Weekly Wrap-Up 4/30

Happy Sunday to all!  Last day of the month of April - my time flies.  Tomorrow is another new beginning!  Another chance to start again, get things right, and just enjoy.  Please DO enjoy - life is short and it is all so important.
Hope you are all well - missing some of our regulars!  Check in please.

We were all over again with the weather this week.  It has been chilly for much of it - but we did have some nice days too.  We had warm, rain, wind, more rain, frost, chilly days .........  Looks to be a chilly and damp beginning to May here.  One of these days it will warm up and then we will all be complaining about heat!!!!!

I told you all that I was going out to lunch this past week with old friends.  Well, these were gals I started first grade with 62 years ago!!!!!!!!  Even had a teacher show up!  She had to be close to 90 (or over) but was still sharp as a tack and driving.  What a fun day talking about old crushes and crazy things that we did back then.  Oh, it compares NOT ONE BIT to things kids do today - just simple fun. (Like climbing in the hollow tree and lying down on the merry-go-round, melting crayons on the radiators).  LOL

My week:
  • Feed store - got some squirrel corn.  I also got some tomato plants while there.  I have been taking them in and out till time to plant.  I grow so few - just figured I would buy.  I got 8 regular plants and 4 grape tomatoes.
  • Stopped at super Kroger by feed store.  Got a gift for my gr.gr. niece's birthday party today (she's 2).  Bought fruit and veggies.  I also got a deal on sausage and ham slices.  Found apples, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, baby carrots and broccoli in the .99 bin!!!!!!  WOOHOO
.75 lb. sausage!!!!  Deli-like ham for 2.15 pack.  Plus I now have 2 new storage containers I can use.
  • Lunch out - rejuvenated my soul!
  • Mowed, trimmed, pulled, and yanked
  • Worked in the garage a little - cleaning and organizing
  • Drew up some simple plans to take to my nieces today - for a quote to have front (ramp area) redone and landscaped.  I decided I will pay my families' business to do it - this old gal just doesn't want to!!!
  • Paid everything I had - including property taxes for the year on both house and property I have.  Also paid for 50th school reunion reservation for this fall.
  • Filled my gas tank while out - got a .60/gal. discount using last month's points.
  • Talked with several neighbors this week and got to talk to out of town family
  • Refilled all soap containers with mix - cleaned the bottles and there was enough soap on the shampoo bottle top itself for one wash and had enough residue on dish soap for a sink of dishes!  Waste not!
  • Just doing all the normal stuff
Meals this week:
Long grain/wild rice, meatballs/gravy and salad
Veggie soup (freezer) - added leftover rice
Goulash
Leftover goulash and a salad
Out to eat - Mexican
Poor man Swiss steak and mashed potatoes
Big salad and ham sandwich
SNACKS - fruit

So how was your week?  I sure hope you found a deal or two and had some good things happen.
I love how you all feel safe sharing your lives here.  This is such a kind group of folks and so caring.  I love how each one reaches out and offers advice, love and prayer for others.  I am thankful to have found you all - or that you found me!
Give us a shout out and let us know what is happening in your area and home.

Prayers you all have a wonderful week - safe and healthy.
Blessings from my humble little home to you and yours.

Psalms 28:7

Lord, I give my worries to you.  I know you will keep us in Your loving and protective hands, and that Your will be done.  We often forget Your will - may not be ours.  Help us to make the most of each day and help us each prepare for eternity with You.  Asking for peace and safety for all.  Amen

  1. It's been a week! I had a fence line brushed 2 winters ago so there's lots of firewood to be had. My cousins & I are bucking up the felled trees. Next, we'll split & stack it for the winter. When you cut your own wood, it warms you up twice! We go out for a few hours in the morning before it gets too warm. Yes, warmth has arrived with temps ~ 20C. I've said the same as you - soon we'll be complaining about the hear. I missed the pussy willows. Trees are budding out already. I spent yesterday tending to my 90 yr old mom. She had a UTI so needed to go to the dr (50 min wait), fill the Rx (1 hr wait). As much as I appreciate the medical system, I get annoyed with it. It's not that easy to schlep mom around these days only to get to the dr who hardly examines her, just relies on the attending nurses' info. I am so grateful to the Home Care staff who tend to mom at the supportive living lodge where she lives. Interesting thing happened earlier this week - a bird made its way down the chimney into the wood stove while I was away overnight. I had place a decorative screen in front of the stove so hadn't latched the door. Well, the bird made its way out into the house. There wasn't as big a mess as I anticipated. I'm sure the bird thought, "Now this is a birdhouse!" Meals this week - tika masala chicken w/ kale, green beans over rice; bbq steak with veg; chicken chili. Pulled out an old recipe & made sausage with 4lbs of hamburger.
    3 T curing salt
    2 tsp liquid garlic
    3 T mustard seed
    3 T liquid smoke.

    2. Mona I hope your mom is feeling better. I can't imagine all the waiting, especially with someone elderly. Thay shouldn't have to wait!
Now that is a lot of work! Dang gal, I sure wouldn't want to do all that. Oh my - I bet that birdie thought it hit the jackpot!!! LOL
      Thanks for the recipe.
      Have a great week.

    3. EM & Cheryl, thought I should add directions to that recipe for sausage.
Dissolve the above ingredients in 1/2 cup water. Mix thoroughly with ground beef. Divide into 2 rolls. Wrap in tin foil. Refrigerate x 48 hrs. Remove from foil & place on a rack in a baking pan. Bake x 3-3.5 hrs at 250F.

  2. Excellent devotional! Always give thanks to Him who created us! We all need a reminder that His will be done.

The weather was crazy this week. Looks like another night in the 30's is coming up. We were glad to get the rain and will have more later on, if the forecast is correct. Happy that you had a good week. Amazing that your teacher showed up.

Potatoes are in the ground and everything that has been planted so far is growing. The head lettuce is growing nicely. If the chickens were out, they would have a big time and we would have nothing left. Ha! Strawberries are all blooming and also the blueberries. The raspberries are sending out runners like crazy. We hope to direct the runners another direction. Think that can be accomplished once they root well and we can dig them up.

No real bargains this week but we got the best grapes at Costco. They are from Chile, very large, sweet-tart and crisp. I am not a fan of grapes but these are fabulous. I will quarter them to put into an apple salad. The Farmer and I made potato soup Friday afternoon for our Sabbath meal. It has lots of onion, peppers, peas and of course, lots of potatoes. I cut up fresh green onions to sprinkle on top along with some sharp cheddar cheese grated.

      Glad you have things growing!
Mmmm the grapes sound yummy. I love grapes of all kinds. Now I am hungry for potato soup! Sounds good.
      Have a good week.

  3. Happy Sunday Cheryl. Your lunch sounds like it was amazing. How nice to see people you've known for so long. I love that your teacher was there. It reminded me that my first-grade teacher was also my grandfather's first grade teacher. She started her career with him in her first class and me in her last. I always thought that was pretty cool.

  4. Your lunch with friends sounds wonderful. Lots of laughter and great memories.
Our weather is on its way up, thankfully, and I can feel my mood improving every day. It has been such a long winter it seems. Yet, FB memories tell me we had a lot more snow still on the ground just a few years ago. So perhaps it is my memory that is faulty.

  5. Wow Cheryl, that sounds a very busy week. You sure pack a lot into seven days. It's lovely that your teacher made it to your lunch.
This week I managed to get three pantry/storage areas condensed into one. I had a big cull, took the excess to the local food bank, and then organised the rest into a single area. I feel so much better.
I probably have about two weeks of meals to come out of my second freezer, then it will be cleaned and sold. Two down, two to go.
Very few bargains to be found this week, even the markdowns seemed pricey. My local supermarket has stopped its clearance section and now leaves them on the shelves through the store, so no quick hits anymore.
One interesting thing that happened as I was walking into the food bank, a gentleman was walking out with a big box and a very surly look on his face. Seems the place wouldn't take his donations as a few were out of date and they didn't/ couldn't/ wouldn't accept them. It was my belief that as long as you clearly signed that products were out of their "best before " date you could sell/give them away. Does anyone else have any idea about this?
    Have a great week. Louise

    1. Louise, I'm not sure about your area, but years ago Feeding America took control of most food banks in the country and imposed new rules. "Best before" dates were a part of that. Also, stores could no longer take excess food to the food banks on distribution day, but had to instead deliver them to warehouses overseen by F.A., who then culled before loading their own trucks for redistributions. Local farmers who once donated leftover produce from Farmer's Markets directly to food banks also had to deliver to the warehouses instead. What it means is packaged goods past "best buy" dates go to waste, and fresh foods often spoil before being distributed. Another words, far more waste now than before.

    2. Well it sounds like you were productive and busy. Glad you got so many things consolidated.
That would be aggravating with so many people needing food. I know in places here - they can give away after the 'best by' - they just need to mention it. Much clearance at stores here is after 'best by' date some others are very extended dates - just depends.
It should be up to the person visiting the food bank - not the staff.
There is just way too much waste in this world - it needs to stop and people need to use their brains. My goodness, I remember when there were NO dates on food at all.
      Have a great week.

    3. I absolutely agree with you both, too much waste, too many rules made by people who don't have to worry about feeding their children.
I didn't think to ask how far out of date, but it all looked to be cans, so...... anyway, this fellow was not happy at all. That is disappointing as well, because next time he probably won't make the effort to donate. Louise.

    4. Hopefully God will heal his heart and he will help in some other way. Such a shame.

    5. And can I also add that I was in no way disparaging the workers at the food bank, who are all volunteers. They have rules they have to abide by, it’s the rules that just seem plain stupid at times.

  6. Good morning! It's a sunny Sunday here. Nice for the last Sunday of the month. You all know it was a "mixed bag" week for me with news of my older brother's passing and BIL buying a home of his own. The timing was more than coincidence, I think. BIL's house will be a 4 BR, 3BA, 2000+ sq. ft. home on 2.5 acres surrounded by National Forest. It truly is the "unicorn" he'd wanted and will wipe out his funds, which has him motivated to find a job now.

Meals were (as always) simple: roast chicken + rice + veg. for a few meals, dinner out (early bird pricing) at a local steakhouse to celebrate BIL's home purchase, leftovers from all of that, meatloaf + leftover rice + veggies, and last night our son brought over a big crockpot of pulled pork he'd made, which we'll have again today. No grocery shopping beyond milk and bread. BIL did pick up a few things. We'll get the sale priced produce tomorrow or Tuesday while the sale prices are still good.

My BEST day was Thursday. Hubs and I went to Quality Home Center to pay for the extended 10 yr. warranty on our house, then went to the nearby charity thrift store with donations (my rule is when something comes in, something goes out). I often donate really good stuff and was thrilled to see they've made a boutique section for those kids of things. While browsing the whole store, I found a large, framed oil painting of a barn scene for $25. I collect those cast-offs. Mine! It's now hanging between the kitchen and family room windows and brightens up our dining area. The shop also had a table full of donated Little Caesar's pepperoni pizzas and cheesy bread for shoppers to take. Free. I got 2 pizzas and 1 cheesy bread and invited our son over for dinner. On the way out of the shop, a 2 yr. old girl (real cutie) ran over to me and wrapped her arms around my legs for a hug. It was so sweet. Her mom and grandma were embarrassed, but I feel God prompted the child to hug a white haired woman who needed a hug.

LOVE the verse and prayer, Cheryl. As usual. When we pray the Lord's prayer, there are the words, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." God's will might not line up with our own will, but it always works out for our best. --Elise

God's timing was/is amazing. After our talk last weekend, changes were almost immediate (thanks again to all for advice). He was here and out of bed when I got the call about my brother. Since then, we've had time to talk, him and me, about various lessons I've learned in life. The hard way. And he's listening. Praise God! --Elise

  7. Good morning Cheryl and all, April sure did seem to go by fast. We have had a few days this past week where we had unseasonably warm weather, 80's and 90's but this week we will get a little rain and some milder temps. Hard to work in the yard when it's so hot.
Yesterday we were given 2 blueberry bushes from our neighbors, she is doing some cleaning up of her yard.
Last week we had the tree trimmers here and they did a wonderful job of giving our trees a haircut. Some of the trees are so tall you need a ladder to trim them and Hubby isn't allowed on a "ladder' anymore. He took a spill a few years ago.
Meals were from home all week. Tomorrow is our Anniversary so maybe we'll go out.
It's cool enough today to work out in my herb garden I have several things to plant.

  9. Me too, Elise! Sounds like some up and downs for our group. I hope you don't mind if I think of myself as a part of the group. We used to cut wood (hard work) and have also had a bird fly down the chimney and into the wood stove. I am envious of Donnas berries. Have tried repeatedly to grow them, but in Arizona they just don't thrive.
I bought sea shells from the craft area at Goodwill, shiny stones at Dollar Tree and some crystal looking beads at Joanns. Hubs and I buried them in old boxes along with some pocket change. The chickadees had a great time digging for treasures. I'm planning to teach them to sew over the summer. Any suggestions for beginner children's projects would be appreciated. No deals at the grocery here. My deals were at the thrift stores. Found a bundle of decent fabric for $1. Should be good for our summer sewing .

You could also do little towels or maybe a pillowcase or table cover. I loved making doll clothes and blankets too!

    2. LOVE the "treasure chest" idea, Ellie, and of course you're part of the group here. I special member (to me) having met you and your sweet hubby. Cheryl's apron idea is a good one. You could also make reusable tote bags simply and easily from just about any fabric. I'm so glad you get so much quality time with the Chickadees. They grow up (too) fast. Prayers for your whole family. --Elise

  10. We keep having cold spells and rain! I can't risk planting my tomato plant or my little flowers into their pots which would be too heavy for me to bring in on the cold nights. But yesterday was sunny and warm enough to work outdoors much of the day. Now I kinda ache all over from unusual exercise! ;)

Glad I still have some soup for the next few chill evenings. At this rate I'll be able to make another pot later in the week. That would be helpful as my freezer is full up with the ham stock I made on a chilly day last week.

I'm not sure that "best by" date has been helpful to us. I do see it, do notice it, and try to use up stuff before that, but I've eaten plenty of canned goods that were *way* out of date! Maybe that Feeding America is another way to bleed money out of donations?

I'm trying really hard these days to incorporate "thank you God" into my thoughts during the day, not just at prayer time. Trying to make it my *first* thought, my automatic reaction.

    2. I'm trying to have "thank you, God" as my automatic reaction, too, MaryB. Started working on having an attitude of gratitude every day years ago. Some days it's easier than others, but there's always a reason to be thankful. It will be 80 degrees here today; nights are still near freezing, but I can start making plans to plant. Finally! This morning I saw a volunteer wild rose near the base of an overgrown juniper tree, so I'll have one rose after all. :-)

  11. The reasoning is, if someone gets sick eating food past the best buy date, they could sue the organization. And You KNOW there is some jerk out there who would . Probably has.
I've known of cases where some sensible person takes that barely past due "best by" dated food, rescues it from going in the trash and distributes it to needy families. They called it, don't ask, don't tell food. Don't ask where it came from, don't tell who gave it to you.

Utterly ridiculous how much food is wasted.

  12. Hi Cheryl,
Happy end of April and beginning of May. May is my favorite month, probably because it is my birthday month ;). I keep looking for a post from Kim, I am about to ask Sluggy or Anne for an update. I sold my house a few weeks ago, the closing is May 18th. Bought a condo one town away and it will close right after that. So the past few weeks, and especially this past week, has been packing and arranging movers, estate sale folks etc. crazy busy. I am really enjoying downsizing. After 31 years in this house, I am feeling relieved to be getting rid of so much. My nature has always been to limit what I own, my beloved was the opposite he kept everything;). I was looking at the garage today and visualized it empty. Right after he passed, I didn’t like getting rid of his stuff because I felt like I was erasing him from this world. That feeling has passed and as I looked at the garage this morning, the items there were irrelevant, he is in my heart. I am happy to have that realization. Thank you again for your blog and your kindness, Hilogene in Az

  13. I never pay attention to the dates, I look at the can/box and make an educated decision...I feel people have been scared and bullied into fearing those dates.
I am a "retired" dumpster diver... I started out diving for scraps to treat my chickens but found so much stuff that was just too good not to be used by humans...we used to call it our meals on wheels LOL.
Finally the stores I dived started giving it to the local food pantry, I was up front and honest when I donated dived food, never had a problem. And I told the food pantry, call the store and tell them you will pick it up and keep it out of the dumpster in the first place...it worked! The waste is terrible and so unnecessary.

Our weather has been a lot like yours Cheryl, I am about 70 mile north of you and run a few degrees cooler most days.
I was finally able to mow and have potted up some things...my 8-10 year old angel wing begonias...could be their last year because they are looking rough, I may be able to take cuttings later this year and overwinter them from the mother plants.
All laundry hung out to dry, still lighting my woodstove some mornings.
This morning I have made 2 seedless black raspberry pies from juice frozen last summer. Baked one, froze one for another time. Hope I can find black raspberries to pick this year, too many people are using weed killer and ruining the patches. Sad for humans and the wildlife.
    Your devotion is a blessing.

    1. I agree so much waste. Years ago, hubs had an agreement with one of the groceries by where he worked (his buddy was manager) - when bread, cakes, cookies any bakery went out - they called the guys from the street dept. first - We did not buy bread or bakery goods for at least 5-6 years after we married. Then orders came in to stop that. It sure helped a lot of people.
I see nothing wrong with eating something that is good. Stores are so concerned about liability - because everyone wants to sue today. There is always someone who ruins a good thing.
Hope you can save the begonias. Oh, my mouth is drooling. Black raspberry pie is my favorite!!!!!! I so love black raspberries.
Yes, people messing things up for wildlife as well.
Thank you. Have a wonderful week. Stay dry and warm!

  14. Hiya Cheryl, can’t believe it’s almost May. It’s been a busy week here. I had two funerals. My son’s mother in law and my school friend’s husband. Of course it was Joe’s anniversary on Friday but had a memory service for him on Thursday. In the middle of all that my grand daughter had confirmation and then a meal out. That was a celebration.
I am about to get a new bathroom. I’ve been looking and looking. I have now decided no bath but a walk in shower.
I had supper out this evening with my daughter and son in law.
Tomorrow is May Day and some services are closed…..like banks so we call them Bank Holidays. I can’t remember what you call them in US
My friend of 20yrs lives in Minnesota but I miss her a lot because she now has dementia. It happened at the same time as Joe passed.
She loved talking to people and it was speech that went first with her.
    Chatting too much tonight. Sylvia

Yay, on the bath. That will be nice.
May day is not considered a holiday here. Banks and places of business open.
Dementia is a thief for sure. It is so hard on everyone around that person. I have always wondered if they know and just can't speak it or if the don't know. I don't want to find out. Sounds like my eldest brother - when he had his stroke - he never could talk after that. He never met a stranger and he never shut up before that. I felt so bad for him.
Hugs and have a lovely week.

  15. Having monsoon season here in PA. Lots of rain and cold temps for at least a week. Strawberries are loaded with blossoms. Peas, green onions and spinach are doing well. The cukes in the house are trying to climb but have at least 3 weeks before planting outside. Zukes and flowers sprouted indoors. All waiting for some decent weather.
I took advantage of the lousy weather to do some sewing this week and made a pair of pants. I started with New Look 6292, made a muslin, and took 3in. out of the thighs even though they are slim leg pants to start with. I then cut a new pattern for future use from some lightweight kraft paper I'd had for years. Made the pants from dark navy blue (I though it was black when I bought it) stretch twill from Hobby Lobby. Have enough left over to make a skirt in the future. The muslin was made from some quilting cotton someone had left at the mailboxes, so it was free to begin with. When I was through using the muslin, I cut it down for quilt squares, so it did double-duty. I hadn't sewn clothing in at least 8 years, and what I had made then didn't really fit. I haven't fussed so much over alterations to a pattern since I made my wedding dress! I also ordered a camp shirt style blouse pattern from Ebay. I have some pretty blue and yellow quilting cotton (that I bought 20 years ago and never used) that should make a nice blouse.
Mini rant: When did clothes get to be so ugly?! I look at the latest sewing patterns and can't find a thing appropriate for women my age! The clothes in the thrift stores are just as bad and poorly made. I don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb and don't care to display my body like a streetwalker. So I end up buying 20 year old patterns off of Ebay. It's either that our staying with my oversized men's t-shirts and leggings baglady look. End of rant!

    2. Sounds like all the plants are doing wonderfully. That is great. We are getting cold rain and wind today and even more tomorrow and even colder! ICK.
Thank you!!!! I have been saying that for ages - they don't make clothes for real women any longer. They are young looking ugly stuff - too light, to low cut, too holey, you name it. I for the life of me cannot understand why anyone pays big dollars for totally ripped up jeans!!!!!!!
Was just talking the other day with one of my school friends, and she mentioned that she remembered my mom making patterns from newspaper!!!! She did and I have too. You go girl.
I love that you are getting back to making yourself something. You have been so selfless with all the craft things you do for others. T-shirts and jeans here girl!
      Have a fantastic week!

    3. Curvy Sewing Collective has some tutorials and pattern suggestions. One tutorial I liked was FITTING MY AGING AND MATURE BODY. Because, well the sand has shifted so to speak. Maybe you can find some pattern suggestions there.

  16. Your gal pal get together sounds fun! I love those times!

Got to see one of our son's family's today. They drove in from out of state for a funeral of an old college friend. Sad story of cancer and now a Dad left with two teen girls and one is severely autistic. Please pray for Gabe. So glad to see them and wow those teens can eat even more than when we saw them at Christmas! Glad we made a ton of food!

  17. Nice deals from the grocery store. I did my monthly shop last week and did the best I could but there were no markdowns while I was there. The shelves are well stocked and no shortages at all like some folks mention in other blogs. Eggs were on sale for $3. dozen and butter was $5. #. Butter is usually $7. and up here. I would never pay that. I think I'd eat lard first! HA!
We are finally able to get to spring yard work; what a pleasure. Cleaned up the raspberry patch and dug carrots that I plant in July for spring harvest. Luckily the voles didn't find them this year and we have about 3#. So sweet compared to store bought. Herb garden is looking good and no need to replace anything this year. Even parsley overwintered well.
Ice is shrinking away from the shoreline and the ducks are there, courting and fishing. Happy days.

    1. Thanks - it is hot or miss sometimes. I just happen to hit a good day! I don't see much in the way of shortages either. Sure some prices are up - but we do what we can do. Heck for $7 for butter - I would buy some cream and make my own.
Glad you have been able to get out and work a bit. It sure makes you feel good to do that. How nice that everything loved and over wintered well.
Aaahhhh spring is in the air!!!!!!
      Have a great week.

I'm gonna do this in pieces cuz the last time I spent time on a long one, it never showed up. Annoying!!

I've been mind busy. My dear friend had her son get very sick, lots of ER trips only to be told that he doesn't fit criteria for hospitalization. Desperate, she went to a different ER. Not only was he hospitalized, he spent a whopping 11 days there, the first 5 in ICU. I was so worried about them, I wasn't sleeping at night , I didn't feel great, and I cleaned. When I exhausted myself, I napped. He finally went home today and I feel completely relieved. I worked a fundraiser at church all day today and now I'm exhausted! There were lunch leftovers (I didn't eat all day) so we ended up with several meals worth. Hubs worked another church thing and also came home with food. We are SET for a few days lol!!!

So glad he got in and got treated. Wonderful that he is home and with his family!!!!!!!!
You poor thing - things like that have a way of just working us up with worry. At least you napped. Now eat!!!!!!!
Go eat some of that free food you both brought home!!!!! Nice of both of you to help out.
Take care and get some rest.
      Have a blessed week.

I hope May brings some fun and rest with it! I need a break! On the bright side, I've done some good drawer organizing. The weather has been mild so the heat and air are off and that's great to save some dough. With the weather so dry, we had the lawns aerated to allow the ground to soak up more water. We have had a little rain and I'm sure most of the state is praying for it! We have LOTS of stuff on the yard work list. Oh, and my clematis trellis is packed full of beautiful blooms!
Speaking of beautiful blooms, YouTube the California poppy preserve this year. Nothing short of spectacular!!

    Reading:
On my nightstand - Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn
In my craft room CD - just finished a Jesse Stone...The Hangman's Sonnet, by whomever is writing for Parker.
With my Bible study - I'm in an Easter study.
By my reading chair - a mystery about race car driving in Europe. Helpful, huh?!

Also, I was completely tickled about the women's clothing discussion and Ellie's comment about "shifting sands".
I'm always saying that mature women do not want youthful clothing in *ahem* larger sizes. They want pretty clothing in classic designs. And polyester? Hello??? Anyone hear of hot flashes?? If it's not cotton, I'm not wearing it.

    Enjoy your Monday MayDay!

    1. Well I hope you get some rain. Glad the temps are decent. WOW, clematis blooming already! Mine are just staring to grow. I have a lot of buds on my poppies.
The thing is, most young people don't even look good in the fashions today!!!! Yes, women want nice classic designs.
      Happy May day!

  20. Oh it's a BEAUTIFUL day here, around 75 degrees...high of 80 today. So great. Thanking God for the beauty of His Handiwork.

We've had a very nice day and we listened to this very good sermon that I recommend for anyone who is interested: https://pastorallenjackson.subspla.sh/2y8d2bc

Leftovers for supper from the Greek restaurant we went to. We even ate outside....So fun, when we got home, our daughter had come home from church she attends with one of her friends and we had a nice chat, all of us.

My mom is doing good, she was cheerfully telling me yesterday and telling me what a beautiful job the plumber did on her commode but she tells me she has a problem still. What I ask? A ring. The commode has a ring. I've been scrubbing it with a brillo pad. (I'm ordering her lime away!) She also informed us last week when our married daughters were here when we were showing her how to take her bp...She tells us laughing that she does not want us thinking she is a bobba! For those who don't know, 'bobba' is a word for a dodie in Italian. We just all had to laugh with her!

    Have a great evening. Blessings!

Glad you got to have a nice visit.

  24. Just checking in and would like an update on the cataract operation you had a few months ago. Are you still happy with the results?? I am so grateful with my results and after 20 years the check out in my eye exam each year as still 100% good. I am hoping all is still great with you also. It is really wonderful to not see the several moons but to see the leaves on the trees several blocks away. Just me still happy with my painless and such a quick operation of long ago.

    1. Howdy Dru - Yes, I am still very happy. Love being able to see distances without glasses if I choose. Not a single problem.
You are so right - nice to know there really is only one moon!!!! LOL. The colors are vibrant and I still see all the dust!!
First time in my life I have been able to drive without glasses. It truly does seem like a miracle.
Thanks for asking. Have a good one!!!!~
