make life better each day!  As I have mentioned, I have cataracts.  Those who have gone through this or have them now - know that different types of lighting affects how you see.  I have always had trouble at night (night blindness) but that is even worse with cataracts.  Computers can be a problem, different  times of the day vision is affected.
For me - the WORST is store lighting.  It is awful and makes seeing clearly really difficult.  All that over head lighting and florescent lighting is a pain.  There is always such a glare.

I found a help aid!
I wear sunglasses outside - but they seemed too dark for inside.  This is my solution!!!

Note - the sticker says "wear over your glasses". The lenses are a golden color                           No it doesn't bother me to wear them over glasses - I'd rather see than be vain!
They are designed for night driving - but I tried them while in the store and oh my goodness - everything in the store was clear and bright!!!  The glare was gone!
The price was $19.67.  So for a $20 bill I can now see clearly IN the stores and I have something that will also help IF I have to drive at night.
I was thrilled.

I am sure they can probably be found else where as they are Foster Grants.  I just happened to see them in my unexpected visit at WM.

Like I said - it's the little things in life.  Simple fix for now and I am happy.
I thought I would share this, as I know I can't be the only one who has this problem.  Those funs things we start to experience as we get older!!!!  UGH

Hope this helps someone else.
Enjoy and feel blessed with the little things - they can be huge!

  1. Cataract surgery makes a world of difference. I couldn't believe what I was seeing after I had mine done. Medicare pays for it if you have it. I am not sure how old you are.

    1. I do the same - but for me the sunglasses just don't get it in the store lighting.
I hope you find them and they help. That is exactly what they are for - night driving. It is worth the $.

  4. I have to have prescription glasses because of astigmatism. But, I might get some of these. Too much light in the car blinds me. however, I am not driving.

  5. What a great idea! I hadn't heard of these but will look for them now. I have cataracts but want to wait until I retire to have the surgery. If these would help a little until then, that would be great! Thanks for the good info Cheryl. Take care and have a good weekend!

    1. You are more than welcome. I was told to wait a while on cataracts - so glare has been a real problem. This is why I mentioned it - I was hoping the info would help someone.
      Have a good one

  7. It's exciting when you find a little thing that makes a big difference! You're so right: sunglasses don't always work in some places. I had cataract surgery nine years ago and it was probably the easiest procedure I've ever had.

Enjoy your weekend. I think we are supposed to have some rain and storms and then next week is hot again. It seems the summer has flown by.

    1. I hope I can have that same experience. I have heard horror stories as well!
It is hot already - been out pulling weeds and sweating like all get out.

    2. I went to Eye Specialists of Indiana. My surgery was at the office on North Meridian but they have an office in your neck of the woods at South Keystone Avenue.

    1. They are pretty darn cool. They even help with the glare of sun outside. I wore them while out pulling weeds this morning and they were great!

  9. I won't pay the price for prescription sunglasses so have been wearing sunglasses over my regular glasses for years. The only place I've found them is WM. I can see these would be good for glare, I'll have to see if our local store has them. My optometrist has identified cataracts in at least one eye but isn't suggesting surgery just yet.

    1. I have done the same with sunglasses - prescription sunglasses are crazy expensive. These are really great with glare.
I have on both - right is worse - one day soon they will go! I still see good - it is just the lights and glare.

  10. Maebeme,
We are already into summer, there may be not any left. I buy sunglasses at a dollar store that work great, also get reading glasses there. I have those stashed all over the house, in my purses and the car so I won't be without when I need them.

    1. I hope you find some and that they help. I have had night driving issues for decades!
I am with you on that - vision is so important. I think that is why it scares me to have the cataract surgery - you only get one set of eyes!
      Thank you!!!!!!
