Friends and Foes and Fun

Hold your friends close and hold your enemies closer.  NAH!  I am just going let the enemies go.
Does anyone else every feel that their life gets too peopley??????
Some days I am just over many people.

I am pretty easy going and laid back.  I never go out of my way to hurt someone or say something hateful.  I am honest and will voice my opinion (as is my right) - and then I get blasted!
NOW KNOW - I am NOT talking about this blog or any of you fine people.

People today are so very different.  I know many people blame it all on the past couple years.  Well, maybe some of it - but it started before that.  People are so self-centered, sanctimonious, entitled and just clueless!!!!
I know this ventures into a different subject, but what ever happened to freedom of speech?  LOL!  I am not wanting to start a conversation about government/politics at all - just the fact that people are just nasty and rude more and more today, and they want to control 'others' speech.
You voice your opinion or add to a conversation, and say something that in no way is trying to be hurtful and people complain.  I see this day after day on FB and in some of the groups I belong to.  Why is one persons views more important than another's?  Why do people think it is OK to bash people in a way, that they would never do in person?  Why can't adults just ACT like adults?

I had this happen to me recently.  I guess I must have 'offended' someone and then I was suspended for a while from the group.  REALLY?  No one will tell me why.  It is aggravating.
I have now gotten to the place that I know I did nothing wrong and God shows us where we should be and who we should be around.    I AM listening!!!!

What you see (or read) is me.  I am not phony at all.  Don't like me - don't care!!!!!!
I live to please only ONE and that is God.

You just never know what will flip someone's button today.  It can be something big or something teeny tiny!  I just think the world gets to peopley for me on somedays.  I am not going to be bitter or upset - I am praying for these  people.  Just give me my fur babies and nature!!!!!!!!
It seems to me that Satan has a grip on many people today - and they don't even realize it.  It is truly sad.

So never be shocked or alarmed when "friends" become foes.  It seems to be the sorry state of the world today.  You and I both know that we have much more important things on our plates to handle - than to be pestered by hurtful and ungracious people.

FOR THE FUN
I only watch a couple of You Tube channels now.  One I never miss, when she posts and the other I watch sporadically.  Both have a calm way about them and they are just entertaining.
The one I never miss is Coffee With Kate (Kate Signh).  She is just a neat person.  She talks of her financial journey, her family, garden, spirit and a bit of this and that.  She is real!  She has gone through a lot of changes with her channel over the years and I always stay tuned in.
I sometimes make a comment of her channel, when something hits me.  The other day she responded with "I was enjoying your blog the other day".     WOW - I geeked out!  I thought that was so cool.
She has over 10,000 followers and she is an author of many books - and she was reading us!!!!!   That just made my day.

So folks, people change and life changes.
Light your torch and hold it high and light the way to the world for "your" people to follow.
Sometimes we learn in a tough way - but eventually we learn who OUR people are.  Love them and hold them close.  Pray for the others.

We surely can't please everyone.  We have a right to our opinions.  We still have some semblance of free speech.  So, don't let people beat you up for your thoughts and beliefs.
Stand up for YOU!  Life is too short to let the negative in.  Tune in to the happy and the enjoyable,
Make life fun!  That is one thing we CAN control.

I love you all my friends - and I appreciate each and every one of you!!!!!

  2. It is a common misconception that free speech applies everywhere. Actually, it only applies to government suppression of the expression of thoughts and opinions.

Having dropped Fakebook, etc. years ago, I don't miss them at all. I don't CARE what others think of me, and I sure don't need their approval. This is about the only place I comment at all.

I don't burn bridges. I dynamite them. And salt the ashes.

    1. OK, now I am belly laughing!!!!! I keep in touch with family and some REAL friends - other than that I would be done with FB. I need no ones approval either. I love that you dynamite them and salt the ashes. That is great!!!!!!! Thank you for that!

  3. Facebook can be pretty shallow and you're certainly right about lack of tolerance out there. And the generalizations, if you aren't where THEY are politically then you're a waste of space.

I was looking for Kate's blog yesterday to check in with her and couldn't think of the exact name. Maybe she isn't blogging any more. I'll look for her on YouTube.

    1. Exactly - don't believe their way - then you are history. Shallow is an understatement!!!!!!

YES, she is back to Coffee with Kate name. She Got rid of You Tube for a while came back under another name and just recently went back to Coffee with Kate. She only posts once or maybe twice a week now - spending her time with family. She got rid of Internet at home and she posts when she is at the library. She did a post Monday. She got rid of her blog, FB, and all other forms except YouTube.

  4. We all love you too, Cheryl! You and I are kind of the same mind regarding the world (or our little corner of it) being too peopley. I sent my oldest daughter a picture off Instagram that had the sign "A large group of people is called a "No thanks"." She and I both tend to be introverted. There are some folks I would like to visit on Facebook but not worth the hassle. If people are going to be hateful and snarky, No Thanks! Miss Frances, you are my kind of woman. Dynamite! We watched some fellows on YouTube use dynamite to blow up a beaver's dam...boom! Problem solved. Have to check out Kate Singh. My favorite YouTuber is Rachel from Rachel Cooks with Love.

Need to get busy outside. Apparently it will rain tomorrow.

    1. Thank you! I am not much into crowds any longer. You never know who is next to you!
SNARKY - I have used that word a lot this week!!!
Kate is just down to earth and honest. She wonders a bit - but she is pretty endearing. I will check out Rachel - don't watch much about cooking any more. Probably should.

It looks icky out - but hoping the rain hold s off today!

    2. I am quite an introvert and have always been the "odd woman out". My kindergarten report card said "Does not play well with others." Pretty much sums up my entire life.
I liked reading Kate Singh's blog, but I don't do YouTube due to hearing issues. Glad she's back, though, after being treated so poorly by certain nasty individuals a couple of years ago.

  5. Cheryl, I'm grateful every day that I came across your blog. Am grateful for you and all the people here.

Last July, I decided FB was just adding stress to my life. It happened right around the time my sister (wife of a veteran) posted a picture of the American flag and FB tagged it as being potentially "offensive" to some. It's just my opinion, but social and news media seems to have been driving this modern day age of rage. It's why I'm now very, very careful what I expose myself to.

It's also why we moved to the place we have. And it's also why I start most of my days right here at your blog. Praying God blesses you today! --Elise

I think I must agree with you - that media has a lot to do with the indoctrination of the people. BUT their minds must be weak or hate filled to believe all the garbage. That is my opinion.
I hope you get the peace you need there. I am a real loner in life today - and that suits me fine.

  6. Correcting my typos---It seems the pandemic has been as excuse for people to forget their manners kind of like PMS when everyone I hung out with was younger. LOL Here in the deep south people will be sweet as sugar to your face when they are not thinking what they are saying and always beware of 'Bless your little heart' which means I think you are the biggest idiot in the world but I would never say it!

  7. This is one of the reasons I love your blog! You are so genuine and real! Not haughty or fake. I'm like you, it seems nowadays we aren't entitled to our own opinion unless it is a carbon copy of others opinions. And so often, that seem so far out to me. Love ya, girl...just the way you are!

    1. Thank you!!!! I have always gone to the beat of a different drummer - and really don't care what others think. I can't stand fake!
I stay away from topics that causes VERY different ideas/opinions - that keeps the peace. Too bad more don't realize that! You got me the way I am - not changing!

  8. I haven't commented in a long while, but am still reading your blog every morning, Cheryl, with my coffee and my kitty, Maggie, on my lap! God willing, I will turn 87 next month but continue learning new ways of doing things from you and the other wonderful women who comment here, too. But, most of all your down-home common sense!! Thanks to you and all your readers and Blessings to all. I was glad when you reappeared Frances! and now I'm missing Margie from Toronto! Hope she is well. Shirley Kelly near Seattle

    1. Shirley so happy you are here and congrats on your upcoming birthday. Sounds like you are living a good life and you have been blessed with many years. My sis turned 91 last month and my brother just turned 81 yesterday.
We have such a great group here - so many like minded people (at least it appears so).
I always miss folks when they don't show up for a while. I pray for all of group everyday.
Thank you for your kind words.

    2. Shirley, you make me blush! Thank you for the kind words. I seem to have intermittent problems posting with Blogger, probably because I have my privacy settings pretty tight. I miss Margie from Toronto, too, but If I recall correctly, she is working more hours and has little time for the internet. Hi Margie! (if you're lurking)
Good for you, Shirley, for braving the internet. My mother (84) and husband (90) are afraid of getting off into the dangerous weeds and messing up a computer.

    3. Bogger can be persnickety at times. I knew your husband was older than you - but didn't realize he was older than your mom as well.
I was thinking maybe Margie said she was taking a trip - but that may be someone else. I miss all of you when you are gone a while

I think we are supposed to give and teach and love one another. This group has given me more than I could possibly give. You all have held me up and comforted me through my most awful times. You have kept me going. I thank you all for that.

  11. Thank you for this. Life changes, people change. As groups become larger, their focus shifts and pettiness can creep in. I just don't have time for that or care to be part of it. Love that the people in this group are so supportive and offer encouragement and suggestions meant to help us all make the most of what we have. Blessings to you and your readers!

I never got into FB. I heard so much about their choices of what they consider offensive that I decided they offended me!! I never had an account.

As people have posted, it is shocking to see how many people act these days. I could get on a week long soapbox on it, but I'll spare y'all!! I'll say that I continue to be as polite and courteous as I can and I smile. But for the occasional stinker, most people that I come into direct contact with are the same. I see the craziness on the news, for the most part. However, there was an incident a couple of months ago where we were trapped in a parking lot by a car backing out in front of us and the guy behind us Fbombed us out the window because he felt we should have used the flying function in our car lolol. Hopefully he picked up some Preparation H in the store and felt better!

Hubs picked up eggs at Aldi yesterday. $2.99 per dozen!! They were 67¢ last year! Shocker!!

It is shocking to hear some stories. People are just so nasty. I do have to say I LOVE seeing the story our news does each week - on good and caring people! Wee need a news station like that!!!!!
Eggs will be high for a while with this bird flu thing going on. What a big increase. It is a good thing I don't eat that many for me!

  16. some people are listening to satan and they are following him and that is just the honest to god truth. Let's not be those people. Those are the kind of people I don't want any part of. And yup, sometimes it gets too people-y out there. For many of us. When it does, just stay home and enjoy your pets, nature and anything that makes you happy. You're not hurting anyone.

    1. I agree 100%. I don't know that some people even realize that Satan has a grip on them - they truly think they are right. I told a friend the other day that some places almost seem like cults today. It is very scary.

  17. I discovered your site recently and really enjoyed todays post. I retired a few years ago and my job required me to partake in social media. A year and a half ago I decided that I could survive better without Facebook in my life and deactivated my account. I had always been paranoid about posting anything on it anyway after reading the fine print. I didn’t want to give them ownership of my photos. I hated the fact that the stalked me with ads. I realize it is there business model so I decided they don’t need my business. Like many of you followers I am a pretty private person.
I so love the picture of burning bridges. And if we ride at dawn…I am in.
I attempted to sign in but blogger just wasn’t having it. I could sign in and read your site but the minute I attempted to comment it no longer recognized me. Since my profession was as a Quality Assurance Software Engineer and I was very good at finding bugs I apparently have not lost that ability. Nancy from Washington State

Glad you found your way here. I totally understand what you are saying about social media. Somedays I think of getting off FB all together - but like certain people.! I don't share a lot - so there is that. Shoot you can THINK of something and the next thing you know you are getting ads!!!! It is crazy.
I think we will have a lot of riders on our journey on that bridge!!!!!

  18. I was dismayed yesterday when I had to unfollow and stop reading a blog I have read for a couple of years now. I knew the blogger and I held different beliefs about issues, but all of a sudden the blogger made a very hot post yesterday telling anyone who read there that if they held different beliefs then they needed to go read other blogs. I really thought that was a little much, so I unfollowed.

But yes, I've made a conscious decision recently to cut out a lot of my social media and just read more books and I am happier for it.

    1. WOW - that is pretty darn bold and small minded of the blogger. I try to keep away from those target buttons as much as possible. What I believe is what I believe. What you believe is what you believe. We can still get along and share ideas. That is crazy.
I think you may have the right idea - get your journeys and pleasures from books!
