Cleaning Trick

Just a quick post today.  I recently saw an idea on removing pet fur from furniture.  Coogy loves to lay on the arm of the love seat - so I have to remove fur all the time.
There is the vacuum when I have it out.  Then I have always used a damp dense sponge or a damp wash cloth.  I will rub the area in one direction - collect fur and then do another direction.

Well this new 'hack' to me works like a charm.  Use a pumice stone!!!!  Now mind you I would only do this on heavy duty materials - nothing thin or satiny.  I rubbed the arm of the love seat with the stone and LOTS of fur came up!  Let's say - way more than I could see!!!!!!

I always have several stones around as they comes in many gift baskets.  This one is the perfect size to work with.  They are not expensive and it sure does work - not only on feet but my couch!!!!!
I used it  dry.

It is amazing to me the things we can learn to make life easier - no matter what age we are.  I guess I always wonder who tried that the first time and why?  LOL

Here's a fun picture to end today.  I guess all nature gets tired and needs a quick nap now and then.
The squirrel must be so tired from playing and eating peanuts!!!  Blackie found a bit of shade to lay in until he gets lunch!  They don't mind or bother each other.  All my kitties leave the squirrels alone.
(As you can see they use the rails as scratching posts!!!)

Have a good day!

  1. What a great idea! I always have fur every where as my dog is a non stop shedder and well my Shim is grey and has his sleeping places. Love the picture.

  2. I'll have to try that hack. I have several brushes that remove some fur but they're definitely not perfect.

What a cute photo! I've never seen a squirrel sleep in the open like that. It obviously feels safe in your yard.

    1. I have used brushes too on the couch as well as the cats (the cats all love getting brushed!). This works so well.
They do that a lot - even on the ground - yep very comfy here!

  5. Pumice stones are good for lots of things. The picture of Blackie and the squirrel is precious. The squirrel is not a bit afraid of him.

  7. Never heard of this one. I have 3 dogs, two little that are allowed on the leather furniture, can vacuum easy and their nails don't scratch or puncture. They are not allowed on the fabric chairs and behave with rules(they are allowed on Mom's bed but not the guest beds. My big problem right now is a pup I took in after a dear family friend passed. He is a ,sweet 80lb black chow. I knew the dog from when he was purchased as a puppy. I puppy sat many times and he quite comfortable becoming part of my family. Oh my gosh the hair, you have to vacuum and sweep everyday. His next appointment at the groomer is due, he usually gets the lion cut in the summer but I am going to have them take everything this time. Funny things about your cats and squirrels, my sister has pet chickens and big dogs. Those dogs never even look at those chickens. I don't know how she does it!

    1. How sweet of you to 'adopt' the doggy. I am glad I have to have animals trimmed. I comb them - but no trimming.
Trust me - this little trick works! I was amazed.
I think when animals are raised together they just mind their manners!!!!

  8. I always love to see squirrels laying like that. Mama Squirrel used to all the time...up the first limb of the tree.

What I really love is the live and let live attitude of your cats towards the other critters. There is none of that here! Although a lot of times Bubbie is too lazy to move almost. But Puss more than makes up for him.
