BE What You Want to See

Today - no recipes and no frugal tips.  Just a tip to start the new month on being WHAT you WANT TO SEE!!!  We all get tired of of the garbage we are bombarded with each day.  Can we change that?  Well - we don't have to participate.  We can be the light that is so needed now.  Is this my Pollyanna self and thinking coming out?  Maybe - but I prefer to be a positive force than a negative Nellie!

Are your tired of negativity? - Be the positive thinker of the group
Are you tired of hatred?  Be the loving person
Are you sick of shortages?  Prepare your home and not worry
Are you sick of negative TV, news and comments?  Turn it off, do not listen and remove or delete

Little things matter.  Be kind and thoughtful.  DO NOT spread hatred or negativity.
Be the one to help a stranger in need or help the animal shelter.  Be the one to donate to a food pantry or to the homeless shelter.  Little actions make BIG differences for others.

You may only be able to donate some gently used clothing - but it may be  just what someone else needs.
You may be able to only donate a few cans of food - but it may keep someone from being hungry.
You may be able to only donate some old towels or blankets or a few cans of food - but it may help some animals in need at the shelters.
You may be only able to donate your time - but that may be what is needed.
You may be able to only lend an ear - but someone may just need someone to talk to and to listen.
You may be only to offer a hug - that may be the comfort someone needs at that moment.
You may be only able to offer a smile - it may be the only kind gesture someone sees today.

You all have been here long enough to know, that I try to avoid certain subjects.  If someone mentions them in comments - I kind of don't respond.
I want this to be a SAFE place.  A HAPPY place.  A place for POSITIVE living and ideas.

You can find all the negative, hate, fear mongering, panic, evil and conspiracy that you desire in so many places, you don't need it here.  I aim to keep this our SAFE zone.
I am not ignorant of what is going on in the world - I am quite aware, as I am sure you are.  That doesn't mean we have to re-live it here.
We teach.  We learn.  We share.  We pray.  We laugh.  We cry.  We do these things all TOGETHER and with love and caring.

Have a fantastic day and month.  Go forward and BE what you want your life to be and what you want to see in the world.  Love and happiness are infectious and it spreads!!!!!!
I love you all and so appreciate you!

  4. My best friend is so like you... encouraging, uplifting, positive. I try to practice what you advocate in this post by trying to be kind and loving every single day. But by nature, I am more of a worrier/pessimist. However, that doesn't mean I can't choose to not let that be my mood. We all get choices daily as to how we live.

    1. Yes, life is all about choices. I worry too - but it really does no good. I try to pray instead - God has this. So I turn my frets over to Him.
      Choose happy and smile!

  5. I got so tired of all the negativity that I started to do quotes on my Facebook page in January. Uplifting quotes, which I found out people just wait to read. Scared me a bit.

    God bless.

  7. Excellent post! I think a lot of people are simply living in fear. We have been bombarded with messages to fear this and fear that and even fear each other. Fear brings out the worst in people. I try to keep in mind the spirit of the Serenity Prayer and concern myself with that I can do something about and not be overly concerned with the rest. When we regain our sense of perspective, we are then able to live in serenity, knowing that God has this.

    1. Amen! I love your view of this.
Yes God has this - we all know the ending of the Book, so why are we afraid?
I have complete faith in Him and know He has me covered in His shield. His will be done.
Thank you so much for showing another perspective.

  9. Giving the gift of kindness to others takes nothing. I went to Aldi to get fresh produce and dairy. Got my quarter out for a cart but when I got to the carts someone else had left their quarter behind. I took the cart and proceeded with my shopping. When I left the store a couple was coming up for a cart and I gave them the one I had. By someone leaving that quarter in the cart I am sure there were many people who where able to use it. I had done that often so I was happy to see other people do the same. Went to another store that had meat on sale, lady coming out with small children, waited for her to put her groceries in the car and then went and said I will take that cart back, young mothers should not have to walk away for a minute from their children. Just little things that are helpful to others help you too!

    1. Indeed. The simplest and easiest things we can do can make someone else's day. Reaching up and getting something off a shelf for someone, holding the door, saying "have a nice day", complimenting someone - all just tiny things that cost nothing.
      Thank you!!!!!

    1. Oh my goodness - what a sweet thing to say! Thank you, you have no idea what that means to me.
You are such a busy gal - you just have to pace yourself and learn that NO is OK to say sometimes.
So happy that we have become acquainted!

  12. Excellent, excellent post! While we need to be aware of what is going on in this world, it is definitely not good for our physical or mental health to wallow in the "bad news" hours at a time. Beautiful comments from your readers and I especially like the one about the cart pass-along at Aldi's. Eye contact and a genuine smile goes a long way when encountering folks. There was an older fellow in the waiting room at the eye specialist the Urban Farmer goes to and he looked like he had been sucking on dill pickles soaked in lemon juice. We both wondered what the story was with him. Most folks will respond positively to positive vibes.

    Cooler weather...yay!

    1. Sure, we need to be aware but not wallow in it. Good word!
I had an aunt that used to be that way - nothing was good or good enough, and she complained about everything. Daddy used to say she was old when she was young. Not a fun person to be around.
I figure - why not be positive - it costs nothing and does so much good.
