IF - Just One Thing

I read something yesterday that just hit me.  I have known it my whole life and have spoken of it - but seeing this in black and white, kinds of hit me.  WHAT IF?  Just ONE thing had been different?

I know for me this is so true.  So many exceptional tiny moments made it possible for me to be here today.

The fact that you are here is actually a miracle.  So many things had to align just right.
How much heartache our ancestors had to live and see.  Wars, the great depression, sickness, traveling from other lands, traveling cross country, famines, no work, dust storms, droughts, blizzards, etc.
If just ONE of those people hadn't been involved - you wouldn't be here.

I had family come across the seas on both sides of my family.  Had they not - they would not have met up with their spouses.  My paternal grandfather fathered my Daddy, then he he passed in 1918 of the flu.  Daddy lived in southern part of state and by chance came to the city for a job opportunity and met Mom at her job after she had gotten out of a bad (young love - 16) marriage.
SO many moments in time had to be right.

I guess my point is YOU ARE SPECIAL!  Just like every snowflake, flower, leaf, animal and grain of sand - you are you and you are different from everyone else!!!
Isn't that something????

You are special!  You are loved!  You are worthy!  You are beautiful!  You are perfect!
ALWAYS remember that. Let no one tell you different.

You all know I am a person of faith.  I know not everyone believes as I do.  That is fine. Be you.
To me - there are no accidents.  Each and every thing happens for a reason and not one we are supposed to understand.  The Lord knows you before you are born and He knows when you will leave this world.  He is the Master of all things.
He thought the world needed one of you!

I guess I just needed to say - BE YOU!  Do what you need to do to make your life happy and the world a better place.  You get one shot at this - make it special.

Love, smile, laugh, give, hope, dream.
Things change, our plans change, our bodies change, our families change, our dreams change, our society changes, our world changes - but YOU continue to be the WONDERFUL YOU that you are.

LIVE GENEROUSLY every day!
Have a blessed day my friends.

  1. It is so true. My parents were young adults in WW2 outside Rotterdam. Noone in their immediate families were killed by any of the many bombs dropped by the Germans. They, married in '48. We moved halfway around the world when I was an infant. Then Dad moved us to a rural northwest town when I was 10yo. My husband survived an "un-survivable" birth defect with experimental surgery a surgeon in Salt Lake City was willing to try so his parents let them fly him away to try to give him life. There we met when we were 11 and then "noticed" each other when we were 16. We are now 41y married :-) It's a fun story to share.

  3. Absolutely. My Mom almost died as an infant but was given the first dose of sulfur antibiotics their doctor had ever administered. It was a sample that had come to him on the mail that day. Well that sample saved her life or I would not be here.

  8. Interesting post! What if is an interesting discussion topic. My mom was born in 1912 at home in the hills of Kentucky. She wasn't doing well at birth so she was placed in the oven of the word burning stove, sort of a incubator. If my Grandparents had not done that I would not be here today.

  11. It really is amazing isn't it? As a coincidence, I'm starting a 5 week bible study class this week entitled "Who is in your family tree" - it's to do with Jesus' genealogy - especially as it relates to women in the bible!

  12. Cheryl I think about this often, there are so many things that could have gone a different way. My Dad died when I was 3. My Mom brought me back to Texas because she had family here. My husband was born at 3 pounds in 1959 and did not die. We met at 15 and it was us from then on. Doctors told us we would not have children but God sent a miracle son. I often think of what could have been
if things had been different in my early life but them I would have not met the love of my life and had my beautiful son. My husband died way to early at 51. I have come to the realization that all the bad things and all the wonderful things were part of God's plan not mine. I have to respect the things he has given me, that he knows what he is doing. To accept the life he has chosen for me. I may not be happy with some aspects but he only wants the best for me..does that make any sense?

    1. Amazing story. I so agree - God has control of everything. We don't always understand or agree, but it all has a purpose. Unfortunately death is part of life - and we have to experience it many times with those we love. I truly DO believe - out of bad something good does come. Life is full of growing and learning experiences!

  13. What a great post Cheryl. It does make you stop and think and it is good to look back at our family history and appreciate all that has happened in the past to bring us to where we are today. Love all the stories in the comments too.

  14. Speaking of living generously, these stories, handwritten or typed up on nice paper, could be lovely, priceless gifts to family members. Especially for late teens and young adults. Or for newly married couples in the family, or those starting little families of their own! Just a thought. --Elise
