Weekly Wrap-Up 11/21

Good morning my friends.  Here we are just a few short days away from Thanksgiving and a few short weeks from Christmas!
I have much to do for Christmas.  This girl just hasn't had any giddy up and go at all this week.  Not sure if it is the weather or just me.  I need to get my bum a bobbing this week and really accomplish more.
I have plans for today - but as I sit here and look out my window - well, who knows.  It is raining and dark and dreary - just blah.
BUT, I need to remind myself I have been given this day as a gift from the Lord and I need to make good use of it!!

I will probably be going to my niece's home for Thanksgiving (brother's dau.).  I will bake a small turkey on Friday for here and then maybe have a neighbor over sometime on the weekend for dinner.  I have no real plans to go out shopping on Black Friday - what a mess it can be.  I think I may go instead to the orchard, as they sent me a message about fresh grapefruit and oranges and of course they have apples and cider.  Sounds tasty to me.

I will probably post on Tuesday and Wednesday and then again on Friday this week.

My quiet week:
  • I finally started sewing a little bit at the very end of the week on the blankets.  I just can't get myself motivated to sew!!!  I have much to do and need to get busy.  Wish me luck!
  • I cleaned the deck around the greenhouse of leaves one morning - HA - you can't tell it now!
  • I have raked leaves in the back twice this week and got them on the garden spot.  So many more leaves now due to wind and rain
  • I got my cards out and ready to address
  • Refilled all the animal bins with feed I have on hand
  • Trimmed my hair
  • I got to air the house on two days early in week, as it warmed a little - the kitties sure enjoyed some decent days!
  • Just doing all the normal things - using what I have, eating from home, cleaning this and that, staying out of stores and not spending, etc.
  • NO grocery store this week
My meals for this past week:
Taco pasta bowl (used leftover taco meat/beans)
Chili over Spanish rice (both from freezer)
Cheeseburger and fries
Fried potatoes, scrambled eggs and smoked sausage link
Deconstructed egg roll over rice
Chili cheese dogs over fries
Different version of goulash skillet - meat, chili beans, diced potatoes, salsa & cheese
SNACKS - cookies, fruit, cinnamon/sugar toast, juice

Deconstructed eggroll over rice.  I had NO hard oriental noodles - so I used bits of Triscuts from the bottom of the bag for crunch!  Quite tasty.  I used ham instead of sausage this time
Chili cheese dog smothered fries.  That filled the belly well!

I have had a quiet week.  My main accomplishment was napping!!!!  LOL.  I guess I needed some extra rest as I am not really a big napper.
I sure do need to light a fire under me for the upcoming weeks.  How has your week been? You keeping busy?  Finding any deals or freebies?

I hope you all have a lovely week.  I know many will be entertaining family and friends and have much cooking to do.  Don't over do it!  ENJOY your time and efforts and your families.
Stay safe and healthy.  Travel mercies to all who are on the go this week.
Blessings from my humble little home to you and yours.

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I will help you."

  1. Saying a prayer we all find motivation SOON. With flu shot and c-word booster, I felt tired, achy and yuck lately, so naps became part of my daily routine, too. I have things to wrap, cards to write and the house to clean... as soon as I find some energy/enthusiasm.

Your meals always look delicious, Cheryl! I got the last of what we need for Thanksgiving at Walmart + other staples (cheese, bread, cereal, etc.) and came in at less than $40, which makes me happy. Other bargains included a freshwater pearl with CZ pendant & earring set to gift a niece for $7.61 and a FREE pair of jeans for me that my hubby can wrap up. He loves it when I do the shopping. LOL!

    1. LOL - I will check and if I see it - I will send it home to you!
Thanks - the dish is so easy. Basically slaw mix - garlic powder and soy - usually add in ground sausage, but used ham this time. Just fry till slightly cooked.
      Have a good week

    1. Gray, wet and gloomy can sure do it. We did have a couple nice days this week - and then those were the days I got something done!
Thanks, I will let you know if I get my gitty up again!! LOL
      Have a good one.

  6. I can identify with your lack of energy at times. I say my get up and go got up and went...lol! I am currently blaming the changing weather and that doggone time change which always knocks me for a loop. However, I will be having twenty here for Thanksgiving. I am so thankful and excited! But...I must kick it in gear and get things done and organized.
I love that on Sundays you always include a Bible verse..thank you!
Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you and all your readers.
PS...Sadly, I too find way to much escape in food...but it tastes So Good..wink, wink!

    1. I think you are on to something - weather and time change. I am still all mixed up with the time thing. Yep, you got to get it together!
Food is our one thing we all have in common - and YES it tastes so darn good.
You are welcome. Tiny reminders of our blessings.
You have a great week and don't work too hard.

  7. The dark gloomy days sure don't do much in the way of motivation. I endeavor each day to honor the Father for the days he gives me, sunny or not. It's too easy to complain about things I don't like but I like to show gratitude for what He does for me and make good use of my time.

We are planning a stir fry early in the week. Trying to do something each day in preparation for Thanksgiving.

Some kid pulled out in front of my daughter and it totaled her car. The guy's insurance has been dragging their feet but it looks like the settlement is in sight. If you know of anyone in your neck of the woods with a car for sale, I'd appreciate it. People are not buying new cars so I fear that decent and affordable used cars will be few and far between.

    1. Yes indeed - dark and gloomy makes the mojo slow down. Each day is a blessing
It helps to spread the preparations out.
Oh no, I hope she is OK. I will keep my ears open - but off hand know of no one selling. Sure hope she finds something decent.
      Have a good week.

  8. Working hard to get things completed here. I have my card list and that is as far as I have gotten on that. Same can be said about baking. I have finished the blanket for oldest son to give to a friend and pulled out the sewing machine to get those sewing projects completed. I think three pairs of oven mitts and the carpenters apron need to get done this week. I have also started the knitted blanket for our youngest and will work on that in the evenings.

    God bless.

    1. Sounds like Mrs. Claus is a busy lady! Good for you for getting all your projects done. Those all sound like such nice gifts.
You need to send good vibrations my way!
      Have a great week.

  9. So many seem to take winter as a disappointment. For me, I love the cold dark days. They give us the time for memories, reflection, a time to focus inward and appreciate what we had and do have. I love to be cozy in my home, fix food that warms my soul and body. Wear my soft warm PJ's, pull out those comforting soft warm sheets and blankets. I love hot cups of tea, chocolate and soup. You have the weather to blame if you want to curl up and read a book all day long. See it as the blessing it is, spend time with your families and friends, enjoy the time you have with them.

    1. Love your thinking. I love all the things you mentioned except the dark gloomy days. I just can't get past the darkness and the gloom. They just work on me. I do love the cozy house and warm scents and wonderful comfort foods and the reading.
I go outside several times a day, every day, so I get fresh air. I have kitties to tend to. I just am a sunshine lover!!!
      Have a great week.

  10. I’m so glad you napped...your body needed it. Probably recharging in the blah weather. Take good care of yourself, holidays or not.
We love you here and so do your kitties and family.
    Blessings~

    1. Thanks. I figured I must have needed it as well. You never know - it could be the bodies way of fending off illness or something.
I love all you guys too. You have no idea how much having you all in my life has helped me.

  11. I have all our Christmas bags bought and lined up in our spare bedroom for each family member, now I just have to fill them up. LOL I do have a few things in each bag. I can tell you I will not be going shopping on Black Friday or the entire Thanksgiving weekend. Way too many people then! So the plan is to go the following week and we hope to get most of it done.

    1. You sound like me. I do that with bags and then just add things as I make or get them.
Good plan on not going shopping next weekend. I used to and enjoyed it - not any more. Too many people out there. The orchard may be the extent on my shopping over the weekend. It won't be crazy.
      Have a great week

  12. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, if I don't get back here. You're not the only one struggling with finding that motivation. I think the time change and gloomy cloudy weather is taking it's toll! Definitely need a nap some days! All the best!
