Happy Wednesday to all. It is Thanksgiving Eve here in the US. Chilly morning, and we are to get rain and then a little snow later today and overnight. Supposedly, it will be safe by travel time. The temps are starting to cool, then boom come the weekend - cold! Oh well, it is time. Guess that will be December saying hello!!! We have been so fortunate in our area on warmer temps.
Many, many of us have people we have loved and lost, and that are no longer here on this earth. It is always hard and sad, but it seems the holidays make it feel even worse. I want to put it out there that we all need to remember the good times. How fortunate we were to have those times and those people in our lives as long as we did. We need to make sure they are talked about, and memories are shared - keeping them 'alive' in everyone's hearts and minds. I am a true believer that talking about them - keeps them alive in a fashion. Laugh at the stories. Celebrate them.
Happy Thanksgiving to you! Good advice to remember and respect the ones who have gone before us. We are always saying that "the boys (my brothers) would eat that", mention something that his mother was annoyed by, remembering my sweet mother.
ReplyDeleteThe Avon High School Marching Black & Gold swept all the contests and are marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. As a parent of children who marched in high school and Ball State for Alana, I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into the process.
Not looking forward to the teens but it's almost December. Bound to happen! We are blessed with a warm house, vehicles with heaters that work and lots of warm clothing, comfy blankets and throws. Throw in a couple of four-legged heaters and we're all set for winter.
The Farmer decided he wants Italian Beef so we'll head out to get the rest of the ingredients. Good thing stores are close by!
I just think it helps to keep memories alive. I know it helps me. Sometimes the funniest stories come out!!
DeleteHow cool on the Avon school being in the parade. I haven't watched a parade in years.
Yep, we are blessed with so much - I just think about the homeless and those that still have no real shelter after all the storms. There are many yet.
Have a wonderful day with family and enjoy your Italian beef!
Donna, Who is Alana? I have one, too.
Delete@Linda, Alana is my oldest daughter. She is a professor at a college in Texas. She always disliked her name but I think at 52 she's resigned to it. 😁
DeleteMy daughter who is a teacher in Texas loves her name.
DeleteThe holidays are a bit bittersweet sometimes, remembering holidays from the past and people that are no longer with us. I do like you mentioned and try to remember how blessed I was to have them in my life and have memories to think about. It does help to adjust the outlook a little.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderfully Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for you!
You know Lori - it really does. Even if for just a short while, in the scheme of things, we had them at all - is a gift and a blessing. We got to share wonderful moments - those are my thankful moments.
DeleteThank you so much - you have a great one as well.
Do you have children you celebrate with or are they estranged. I wasn’t sure what you meant about celebrating those lost if that applies directly to you in that way.
ReplyDeleteNo birth children. I have lots and lots of nieces and nephews. I am a widow and have lost my parents and a sister and a brother. Yes it applies to me - I never want to forget all the people I love that are gone. I miss them all greatly, especially my husband.
DeleteHave a nice holiday.
Yes, Happy Thanksgiving, Cheryl! And all the posters here. :) Good space, good people. Thankful for this place.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate what you say about being thankful even for the people who are gone - because we got to have them in our lives at all is a blessing. Took me many years to figure that out. Still hurts that they're gone, but I'll live through it. ;) I'm grateful for what I had.

Thank you so much.
DeleteYes, it sure does still hurt. It hurts every day - but I am so grateful, that I got the opportunities to have those days with them. I understand - it took me a while too.
I miss Glen everyday - but gosh, I got 33 years with that man. Some never have an opportunity to be happy or know love.
Have a lovely day!!!
Happy Thanksgiving Cheryl! Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is my memory holiday, as it was my mom's birthday. She passed on Dec 16, 2003, nine days before her 75th birthday. My adult children and I always shared our memories of her and the Christmas's past.
Thank you.
DeleteThat makes it extra sad when they pass so close to a holiday. I love that you share your memories. How precious.
Have fun on your trip.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and Butch!!!! Love you guys!
DeleteWishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Every Christmas we hang a picture of our daughter in a wreath so she gets to share with us what was one of her favourite days.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you. Oh Jackie that is so lovely. I love that idea.
DeleteHugs.
Happy Thanksgiving to you! I hope you have a good time with family. I will have my traditional steak (I dislike turkey!), then visit with a friend in the evening. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we can be both sad and blessed. Life is mixed with emotions. It sure keeps us on our toes! I love that you have found your way here and for sharing with us all.
Happy Thanksgiving Cheryl! Telling stories is the best therapy! I love to relive all the funny stories about my dad. Those stories are so healing and laughter does a heart a whole lot of good. I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend.
ReplyDeleteAMEN! So true. The stories and the laughter are very healing. We all need our hearts and souls healed and refreshed.
DeleteThank you and you as well.
