Good morning all. I sure am hoping you are all safe and well. Boy what a night we had all over the place. The storms didn't start here until after 9PM - so after dark. I hate that, as you can't see what is coming.
Any way we had a couple hours of crazy stuff. Torrential rains, high winds (65-70 mph straight-line here), tornado sirens, lots of stuff going on.
I was very lucky! A couple branches down and some water in the backyard. Have seen lots more water in the past.
There were tornados north of here and even some rotation just a handful of miles south of me. Lots of damage all around the city/state, by watching the news this morning. Semis flipped on the highway even happened due to the winds. Only one injury reported amazingly.
The pictures of the damage are just so sad.
The lights stayed on here, never even lost power. We faired so well in my area.
There is a lot more rain coming from tonight through the weekend, so there will also be flood warnings.
Spring storms just stink.
So please, please check in!!!!! I care about each of you.
Prayers for your safety and that of your families.
I hope each of you can have a wonderful weekend.
Many blessings
Good morning, I'm so glad to hear you are alright. Saying prayers for everyone back your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am sure a lot of people need prayers. So much damage out there.
DeleteHave a super day!!
Hi Cheryl. I'm glad to hear you made it through relatively unscathed. It was SO windy all day yesterday. The storms started rolling in our area around 5pm and we got the all clear around 9. Many tornadoes and wall clouds all around us in every direction. The picture I've seen are pretty scary. We had heavy rain and wind but no damage or power loss. It was a bit to close for comfort though. Now we have three days of 'historic' rainfall to look forward to. I hope everyone in the path is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are OK. Yes it was scary and way too close.
DeleteYours ended about when ours started. The pictures are really dreadful.
Sure not looking forward to rain, but what are we to do? I am glad I don't live near a waterway. Stay safe!!!!!
Glad to read you are ok. Yesterday we had an April blizzard - 2 inches of snow followed by icy rain and howling winds! Today - its sunny, the snow is gone and it's going up to 18C (about 62F)!!! Some of my family are still dealing with power outages from last weekend's ice storms just north and east of the city - lots of trees came down but no damage to homes except for basement sump pumps failing and a fear of freezing pipes. Spring weather!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW - that is a lot in a day! It is amazing how things can change on a dime. So glad that everyone is ok and no homes were hurt. A little water can be dealt with, as long as the structure is good. I sure hope they get their power back on quickly.
DeleteStay safe - hope you get no more stuff like that!!!!
Thanks!
All good here (north of you) it was a wild ride last night. We did lose power for a bit over 2 hours but that's why I have candles, flashlights and oil lamps if needed. I forgot to bring in the solar lights and didn't want to go out in the torrential rain to get them.
ReplyDeleteI have more limbs and sticks down but that is expected living in a woods.
JC
So happy to hear from you and that all is OK. It sure was something. Glad the outage didn't last too long.
DeleteStay safe.
Glad you made it through the storm okay. Hopefully, things will calm down.
ReplyDeleteStorm wise maybe, but tons of rain coming in the next few days. Flood warnings all over.
DeleteThanks.
Glad y'all are ok. We didn't have any storms but the power went out for a few hours. I didn't know about it as I was at my son's house and only discovered it when I got home and the clocks and computer were messed up. ;)
ReplyDeleteMaryB
Thank you. Glad you didn't have storms. I can always tell with my stove clock - it will be flashing.
DeleteGlad it didn't hurt anything.
Hi, I'm in southwest Missouri. The storms slipped around me. I had only high winds and rain.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had no major storms in your immediate area. Such a blessing. It is amazing how the paths change.
DeleteDONNA - hope all is well. I know there was a lot of damage around your area. Check in as soon as possible. Prayers!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that all is okay at your place. Praying for all those affected by the storms.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you. It sure was a scary time and so many people have been affected. So much damage around.
DeleteWe had severe storms this week and a TON of rain. Flooded the backyard- I guess it just couldn't drain fast enough. Funny thing is on Monday ( before the storms ) I got a text that power co was going to shut our power off in a couple hours for 5 hours. They had to do a repair IMMEDIATELY (well couple hours later lol).
ReplyDeleteGrateful for the heads up my husband readied everything including water to flush with. Generator connected to sump pump, fridge. a few lights, etc. Water in a pot was on low on the gas stove so we didn't have to light it with a match later to cook.
The repair took slightly less than an hour. Husband said he probably didn't need to do anything for that little amount of time but they said 5 hours!
It always pays to be prepared. Like they say 'plan for the worst and hope for the best'.
DeleteThere has sure been a lot of rain and more to come it appears.
Glad you are fine from the storms - minus a little flooding. Mine was flooded this morning and there is still some out there.
Glad all is well.
My daughter lives north of Indy and the tornado passed very close to her place. She sent me a map of the storm path and where she lives. Right near her. She stayed in the bathroom until it passed. So scary. Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane I am so glad your daughter is OK. That had to be so scary. There was a lot of damage west of here and north of me. There were even tornados. Bad stuff. Glad all is good.
DeleteSafe and sound here and hoping everyone else is too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are OK. I thought so much about you during the storms, as you seemed to be in the line this time. Still worried about Donna, she lives right in the middle of where a ton of damage was. I haven't seen her town mentioned though.
DeleteThanks for checking in.
All good here in Chicago's southwest suburbs. We just had some strong winds and rain, nothing as severe as last weekend. Thankful you are safe and secure with minimal damage.
ReplyDeleteThat is great to hear. So happy you are good. I am fine, still worried about some of our regulars.
DeleteThanks for checking in.
Glad your alright. We had severe thunder and lightening starting in the middle of the night that woke us up here in our part of Pa. Thankfully we're fine and no damage to property. We're expecting more of the same on Sunday. Cookie
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are good! Hate that so many had storms during the night - that is plain old scary. I sure do prefer them during the day if we have to have them.
DeleteThanks for checking in!
Good you had little damage at your place! We are still without power. The Farmer brought an extension cord in so he could connect us to the internet via the generator. He has been busy keeping freezers and refrigerators running. We left early this morning to buy more gasoline to run the generator. Come to find out, the outrage in our area was caused by one of our west neighbor's BUT (big ugly tree). The mess fell on one our sheds and the insurance agent said unless he had been warned the tree was dangerous, the cleanup is our responsibility. I did tell him about what our insurance said and that he would be responsible the next time. He did come over and helped clean up and took it all away in his pickup. If it hadn't been for that, we would have power. Looks like every outage should be restored midday Sunday. We certainly didn't have it near as bad as other places!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you check in. I have been very worried.
DeleteSo glad that is all that has happened at your place, that is enough. I was hoping it was just a power thing. Your area was so surrounded by nasty stuff and so much damage.
Sorry about the shed. The guy should pay for that. We have always been told if a tree on our side does damage to the other side - we would be liable. Glad he at least helped and hauled it away.
I feel such a relief knowing you are ok. Glad you had a generator to help out. Stay safe, at least it isn't too cold yet. Thanks for checking in!
So glad you checked in Donna. I know Cheryl was worried about both of us.
DeleteGlad to hear you faired well amidst the storms. We are safe here in our corner of Oklahoma; there was a tornado about 6 miles from us. No one hurt, thank the Lord.
ReplyDeleteMary
Glad you are good! So happy to hear from each of you. The storms were so scary. Now there is a ton of flooding going on - hope all fair well from that as well.
DeleteThank you for checking in.
