Wordy Wednesday

Happy mid-week to all.  I hope you are all good and safe.
Today I am going to do things a little different.  I am just in a mood - and not a lot to say.  I had a great day yesterday, until I came home and witnessed a neighbor's actions.  I am just disgusted and angry, and I have spent most of my time since - praying for him.  Praying that his heart can be softened, and he can have regard for all God's gifts on this earth.  He sure needs prayer.

So today - we will call it wordy Wednesday!!!!!

ASK any questions you have.
TELL us what is on your mind.
DISCUSS whatever is troubling you.
SEEK advice.
LET IT OUT

I kind of look forward to seeing what you all have on your minds.
Wishing you all a pleasant day my friends.

  3. Prayers for the new neighbor that has the cops constantly at his house for shooting his guns towards other neighbors property. He almost shot the Amish kids that was in the woods collecting maple sap. He is in court today over it. Told Cops that they didn't tell him they would be in the woods. Cops asked why they should tell him when they OWN the woods. NO ANSWER . E said they don't like calling law on people but there is a strong line when it endangers people.

    1. Yikes! Lets hope and pray ALL stay safe in your area. At the end of our long road, well past any housing, there's a turn off into a hollow where there's a shooting range. If people are going to practice, it really has to be in a safe place! --Elise

    2. Good grief!!!!! That could have been horrible. Exactly if they own the woods they don't have to tell him squat. Prayers that there is some sufficient punishment - not just a smack on the wrist.

  4. First of all, Cheryl, prayers for you (and all) today. Like Elle, I'm 61 and grateful for every sunrise, which I've been able to sit outside and enjoy again each morning. We went from snow to hot in just a few weeks, so the a.c. has already been necessary in the last few days.

    Random thoughts:
BIL is here now. Prayers appreciated. Hoping for God's grace and His blessings as we figure out the "co-habitating peacefully" end of things. Blue isn't especially fond of him; she keeps her distance. Hubs and I have decided we're going to have to carve time for ourselves, which will probably mean date days or nights again.

Wall Street Journal sent a postal letter that--thank goodness--I received in time! All of a sudden they're more than doubling their subscription prices. Bye, bye WSJ. I'll have to try to find a free and reliable source for economic news, which I follow. I'm getting weary of never ending inflation for everything.

We'll be getting estimates for having a proper grading job done on the front 1/2 acre, provided it can even be done. It's going to have to be evened out whether we do grass or rock. The GOOD news is we have a sizable tax refund coming. I'll also be making an appointment to (finally) set up the foot surgery. Not yet old enough for Medicare, our insurance plan (that costs $1300 per month) is an 80/20 split with a $2k deductible. It won't be cheap. Hopefully, though, it will be successful.

And finally, this might resonate with everyone here. I'm so grateful for the diligence and wisdom of you all: "Lazy people don't even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find." Prov. 12:27

    Thanks for being here. --Elise

    1. That's distressing about the WSJ. Good paper. I'm considering dropping my local weekly paper, much of what's in there is not even about my area, it's part of a national chain (USA today). And the opinion pieces are very much *not* my opinion, if you know what I mean.

Best wishes for the new living situation - always a challenge.

    2. Prayers for your household in this new situation. Um, Blue's feelings would tell me a lot! Animals are pretty perceptive!!
My daily local paper kept creeping up. I halved the subscription - which saved money - but I am going to ditch it all together. Nothing in it I care to see. I will watch local news and that is it.
      Hope the grading gets done.
I bet the foot surgery will help you a lot.
      Thank you!!!!

  5. My issue today is the darned water heater. This will be the third call out in as many months for a pilot light that won't remain lit. Thankfully, it's a rental so I don't have to pay for the service, but I'm going to do some price shopping to find another company to rent from. The original company was fine, but was sold to a large conglomerate several years ago. Service standards have gone done significantly. I'm also annoyed that it happened today, as I can only have an appointment when I would normally be at my stitch and chat group. The window is 1-5 p.m....I wish they could pin it down better than that!
On the other hand, I spotted a robin in the back yard this morning. The snow has melted, a lot, in the past couple of days, so I think I can safely say that spring has arrived. It might be false spring but any winter weather won't last long.
    Take care.

    1. Bummer. Hope it gets fixed soon. I have never heard of renting a water heater - that is interesting. YES mam, service has gone to heck in a hand basket in most areas!!!!!!
YAY, a robin!!! It is a good sign for sure. Hope it continues to stay warmer there.

  6. Hi Cheryl, well today is action packed for me. I guess my word would be happy. I have three showings of my house (it is for sale). Fingers crossed someone wants it! Have had 11 showings in the past two weeks, only one offer. I close on my new place the end of May and don’t want to have two houses at the same time…yikes! Also, I have a handyman here today to fix the list of odds and ends that need repair, I will be so happy when that is done! I debated whether my word would be optimistic or happy, I went full in on happy ;). Hilogene in Az

Sorry about that, Cheryl. Thanks for not giving details. I feel like I have enough ugly pictures in my mind and I surely don't want more. That's why I no longer read Google or scroll news on YouTube. While a nice story occasionally pops up, most just makes my blood boil!!

My friend loved her box of sunshine so that was nice.😁

I painted my toes last night and they're so pretty! They're Poppy Orange!

Hubs stopped by Sam's yesterday and found romaine! I was excited. I hope they won't recall it .

Poppy orange toes!! WOOHOO! It is that time of year again, that people see our toes! Thanks for that reminder!
Hope your Romaine is to stay. Plenty around here.

  8. Sorry to hear that you have a crappy neighbor. I think old men particularly, lose their marbles. Think Dalai Llama. Since I wouldn't be praying, I would have a plan in place in case I had a confrontation with said neighbor. Once you know how you would deal with him, you can forget about it all and get on with your day. Don't forget to breathe...nice full breath in; slow and steady out. Repeat.

    1. Yes, breathe!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I know him well, and my first impressions from years ago are actually rearing their ugly heads. I gave chances and learned to accept and kind of like the person. Yeah, I think am done. I just can't tolerate some things!
I am good and safe! Thank you!

  10. Ah Nancy, so sorry for all the problems this year. Prayers for you and your family.
Sounds like hubs has taken good care of you! I sure hope kitty comes back - maybe just taking a vacation. You can never tell with cats.
Hoping all goes well for your daughter. That had to be scary. I have heard of false numbers on PSA tests - let's hope it was just a fluke and all is good.
One day at a time with a grateful heart is all we can do sometimes. Prayers dear.

  11. Not knowing all the details of your neighbor situation, I'd tend to err on the safe side, and maybe put a bug in the police's ear, via the non-emergency number or a personal visit just to discuss the situaiton. Neighbors aren't always neighborly like they used to be. I'm dealing with a banking situation and filed a fraud claim yesterday. It literally took up the entire day. I will offer one piece of advice to everyone - if you pay any bills via hard-copy check, verify receipt of the payment not only on your monthly checking statement, but also on the next month's statement. And, if it's not shown and it should (especially if the check has cleared), call and verify that it's been posted. This situation was uncovered in reviewing payment amounts and invoicing as a medical procedure is coming up and I was trying to get a read on how much it would cost. After going thru the payments they've received, I asked about a check that was written on 3/20 and cleared the bank on 3/28, no record of receipt. They went back and double checked (they scan checks and keep for 90 days, in case one gets incorrectly posted), no payment. Sent them a copy of the front and back of the check, and it was deposited into a bank where they have no account, and it was not endorsed, marked for deposit only. So now we wait to find out next steps, and continue to monitor all accounts. For now, I continue to relish the beauty that every day brings, savoring the warm temperatures and sunny weather, for we now it may not last.

    1. It has crossed my mind - we will see how things go. Yep, sometimes I don't like people a lot.

Dang, that is a mess. I do that check thing and always check both the bank statement and the next bill. Usually the next invoice gets here before the bank statement. What a mess.
Not that it would have done any good probably in this situation - since it was a deposit only, but use gel ink pens on checks. It can not be cleaned off and the names or numbers changed. No forging is easy with gel!
I sure hope it all works out good.
The weather is lovely here today as well.

  15. Well today I had a doctor's appointment with a new doctor. I needed an appointment asap for an issue and my doctor was not available. They asked if I'd see the new guy. I said sure. Apparently they have not been able to get others to take an appointment with him. He was very kind, informative and caring. He spent 90 minutes with me! When was the last time a doctor ever spent that much time with you? To be honest, I really liked him but had not scheduled that much time in my day for the appointment so by the time I was finished, I was getting antsy. That's where the good news ended. He sent me to their lab for blood work and the lab tech, who had the personality of a rock, stuck my arm and wormed the needle around for minutes before asking if she should try the other arm or send me somewhere else. I left in tears. The bloodwork will wait for another day. There's nothing wrong with my veins, does anyone else find that lab techs today are really lousy at getting blood on the first try or is it just me? Anyway, the rest of the day went well. I wish you good luck with your neighbor issue; I have a problem neighbor too. Guess they're everywhere.

    1. First Bobi, glad you had a wonderful visit with the new doctor. It is nice when they are attentive and listen.
Second, OUCH on the lab tech. That is terrible. I have had family who have had issues like that - it is so hurtful. I don't blame you, I would wait for another day as well.
Glad the rest of the day went well.
Yep, I guess there are good and bad everywhere - neighbors and humans!

    2. If you were at an appointment that long and didn't drink water for some time, your veins shrink due to even slight dehydration. Too bad they didn't let you hydrate and wait 30 min and the bloodwork would likely have been done much easier! Next time try that!

  17. Oh my gosh Cheryl, people are such monsters at times. I will not pitty-pat around on that. I can only imagine what the monster DID. People like that make me ill. I don't tolerate it. Yep, the German/Italian collision in me would definitely become very un-quiet spoken on what you are hinting.

Unfortunately, yesterday evening I too witnessed in print a very cruel woman from our country neighborhood literally chewing out another younger woman in print on the neighborhood loop. This is the second time....We are talking Nazi type arch enemy from WWII crimes, chewing out if not worse. Why? Because the younger woman who bought her home from a widow who had inherited four dumped dogs years ago, and was told by the widow that it was fine to let the dogs wander the woods that they would be back by evening (this is a very rural area). The dogs are happy and sweet dogs running around in the country as they should and the younger woman and her hubs feed the dogs and care for them as promised to the widow. Well the mean spirited cruel woman tore the woman up. The young woman just lost her dad after suffering weeks in the hospital and yesterday was the funeral. The mean woman just said something like 'Sorry for your loss and proceeded to chew the woman out for the dogs not being fenced!" It's unbelievable and made my stomach sink and my heart ache. The younger woman has a disabled son and was with her mother after the funeral reading this venom! This is the second time the mean woman has done this to this poor family with a disabled son! I private messaged the younger woman and she was very grateful, and so upset behind the scenes understandably. My husband later wrote a comment on the thread of the mean woman, her husband and a few classless and heartless people hopping on...Most people were staying off. (Not sure if I'm happy with that either) My husband told them there were other streets to walk on and then gave the scripture for Corinthians about Love not being puffed up, it's not rude and doesn't parade itself around etc. The worst thing? The mean woman and her obedient husband live in a very nice home, a monument to materialism, go on frequent ski trips and attends church! Her husband invites people to attend their church from time to time! They came from the burbs and I wish they would go back if they are going to torture people. Help me somebodeh!!!!

I know what it is like to have a cruel person attack because of things like that.

What is WRONG with people?! I just don't understand people's actions especially if they claim to be a Christian. That just hacks me off.

I'm grateful that my husband was brave enough to comment on that thread because no one else was taking up or correcting this nazi woman. And from the sounds of it no one had privately messaged the younger lady either. Ticks me off. Reminds me of what I've even seen and sensed on blogging on my blog, I don't get it at times.

I hope you are able to get something done about what you witnessed. Not cool. I don't know what it is...Maybe file a report somewhere?

I know for me, I was up quite a bit during the night thinking and praying about the situation. So far no one has answered my husband and that is good. Maybe they will think about it!!!

Hope your week is better Cheryl, how crummy to have a neighbor like that. We must pray though, we wrestle not against flesh and blood. And as we see these are bad, bad, bad spirits operating.

You were kind enough to share with me words of comfort on Sam’s blog following the death of my husband . It’s been just over two weeks since Tony died and my world has stopped . One word I would use to describe this period is Why ? Why him; why now
I have no insights to offer but wanted to visit to thank you for your support

    1. Oh sweety, this is such a hard time. Why? My only answer is God's timing, He was ready to have him home. That is my only way of coping.
We are never ready to lose a loved one - and I have to say - my spouse was the hardest ever.
All I can do is offer you HOPE. There is hope of the days getting better - very slowly - but it happens.
My heart hurts for you and all the other ladies here, that have recently had such a huge loss.
Please take care and stop by anytime. Life is such a huge question - we just take it one day at a time.
      Sending you love and hugs.

  19. I am finding it hard to understand/forgive a family members actions. Through their actions a little foster child will not be spending their birthday with someone who has been a mum to them for the past couple of difficult years. Why, because her new man would not get a police check! Excuse, I'm keeping him separate from my life with --. What the future will hold who know, but the little one was taken away with no warning.
I usually put my name to posts Cheryl and although I doubt the person involved will read this, I am sure it's not common knowledge. I also can not understand this person's parents who have turned a blind eye and supported this situation, despite it being mentioned to them by myself and someone else in the family. I figure why not get checked unless you have something to hide. I think it is such a sad situation.

    1. Oh how sad. That poor child. They are so innocent and believe the best in all - then they are betrayed. That is just horrible.
I do not understand how people can intentionally put a child in danger for another person or for their own happiness. I do not understand.
Thank you for trying. They will have to answer to a higher authority one day. I can totally understand having a hard time forgiving. There are just some things that are never acceptable to me. That is when you walk away, even with family. Prayers for that precious child.
