Howdy all. Hoping this finds you all safe and healthy. It is another very chilly morning here. We are under a freeze warning until about 9AM. It is partly sunny this morning, but we do expect some showers later on. Oh fun - not!
This morning I noticed a tan and brown pigeon in the backyard. My usual visitors are the basic black, gray and iridescent green ones. This one was really quite pretty. It is actually only the second times in years that I have seen a tan one in the wild.
I have come across some yummy recipes and ideas that I thought were fun sounding. One took me back to junior high! Hope you enjoy these. As always click on the pictures to increase the size if needed.
This is the one that took me back to junior high. We made a very similar item in home ec. and called them 'popovers'. I need to make these again soon. I remember they were so good and fluffy.
You know I am a natural medicine/holistic believer. I know there are many that take prescriptions for various things, and everyone does what is right for them. I take nothing and sure hope I never have to.
I noticed so many of these listed bananas, oranges, nuts, grapes and grapefruit. At least one or two of those are eaten by me EVERY single day. I am a citrus fanatic, and I generally have bananas or grapes on hand and there is always some kind of nuts in my home. I have also kept tart cherry juice or tart cherry capsules around always. It really does help with aches and pains. I am not a fan of avocado nor papaya - but pretty much have or have used all the rest.
The Lord has said He provided us with everything we need on this earth. I do believe that. Many medications today, were derived from natural things many years ago. Native Americans have always followed the natural way as well.
I know it isn't for everyone, but I love it.
Just thought I would share.
You have any fun and easy recipes to share? Do you use a lot of fruits and nuts in your life?
I'd love to hear your tips.
Have a fantastic day my friends!
Good morning, Thank you for the info. I have printed out a couple of them. I had a Dr. tell me to eat more bananas as my potassium was low. I still struggle with that. It's not a habit to eat fruit I don't remember us having fruit around as a kid.
ReplyDeleteGood morning. You are welcome. A banana helps my sleep as well. If I eat a banana or drink a small glass of milk about 7PM - I always sleep pretty darn good.
DeleteWe had fruit trees and grapes and such when I was a kid, so it is a normal for me. I actually crave fruit! I guess that is better than craving sweets!
Have a good one!!
The Father said he would care for us. Somehow I don't think He meant a prescription. Lots of good information! I pinned several of them. The pancakes are cute and the grown up as well as the kids would enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteThe Farmer takes a supplement called MSM and it takes care of his floaters he has in his eyes. I don't know if there is a holistic form of that or not. Turmeric is good for inflammation. Lots of foods cause inflammation and swelling. Most doctors today write prescriptions and not even consider a better, less toxic method.
Cool and gloomy today. Our mechanic is coming after he gets off work to look at both vehicles. Hope it doesn't rain until he is finished.
Enjoy your day!
Yep, the Lord has given us what we need on this earth in the natural.
DeleteReally? For floaters. I have a lot of floaters and some days they drive me crazy (sunny days). Yes, turmeric is great too.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of holistic doctors which today, really mystifies me. You would think there would be more. They write prescriptions - IMO cause they get paid to!
Good luck with your vehicles.
I 100% agree with you. Cherries do wonders. When I have the pain that tart cherry juice helps. Also, I'll get cherries in-season and make them into a non-dairy ice cream of sorts. Or not ice cream but something like that. After a jog, I'd grab one from the freezer.
ReplyDeleteCherries rock!
PS: Love the bunny butt. So cute.
Cherries are just so good in so many ways. Tart cherry has always worked great for me. I love cherries in any form!
DeleteYours sounds good!
Same. I adore them.
DeleteCheryl, I have always heard food is medicine. I do know that the genetically modified foods are not good for you and you have to watch what you buy.
ReplyDeleteI love fruit and veggies, almost all of them. I do use some herbal supplements and grow/forage for some things. You are correct Native medicines are around us we just have to research and find them. I fault no one if they take prescriptions, we all have to follow our own instincts and path.
Good post!
JC
Yes, you have to watch and try to heirloom if possible. That is as God made it. I love fruits and veggies, so I eat a lot of both.
DeleteI take herbal supplements too and even eat some of the 'weeds'. Native Americans and many other ethnic groups (think true Alaskans) know all about natural medicines.
Oh, I don't judge a soul that takes meds - absolutely have to follow your heart. Each person does what they feel is right.
Mmm, those Nun’s Puffs look good! Thanks for the recipe🧁
ReplyDeleteMary in OK
I remember making them in school and they were tasty! You are welcome.
DeleteThese are great! I've saved them in my food folder. :) Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteThis morning there was Heavy frost when I went out. Brrr. Hat and mittens again.
Bought more supplies for my Long Term Storage: dental floss, toothpaste, canned chicken, instant coffee, canned black beans. I guess with these new tarrifs the price of canned goods will rise. So much metal is imported. Sigh.
Be well, y'all, and stay warm.
MaryB
Glad you liked the ideas.
DeleteYep, cold here too. Gloomy now.
Glad you are getting situated. I haven't bought much lately. I have so much of about everything I might need - no need to add more at this time, thankfully!
I love the bunnie, and I am going to make that for Kelsa and William!
ReplyDeleteIt is just so cute and sure make eating breakfast put a smile on your face.
DeleteAll great ideas. The bunny is cute and the butterscotch sauce sounds delicious. That is a keeper.
ReplyDeleteIMO a healthy diet is the best medicine along with natural/holistic medicine. The processed and ultra processed foods are filled with chemicals that our body doesn't recognize and causes all kinds of problems.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
Thanks. I agree - we need to eat as much fresh food as possible and stay away from chemicals. They are every where.
DeleteHealthy diet with good foods is a plus.
I do have bad stuff once in a while - then I can tell I pay for it for a few days!
You too!
Gosh that bunny has brought a smile to my face! So cute!
ReplyDeleteWould make breakfast fun!!!!
DeleteThe bunny made me smile and wish I had little children around to share them with.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I think it would make an adult smile to get served a breakfast like that. I sure would.
DeleteHi Cheryl- As a citrus lover, have you ever had pomelo? It looks like a huge grapefruit and is much sweeter...my favorite fruit. It's usually available Dec. to Mar. Pricey but sooo good . It's one of my few splurges. Cindy/WV
ReplyDeleteI haven't had that, nor have I ever heard of it. I will have to pay attention this next season. I really like grapefruit (pink), so that would be up my alley. Thanks.
DeleteI eat apples, bananas, prunes, and pecans every day. garlic powder or garlic are used instead of salt. I do use pepper sparingly because it makes me sneeze. Best of all, Tommy has learned he does not need salt! He made his food white with salt when I cooked it before he even tasted it.
ReplyDeleteYou eat some good fruits! Yes, garlic is very good for us as well. I do like salt, but try not to use too much of it and use different flavorings instead. That is good that he has cut back on salt intake.
