Winding Down and Taking Time to Relax

Howdy Ho everyone!  Well, here we are the day after Christmas. Today is Boxing Day, celebrated in many countries.  Yesterday was the beginning of the 8 day Hanukkah celebration.  One more week and we will be into a new year!
This morning it is in the mid 40's and rainy!  Kind of the forecast for a bit.  We will have a warm week, then cooling going into the new year.  So yes, we had a wet Christmas - nothing white at all.

Yesterday brought too much food, too many gifts, and way too much excitement and noise!  Oh goodness, the kiddos were still so excited but oh so tired, by the time they got to my brothers.  They all got up super early and it was surely nap time!  Can we say whiney, cranky and tired?  LOL
Gosh it all happened in a blink of an eye, didn't it?
I still have a celebration to go on Sunday - and I look forward to that.  Love seeing the niece and nephews and their families from out of town.  THEN it will be relaxing and chilling until after the new year!! YEP!
Yes indeed, just because the 'gift' day is over - we still have the REASON of season to love and celebrate and cherish every day.

I hope you all had wonderful visits with family and/or friends if you chose to celebrate.  There is bound to be lots of leftovers to eat for the next few days - always a good thing in my opinion.
Get creative and re-invent them so you don't get bored!

If you are so inclined - I am sure there are bargains to be found out there over the next few days.  Whether it be meats and baked goods (overabundance in stores), or wrap, cards, candy or gift items, there should be a lot of mark-downs available.  IF you need things - take advantage of the sale prices.

Enjoy the last few days of this year.  I am looking forward to a new year and starting all fresh again.  Take time to reflect and remember the good things - learn lessons from the things that didn't work and take pride in the fact that you are here today INSPITE of it all!
Enjoy the remainder of the week!

  1. The littles were probably higher than a kite! Too little sleep, too much sugar, too much excitement. Oh, to be a child again.

The sentiment that we should try to hold on to the holiday spirit all year long is so true. Kind of like folks who go to church on Sunday for an hour and the rest of their week is less than holy.

We had a little rain this morning and according to the forecast, rain pretty much all day tomorrow.

Our day was very quiet. The Farmer is still having an issue with his stomach after drinking some coffee at Dunkin Donuts a week or so ago. We are wondering if the water was not clean or sanitary protocols were not followed regarding cleanliness of the store. It's almost like he had food poisoning. Erin came over with her order from the Chinese place down the street. It was not a traditional holiday meal. We had a nice visit, despite the Farmer not feeling well.

Enjoy your family this weekend! Then we can all crash from all the excitement. ha!

We are going to the Speedway Big Lots store to pick a few things we always buy there. Looks like they will be closing all the stores very soon.

    1. I think you are right about the kiddos. SO much energy!
Yes, we need to stop the hate and just find things in common that we can get along with.
Sorry hubs was feeling bad. That is worrisome that happened since the coffee shop! You had Christmas Story meal! Lots of people I know do Chinese.
Thanks - it will be fun - but I will be glad when all the holiday stuff is done.
Yes, such a shame about Big Lots - I don't have a chance until maybe Monday - I will see. They been around a long time.
I heard Feb. on closures. Prob. depends on how quickly they sell things.

  2. Kiddo up too early happened here too. His mom got a morning nap, G'ma did not. :)
It warmed up nicely to around freezing yesterday so D and Eli were able to go sledding in the afternoon. I still didn't nap.
Today, she's been out doing some Boxing Day shopping. I stayed home with Eli - so no spending for me!

    1. Kiddos do get excited and want to get up early. Can't blame them. Sorry you didn't get a nap. Neat that they got to go sledding - what a fun Christmas adventure.
Smart to stay in and not spend. No since spending if you need nothing.

  3. I'm glad you enjoyed your Holiday. We did as well. The week between Christmas and New Years is my favorite and it's all about no routine, no schedule, fun and relaxing at home. The cold is supposed to hit us next Thursday, just in time for me to go back to work. Enjoy your day Cheryl!!

  5. Christmas was lovely, with too much everything - food, sugar, excitement, gifts. :) So glad I got to church the night before. Good to settle my mind in the right direction before the Big Day, and then hymn singing Christmas evening. I love the old Christmas hymns. At the moment I'm stuck on "O come, o come Emmanuel" which is really Advent, but I can't get it out of my mind!

  7. Our granddaughter who is 2 said "I need more presents." LOL. She got plenty. I think she just enjoys opening them. Her best present will arrive soon, a sibling.
It was amazingly quiet in our neighborhood last evening. There was little noise from the highway a half mile north of us. The stars were sparkling, (planes, too). Made for a lovely walk with the dog. Wishing you a peaceful and happy 2025.
