Many Uses for a Blender

I used to hardly ever use my blender, except to maybe make a milkshake.  That is about all I can remember Mom using one for too.   Then I had a food chopper, my stick blender and a blender.  They all had a set purpose for me.  THEN I was gifted a Ninja - and my world changed.  I love it and use it so often (every day actually),

A blender with a pulse button can be used for so many things.  You can blend, chop and grind!

This is what I have - I use it every morning to make my morning drink!  There are so many uses.
  • Smoothies, malts, shakes
  • Great for making refried beans - they smoosh up in a moment
  • Make pancake, waffle or muffin batter in a moment
  • Hummus - is so easy to make - chickpeas and whatever seasoning you choose
  • Sauces of all types, dressings
  • After dehydrating greens, peels,, etc. - blend into powders to use in cooking
  • Dry herbs can become powder in a moment - great for making spice blends
  • Homemade mayo in a snap
  • Faux ice cream - using frozen fruit and dab of milk (only)
  • You can even blend cream to make butter
  • Turn sugar into powdered sugar
I have this attachment as well - it good for all kinds of wonders.  Great for chopping  relish and salsa.  It is a canning aid for me!
  • On pulse you can chop veggies needed for making relish to correct consistency
  • I chop tomatoes, onions, etc. for salsa
  • I can make the best bread/cracker crumbs - as coarse or fine as you choose
  • Peanut or other nut butters
  • Apple or fruit sauce - in a snap
  • Great to turn rolled oats into flour
  • Making up dry mixes (biscuit, pancake, etc.) - do a quick pulse to mix all ingredients thoroughly
There are such a multitude of uses.  I love my TOY and it sure makes things easier in my life.  One tool and many, many uses.

If you don't use your blender for many different things - YOU are MISSING OUT!!!!!
What do you use your blender for?  Do you have any tips or tricks we all need to know?
I need new ideas!!!!!!!

  1. I LOVE my Ninja! I use it for much of what you mentioned. Mine even has a dough hook and setting for dough so I make my pie crust and pizza dough in it. Best purchase I ever made.

  2. I have a stick blender for making smoothies, but I rarely use kitchen gadgets like blenders, mixers, and choppers. The only one I use regularly is my slow cooker. I'm not even sure if I still have a blender in the cupboard. :p

    1. I used to use my stick blender everyday till I got the Ninja. I do like a slow cooker as well. Fix it and forget it.

I really like mine for making things to can. I also dry my own herbs and it makes making powders a cinch.

  5. Your Ninja is newer than mine. We have used it a ton. I use it almost every morning to make a smoothie. We have a pancake recipe using banana and oats that we put in the blender. Very good. With tomatoes and peppers coming on, it's salsa time! The Ninja is every bit as good as the more expensive products. I don't care to make soup in my blender.

    2. Sorry, I was being facetious because the really expensive blenders Like Vitamix and Blendtec claim you can cook soup in their product. Guess that's a problem with the written word. You couldn't see me rolling my eyes...ha! That brings to mind a major pet peeve of mine. Folks who have their vehicle windows tinted so dark that you can't see them to know if they are paying attention to their driving. Too many people run red lights and pull out in front of traffic. Now I'm off to use my Ninja! Enjoy your day!

    1. I used to have all those as well. I like having one that does it all.
Food processor can be worth it's wait in gold during canning.

  7. Glad you're enjoying your Ninja. Would you believe I'm going on 30 years married and I've never owned a blender? Apparently I've never needed one, not even once.

  8. We need to enter the 21st Century and invest in a Ninja or something like it. Our is the cheapest Hamilton Beach one I could find years ago at Wal-Mart ;-). I would probably drink most of my meals if we had one...I love smoothies.

  10. If you do the veggies for salsa in the blender, don’t they just come out like a salsa flavored smoothie? How do you keep the chunks?

  11. We have a stand blender in the pantry. We used to use it for malts when the boys were home. Now days I use my stick blender for taking out lumps and making mayo. I use the Magic Bullet for smoothies. I should investigate bread crumbs and salsa.
