Happy Wednesday - one week until Christmas! Oh my!
It is a cool and damp morning. We had rain overnight - so things are still damp, and it is muddy! Just a gray kind of day. It is around 40*F and won't be moving much all day.
Well, stick a fork in me and call me done!!!! I went out yesterday and got the last couple items I wanted to get for baskets, and I am DONE! Well, except for baking and things I am making in the kitchen.
I ran to Menards and got a couple items. I wanted to get a couple extra mushroom growing kits - why? Because I wanted at least one too! I was afraid they would be gone, and they didn't have many left. So, I got lucky. They are going in 4 gift bags with other goodies.
How fun is that? I think everyone will enjoy - it is something different and something they can use and eat!DEALS
If you have a Meijer grocery - check it out. I heard from a friend about their veggie deal - so I stopped in there while out. It is across the road from Menards.
Beans, corn and peas (store brand) - .39 can!!! NO LIMIT. I kept watching carts as I walked through the store, and didn't see many people with them. No big aisle display as they used to do. Maybe they didn't want to sell that badly. They were with all other veggies in the veggie aisle. I got a case of each - with what I have I am good for a long time. They were dated end of '26 and into '27.Simply veg, salt and water. I love them to add to homemade soups and things. Sale good through Saturday.
Not a price that is often seen in today's market!!!!
ALSO - if you have Kroger - check ads today. Butter is on digital coupon until Christmas Eve 2.99/lb.
Shows up in IN and OH that I know of - check your ads!!!! Stock up when you can and as cheaply as you can.
Well gang, I am off to get busy. Mrs. Claus's helper still has some goodies to make over the next few days!
I hope whatever you put your hands to today, that it is successful.
Have a lovely and blessed day.
STAY SAFE out there!!!
Your tomatoes look good! Enjoy every morsel!
ReplyDeleteWe are headed to Costco and then Meijer. Erin just bought veg at Kroger and she thought she got a good deal at 10/$10. She may buy more at the 39 cents price.
Cold and gloomy but it's to be expected. Rather this than snow, thank you so much!
They are still pretty tasty.
DeleteHappy shopping - get some good deals. Hopefully you can get some of the veggies or at least your daughter can.
I will take this over snow and ice every day!
I found a similar sale for veggies at my local Ingles (NC). They were 50 cents each. I bought 12 cans of beans and 12 cans of corn. I prefer frozen peas, so I didn't pick any up. Paula
ReplyDeleteThat is a good deal as well. I prefer frozen peas as well - but for veggie soup, I can use canned.
DeleteI think I am getting your rain. I still have spinach and bokchoy in my garden at least for a while. I think the lack of fresh veggies is what makes winter so hard. Yes I can buy at the grocery and those are ok, but they are just ok.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the heads up on the canned veggies. I think it has been more then a year since I have seen them for least then .60.
I love that people are still eating fresh garden goodies. I miss fresh garden veggies in the winter too. Store bought aren't the same. I can eat them - but you are right, not the same.
DeleteSure, I hope you get some of them. That is just a crazy good price.
That is a good price on vegetables!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I thought so too.
DeleteGreat buy on canned veg, looks like you're ready for WW3. I like the corn and green beans, peas not so much. I can't think of any use for canned peas other than sticking them in the blender with some kiwi fruit and making a green smoothie.
ReplyDeleteI am good on food - like to have plenty over the winter.
DeleteI am not a fan of canned peas except in veggie soup. I make my own soup - so they will last a couple winter for that.
Excellent purchase on canned goods! I've not seen such prices in years. :)
ReplyDeleteToday was laundry and then delivery of a gift to a semi-invalid. Nice little visit there. :)
Cheryl, you are, yourself, a Penny from Heaven! Thank you. :)
MaryB
Cheapest I had seen in ages too! Couldn't pass it up - heck it is a great price to get and to donate too.
DeleteSounds like a busy day. Hope that was a nice visit. Thanks for the reminder - I need to get some laundry done.
LOL - you got it! You are welcome.
I too think you area Penny from Heaven. CindyWV
DeleteCindy - smiles!!!
DeleteI hemmed Hubs new pajama pants. It's heck being short!
ReplyDeleteIt's a cold and rainy day here today. You got some really good deals. Did a bunch of errands on Monday a few towns over and found frozen broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, on sale for 99 cents a bag, down from $2.49. Grabbed a few bags to add to the freezer. We love pomergranites and they were on special for $2.00 so I got a couple and the seeds will go on the Christmas salad. They had no fresh herbs so today we went to our local IGA and they had what I needed and their pomes were $4 each. Unbelievable. We like to stay stocked up for winter too.
ReplyDeleteI echo Mary B's comment about the Penny from Heaven. Thank you so much! Blessings, Cookie
Rainy cold days are icky! Just so dreary. Wow, that is a great deal on frozen veggies. I wish had some room - but what a problem to have! Full freezer!!!
DeleteYou know I have never had a pomegranate. May have to try them someday.
It just feels good to be stocked up in the winter.
LOL - you are welcome.
I ran out this morning and got as much of my shopping done as was possible. I will still have to go out Saturday morning and get some salad things for our Christmas meal. Turkeys were a bit on the small size, but I will make do. I am now home and out of the stormy weather that rolled in at around 2 pm and is getting worse.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Glad you got most of what you need. If the weather gets real bad, I bet you can get by without extras. Stay safe and warm.
DeleteFun post, Cheryl. Have fun helping 🤶 Mrs. Claus!
ReplyDeleteMary in OK
Thanks - I will. This is her busy time of the year!
DeleteThanks for the heads up on Meijer. I need to get some cut green beans, corn, and creamed corn. Yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome. Hope you get stocked up for the winter!
DeleteI'm impressed you still have tomatoes! How awesome! Glad you got all of your shopping done. I've got to get to baking as well! Thanks for the head's up about butter at Kroger. We don't have a Meijer, but we do have Kroger! I love stocking up on butter at a good price. I use so much of it! Hope the weather gets better soon. We just finished up three days of rain. Now it's cold, but at least no more rain until very late next week! Take care!
ReplyDeleteI picked them green and they have held up well and lasted. Still taste good to me!
DeleteSure, hope you can stock up on butter. We need to get the deals while we can.
Hope your weather gets better too. Looks like we will have showers for Christmas and Christmas Eve here. Hope you have good weather for the holidays!
Those TOMATOES! They look so good! I am in Florida and couldn't grow one tomato this year. It was sort of a transition year for me though....I have been helping my daughter with her little girl this week (7 month old). She hasn't been getting better so to the doctor they went. Flu B is what she has! UGH. I hope she gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteI just have a couple of presents left to wrap and I am done! I love it. I made some homemade cranberry juice and pickled onions for a friend and will make some bread and banana bread next week for another friend.
Have a great day all!
I had a really good year for tomatoes - and when frost was predicted I picked all the green ones. They have ripened nicely! Still taste good.
DeleteI am sorry there is sickness in the family. Sure hope she gets to feeling better quickly. No fun to be sick, let alone at the holiday time.
Cranberry juice sounds good and so do the onions. What a nice friend to make such goodies.
Stay well.
I always wanted to give mushroom growing a go. Seems like such a fun thing to do and we love shrooms here. So tasty. I like to dry them out too and use them later for soups. Delightful.
ReplyDeleteI plan to give it a shot after NY. I think it will be fun and I love them to boot!
