Weekly Wrap Up 11/28

Happy Sunday to all.  Last weekend of November - wow - time is flying.
We have had rain and cold and wind part of week.  This coming week is supposed to stay in the 40's and up.  I can handle that!!!
The past few nights we have had the most incredible sunsets.  The brightest pinks and oranges - just beautiful.  There are no Christmas lights that can come close to matching God's lights!

I found out yesterday that my sister (who's 90) is in the hospital.  She fell going out to her garage (while going out to take leftovers to a neighbor) and fell on her left shoulder.  She broke/fractured her shoulder.  No surgery to be done, can't cast - so she is being braced and having to do LOTS of therapy.  That may be ongoing for a bit.  Doubtful she goes home for a little bit.  She is such a little bitty gal (5') and she is most definitely "her" Mom.  LOL!  Just like Momma she is the most stubborn thing!  I sure hope she mends quickly.

My little tree!
 My quiet week:
  • Did a lot of cleaning - vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc.
  • Did my little bit of Christmas decorating
  • Early in week - more raking of leaves
  • First half of week, I made easy and simple meals leading up to turkey day!
  • Did a little sewing
  • I made tea this week.  It has been a while.  Tea gets boring to me - so I changed up flavors each day by adding different flavorings to each glass (orange, lemon, strawberry)
  • My neighbor who came for Tday dinner brought several sampler pieces of cheesecake he purchased.  I made a cherry cheesecake - so have had plenty.  He got half of cherry to take home.  My balance is going in freezer today - I love frozen cheesecake
  • I put the turkey carcass in the freezer to make stock later
  • I have been getting lots of premium channels on cable this week and weekend.  Not sure how long it will last - but recording some movies for later
  • I did a knock off of my favorite restaurant dinner - using turkey instead of chicken.  Alice Springs Chicken from Outback.  I sauteed mushrooms and onion in gravy/butter.  Heated turkey and topped with Swiss cheese then added mushrooms.  Oh my goodness, I think it was the best bite that I have ever made (seriously good).  Had it with fries - as I always got fries at Outback as well.
  • Paid everything I had here for the month
  • Stayed home all week - never leaving the property
Meals this past week:
Burrito made with leftovers and topped with slaw mix
Dinty Moore beef stew (had it in pantry)
Waffles from freezer
Pizza slices from freezer
Thanksgiving - turkey, baked mac n cheese, biscuits, gravy, green beans & dessert (small dinner)
Thanksgiving leftovers
'Alice Springs' turkey & fries
SNACKS - cereal, small salad, bologna  & crackers, cheesecake, turkey biscuits
                                                            Alice Springs turkey

How did your week go?  Did you get to have or be with others for Thanksgiving?   Still eating leftovers?  Did you do any shopping this week?  Deals?  Inquiring minds need to know!!!!  LOL
I always look forward to hearing from each of you.

Stay safe, stay warm, stay healthy.
Blessings from my humble little home to yours.

Every day.  We have all had those times in life that our faith is shaken - but we continue on.  God has a plan - someday we will understand.  Never stop believing.  Healing blessings to all.

Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask.  Pray then like this:
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven .......
Matthew 6: 8-10

    1. That is the best thing Outback makes in my opinion - but I am not a steak person.
Thanks - little is just fine for me. It is still lights!
Thanks - I hope she does as well.

  2. Sorry to hear your sister fell. I hope she is on the mend quickly. Sounds like you had a good week. I am using the rest of the turkey and stock today and making a big pot of Brunswick stew. We'll have for dinner tonight and maybe a lunch this week and the rest will be put in the freezer for future meals.
    Enjoy your Sunday.

    1. Thank you - I sure hope she mends quickly as well. I think they are saying maybe 6 weeks - we'll see.
I made turkey salad for today. I am going to package the rest and freeze for future meals and soups. Your soup sounds tasty.
      Have a great week.

  3. Praying for a quick and complete recovery for your sister. We had our oldest son's family here for Thanksgiving and we are tired! I had some nice conversations about when I was a kid with the grands and snuggles with the granddaughter. They are growing up so fast!

So happy you got to have a nice time with your son's family. Those little are so precious and sponges for all those wonderful stories. They do grow up quickly.
      Have a great week

  4. I'm sorry your sister had a fall. I hope she heals quickly and finds the rehab not to taxing.

I must admit reading decorating for Christmas and raking leaves in the same list made me chuckle. Any leftover leaves are under the snow here.

    Take care, stay well.

    1. Thank you - I hope she gets through the therapy well myself.
I know - funny right? Crazy weather here. One measurable snow (1") once and so far that is it. Leaves are still falling and one day this week they are predicting 60*. Crazy weather for sure.
Have a great one and stay safe.

  6. Made a cranberry conserve recipe that I got from my sister-in-law.
    1 bag cranberries
    1 c water
    1 c sugar
2 apples peeled and diced, I didn't peel
    2 pears peeled and diced
1 orange peeled sectioned and chopped
    1 cup golden raisins, optional
    1 c orange juice
    1 T lemon juice
1/4 t cinnamon or pie spice
Bring water to boil, add sugar and stir to dissolve. Add cranberries cook 5 to 10 minutes until berries burst. Add chopped fruits and raisins cook another 5 minutes or so until apples and pears are tender. Stir in juices and spices. Cool, cover, and refrigerate 24 hours. Serve.
We did not have family over as we don't live near. We usually have a family non-traditional Thanksgiving. We just make all of our favorite foods. This year, we had Brisket with peach-mustard bbq sauce, green bean casserole, shrimp cocktail dip, and the cranberry conserve. So tasty!

    2. Thak you! That sounds yummy. The day should be about what you like - and yours sounds good. I bet that is good for breakfast!

  8. I love your little tree, I bet it adds a festive little glow at night. Sorry to hear about your sissy and her shoulder. Ouch! Hope she feels better in the coming days. Therapy will definitely help. No stores at all this weekend, I'm not crazy. LOL But we will be heading out in the morning hoping to find some Christmas gifts. Hopefully all the weekend shoppers didn't take everything.

    1. Thanks - it does add a pretty glow. I love Christmas lights.
She is so angry with herself for not hanging on to the doorway. Bless her heart - she is a stubborn one.

Don't blame you for staying home. Me too. I thought about going to the grocery today - then figured it wouldn't be stocked yet after a busy weekend. I will go Tues. or Wed.
Have fun shopping. Have a great week

  9. I'm glad to hear that you and your neighbor shared a Thanksgiving meal. A selection of cheesecake in the freezer is a good thing, as well. It is too bad that your tiny sister fell and injured her shoulder; especially while on a mission of doing good. I hope she recovers well. This could be a lesson for us all to supplement our diets to protect our bones as we age for we don't absorb vitamin D from the sun as readily as when we were young and we are in the season of reduced UV rays. Have a bite of cheesecake for me, Cheryl! I will have a bite of pumpkin pie for you!

    1. Thanks - it was nice to sit down and have a conversation and meal with someone.
I amazed at how well she really does for her age. She is feisty!! Gladly it is her left arm and she is righthanded.
I am huge on taking Vit. D and C and zink. I am outside many times a day every day - but still take supplements.
      Will do - enjoy!
      Have a great week

  10. Hope your sister has a complete and swift recovery! Will add her to my prayer list.

You had a good Thanksgiving! Yum on the cheesecake! We were going to make turkey tetrazzini from leftover turkey yesterday but wound up tracking down a new-to-her car for our daughter. That car was an answer to prayers and I told the gentleman who owned the car to be sure and tell his wife, who is a preacher, that God does answer prayer.

I have a little notebook that I record bits and pieces from bloggers. Wrote down the text from the graphic.

    1. Thank you. I talked to her this morning and bless her, she sure is hurting. So hard to do things one handed and armed. Thank you for your prayers!
YAY on finding the vehicle. Yes, our God does answer prayer. He is so good.

I am always writing down little notes of things that touch me.
      Have a great week

  11. Love your tree. Mine is getting set up this afternoon. Not sure if I'll get all the ornaments on, but it will at least be a start. Thanksgiving week was one of eating out, and I'm looking forward to getting back on track this week. Wound up having an unexpected dinner out with friends who were passing through town, then out for my sister's birthday, Thanksgiving with my niece and family, Friday was pizza night with another group of friends, and then went to my sister's house to visit with her, my mother, niece, and nephew, before the "kids" headed home. My prayers for your sister's healing. The older we get, the more problematic falling can be. I pray she has a complete recovery.

    1. What an active and fun week you had! It sounds great - so much visiting and yummy food!
Yes, I have managed to fall or come near so many times, and I am always thankful for a good outcome. It is scary. She is in a sling and is having a hard time doing anything by herself. Thus the therapy for quite a while. She says she really hurts. Thank you for your prayers - she can use them.
      Have a great week.
