Resurrection Day - Happy Easter to all. May you all be blessed this day and every day! I hope everyone takes a moment to count their blessings today.
We have a lovely morning here. The sun is kind of shining - with some clouds. It is in the 50's this morning. Looks like some off and on rain maybe. Yesterday was pretty much a wash out with rain.I did enjoy watching the Robins yesterday. They decided it was bath time - and they were lined up at the birdbath waiting their turn. I had 6 or 7 lined up for about an hour - They sure did enjoy themselves.
I got a call early this morning that my Gr. Nephew is in the hospital. He is a young man who was having fun with his friends yesterday on a day off from work. He fell and hit his head and has a broken vertebrae and some fractures in his neck, and as of last night had bleeding in his head. He is good spirits this morning and he was sent from southern IN to Methodist Hospital here in my city last evening. The bleeding has stopped thank goodness. Of course, my niece is up here with him. I know God has him in His healing hands, but if you are so inclined, please say a prayer for KJ for complete healing. Thank you.
My week:
- Baked biscuits one day
- Used leftovers in new ways and tried not to waste - some were frozen as well
- I went out to clear our Pampas grass (3 plants). Last fall I cut to about waist height - so I cut it way back and cleaned out all the dead stuff. Must have stirred up something, as Licorice now thinks he needs to roll and roll around back there! Also cleaned out and cut all wild stuff growing back there
- Did my trash p/u walk
- Moving lots of lumber and also moved a lot of my decorative rocks and fossil rocks around
- Received a beautiful handmade card from Cookie!!! THANK YOU
- Did run out to get corn and finch feed at the feed store - resisted buying any plants yet!
- Had a broken squirrel feeder - so fixed that
- Mowed and trimmed the whole yard
- Made almost a gallon of frozen 'fruit cream' (it is so good) - using fruit that needed used
- Aired the house several days
- Worked in the garage trying to clean and throw away some stuff - huge job
- Paid everything I had here, except property taxes - which I received this week. I will pay next week
- Laundered all the warm cat bedding from outside - fresh and ready for next winter!
- NO groceries at all
- Just doing all the normal stuff and eating at home
Meals this past week:
Leftover rice/w beans added and biscuits
Egg salad on biscuits and fresh veggies
"Poor man's" Swiss steak and mashed pots
2 sausage/egg biscuits and fresh veggies
Individual 'cottage pie' - using leftovers
Taco salad
Loaded baked potato and side of Brussel sprouts
SNACKS: PB sandwich, popcorn, fruit cream, nuts, fruit
Just trying to get outside in shape - it is a big job and seems to be never ending. So much to do.
How has your week been? Have you been keeping busy outdoors or spring cleaning? Any good deals?
I hope you are all safe and well. I hope you all have a wonderful day today, no matter how you spend it. I just hope we all take time to be thankful and prayerful of all that we have.
Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed week.
Blessing to you and yours from me at my humble little home.

I certainly will be praying for KJ. So very sorry for this. I know you are missing your sweet G today and every day. Am praying for you as well. Happy Resurrection Day to you. Our Savior lives. Linda T
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I sure hope he heals and has no future problems.
DeleteI am, Easter is pretty solemn for me, as it was the last holiday we spent together. I just kind of spend the day in reflection.
Yes indeed, He lives!
You have a wonderful day and week.
Prayers for KJ...asking for complete and fast healing!
ReplyDeleteHe is risen, He is risen indeed! Alleluia!! Happy Easter to everyone!!
Linda M
Thank you so much.
DeleteYes mam! He is Risen! What a wonderful gift.
Have a blessed week.
Happy Easter/Spring. And kind regards & best wishes for your great-nephew. How life can change in a heartbeat. My cousin was transferred to a local hospital on Thursday after the ruptured aorta beginning of March. R-sided paralysis persists. I hosted 8 retired colleagues for lunch on Tuesday; always a great time together. Other than that, a relatively quiet week. Robins are back & there's been sightings of 4 cubs at a bear den close by. The river is open. Spring is definitely here. Walked 8 mi this past week. Saw the movie, The Amateur, starring Rami Malek. Reading The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd - the story of Ana, married to Jesus, & her "bold struggle ... while living in a time, place and culture devised to silence her." In the kitchen: another pot of chicken noodle soup; egg salad; tuna salad; chicken/veg stir fry; sauerkraut soup. I made no-bake cow patty cookies shaped like nests & decorated with egg candies for the neighbor little. I'll join her family this evening for a meal. Have a good week, Cheryl.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, life changes in an instant. Continued prayers for your cousin.
DeleteWhat a nice luncheon that must have been.
I could do without bears - but it sure sounds like life is renewing in your area. Good job on the walking.
Sounds like a lot of good eating at your house. Enjoy your visit with the little one.
Have a super week.
Excellent devotional! I am so thankful for all the many blessings, and especially for the shed blood of our Messiah. Without that, we would be lost.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your great-nephew's accident. Sounds like he will be okay but he will be on my prayer list. Scary business!
Yesterday was a total washout. Today started off overcast but the sun (SON) is out now. There is a dental office down the road called Sonshine. I like that.
You had a busy week! Cleaning and decluttering is always a goal.
Hauling that lumber around would be a workout! This time of year can be overwhelming as the gardens beckon, "come clean me up", and the house says, "what about spring cleaning?". My next outdoor project will be weeding the new flower bed by the south fence. The lilac in that bed is blooming and there are a few perennials that need refreshing after the winter.
The six-month old battery in the van died but AAA came and replaced it according to the warranty. Batteries don't seem to last as long as they use to. Both vehicles need sweeping out and the snow and ice scrapers put away for the warm months. There is never a lack of chores to do around here.
Enjoy your day! I'm off to gather dog bedding to wash and get towels, shampoo and nail clippers out for a dog spa day.
Yes, I don't know how I could survive without our Lord.
DeleteThank you, just praying he doesn't have to have any surgery. Waiting to hear on that.
Yes, yesterday was WET! I loke that Sonshine! There is always something to do - and as I told sis this morning - it sure takes a lot longer!
Sorry about the battery. AAA sure is helpful! Worth the yearly spend IMO. Thanks for the reminder, I need to vacuum the Blazer badly!!!
Yep, it always something
Have a lovely week.
Happy Easter to you all! The Lord is Risen! I went to early church, it was lovely - all candles and chants and song and incense. OMGoodness. :)
ReplyDeletePrayers for your KJ, Cheryl. How terrifying. I've had spinal injury and know how hard it is to finally get well, but he is young and that always helps. I remember trying to move my toes and when I could see them respond I felt such lightness and joy! I was sure I'd get well then.

To you as well. Sounds like a lovely morning!
DeleteThank you for the prayers. He is young and such an active guy, works full time and just has a fun life like most young folks. I sure hope he doesn't need surgery. He had an MRI early this morning and is in a collar for now - waiting to hear.
I bet that was wonderful. It is very scary with the neck and back.
Have a wonderful week.
Enjoy your Easter weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe were able to get outside to do a bit of yardwork yesterday, more on the schedule for today. It was nice enough for Eli to do his Easter egg hunt outdoors.
Thank you.
DeleteSo happy the weather has turned out nice for you. It is about time - you deserve some warmer stuff.
I bet Eli had a ball!
Have a great week.
Hi Cheryl, Happy Easter !!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers for your family members, I’m sure the boys parents are needing prayers for strength as well. I know what it’s like, my own family has been having a rough run lately.
Take care, Louise.
Thank you Louise. Yes, they have had a time of it too. It appears he is going to be OK - needs to stay in hospital for a day or so more - just to make sure no more bleeding.
DeleteMany prayers for you and your family. It is such a struggle sometimes. Good to hear from you.
Have a good week dear.
They're lucky in some ways that the brain bleeding was caught early and it is being monitored. Still scary in someone so young.
ReplyDeleteOn another topic - how did you make the frozen "fruit cream"? We are coming into winter here and not much fresh fruit will be available, certainly not at a reasonable price. I'd like to buy now and store it.
Yes indeed. They live in a small town and that hospital caught it and sent him immed. up here. They wanted to air lift - but the weather was bad - so came by ambulance. Nothing new from the bleed, so that is good!
DeleteI used both fresh and canned fruit - both of which needed used up. I drained the canned. Blended it until all smooth, added a little milk and this time I did added a little whipped cream I had. You can add sugar/sweetener if desired. I added nothing else. Poured in bowl, covered and froze. You need to leave out for a few minutes as it freezes fairly hard - but it sure is tasty and refreshing. You could also freeze in ice cube trays (will prob. do that next time) - so you can have a cube or two when you want it. Very creamy.
Have a super week.
Thank you. I will certainly try that. sounds delicious
DeleteENJOY!
Delete“The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”
ReplyDeleteNumbers 6:24-26
AMEN - Thank you for that scripture. Something we should all remember.
DeleteHave a blessed week.
Happy Easter to you too, Cheryl.mix will certainly say a prayer for your nephew. I was sitting outside yesterday looking at all that needs doing here too. One bite at a time as you said earlier this week. 😂
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good week.
Thank you. Prayers have sure been helping, he is doing better.
DeleteOh there is so much to do! It never ends. Yep, just one little bite at a time.
Have a great week.
Happy Easter to you, too, Cheryl. Isn’t it a comfort to be able to bring all our needs and concerns to the Lord? Praying for your g-nephew.
ReplyDeleteWe’ve had a goodly amount of rain yesterday and today. The irises are beginning to bloom. It’s almost time to put my sweet pea seedlings in the ground.
I hope you and the kits have a wonderful week ahead. Lord bless you🙏🏻

Praying for your nephew and his wife. I hope the healing comes quickly. We bought birdseed this weekend (or squirrel feed, as we call it :) and tried to pretty up the yard a bit. I'm going to attempt to do a no-grocery week, with the exception of a bag of sugar that I need. We'll see how it goes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. he is single and is with his mom at this time. He seems to be doing good. He sure wants out of that hospital.
DeleteThere is always something to do to pretty the yard.
Good luck on no shop - it is really easier than you think. Just substitute if necessary. It is kind of a fun game.
Have a great week.
I’m sorry about your nephew. I pray he heals quickly. You are a busy little bee. You get so much done during your weeks.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I think he will be OK. I just get scared, as he is pretty special to me.
DeleteThanks, but sometimes I don't feel like I get much done
Have a great week
Hi Cheryl. I will keep your nephew and family in my prayers. I hope he has a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful Easter here with perfect weather. Saturday was a wash out here also but sure made everything green pop yesterday morning.
Yard work is a full time job isn't it?
I hope you have a lovely week!!
Thank you - I think a full recovery is going to happen. Sure hope so.
DeleteIt ended up being very pretty here for Easter as well. Lovely temps, no rain and a little sunshine. Yes it does, so much green - it is so pretty.
I think yard work is more than full time!
Have a great week.
I am so happy to read that your dear nephew is doing so much better. I will add him to my prayers for a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you so much. I was thrilled today to hear he gets to finally go home this afternoon. The prayers have surely helped.
DeleteHave a wonderful week.
