Weekly Wrap-Up 3/7

Happy Sunday my friends!!!!!   I hope this finds you well and safe and happy.
It is a beautiful morning here - the sun is shining brightly and the birds are singing.  We have had sun absolutely every single day this week!!!!  I can't remember the last time that happened.  It has been lovely and we have a few more to go before rain comes to town.  It has been dry for over a week as well.
Next week prediction says we will have days in the 60's!!!!  OH YES!  We will take it.

It has been another week of just doing lots of little things.  Nothing big or major - but little things add up over time!
My week:
  • Changed out my 90 day furnace filter.  I started sneezing, and thought maybe my filter was dirty.  Not really - I had my doors and windows open a couple days!  Oh my, allergy symptoms have already started!
  • I went to the library
  • Changed out my door decorations to spring items
  • Changed out the chair and couch covers and table toppers to lighter and brighter colors.  Laundered the winter 'looking' afghans.  Changing up to spring look
  • Put up my boots, heavy coat, ear muffs and gloves - got out lighter jacket
  • I did tons of laundry (cleaning household linens) and line dried a bit of it
  • I picked up tons of limbs and sticks from the yard - from past winds we have had
  • I needed a new plant stake for a houseplant and I went out and chose the perfect one from those limbs and sticks - all natural
  • Washed windows inside and mirrors
  • Used up lots of leftovers and froze many.  I made potato cakes from leftover mashed potatoes and even froze some for later.  Froze containers of broccoli/cheese soup I made and froze half a homemade pizza for later easy meals
  • Cleaned out the refrigerator and reorganized the frig freezer
  • Got to air out the house on 2 days
  • Talked myself out of shopping each day this week!!!!  Didn't really need to go out, so money saved.  No shopping on the weekend - too busy for me.
  • Starting to work on the spring deep clean again.  Didn't I just do fall????  LOL  Always something needs cleaned
Meals this past week:
Cheesy, onion potato cakes and a salad
Mex. shredded beef/beans/rice over corn chips
Broccoli cheese soup (from a mix I got at holidays with lots of extras added)
Baked potato topped with broc./cheese soup
Tacos made with shredded beef/beans from earlier
Homemade pizza
Goulash and salad

SNACKS:  oranges, cinnamon/sugar toast, cereal, corn chips

Soup made with a mix I got in holiday basket -  added extra cheese and extra broccoli and a little cauliflower I had.  Topped with sour cream and served with crackers

How was your week?  What did you do to stay frugal this week?  Are you getting better weather?  Has anyone started their spring clean?
Frances just a quick hello.  Thinking about you and hoping your wrist is healing.

I hope this coming week finds you safe and healthy and frugal.  May your days be filled with sunshine and laughter.  Prayers for healing for all in need.
Blessings from my humble little home to yours.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes;  fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.  It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

  1. We are in Southern Illinois so have had the same weather as you and it has been wonderful! I am starting my deep spring clean this week. I still work so it will probably be the end of the month before I'm done. Have a great week!

Good luck with your spring cleaning. I go slow - so it takes me a while.
      Enjoy your week.

  2. Oh my but you got a blast of Spring Energy!!!! Lovely!

Here we are still cold, but warmer temps are in the offing. But it's too soon, up North, to really *believe* in Spring. -smile-

And yet, as I type, I can hear birds, from inside my closed windows! -smile-

Our really Spring will come though. It's lovely about Nature, the Wheel of the Year always turns and the next season, always comes. Very reassuring, even if other things, are not.

    Gentle hugs,

    1. It is probably too soon here as well. Last year we got a very hard freeze in May and that really messed up so much. It doesn't pay to get too antsy outdoors - so I will work inside.

Yes our creator guarantees us the many seasons and they are wonderful. We truly need them all for nature to thrive.
      Have a great week.

  7. You certainly have been busy. Spring has a way of lifting one's spirits. My world is still one of snow and cold and icy paths due to a mild day last week. We strap cleats onto our boots and use ski poles to walk about and keep from falling. I have started tomato plants and some brassicas for my garden and managed to overwinter the rosemary without it dying. That will be replanted in late May. I haven't shopped in many months so decided to make some new pants; two down and two to go.
Your week's menu sounds delicious. Cheesy is always pleasing. Stay well.

    1. So sorry to hear your weather is still so nasty. I can handle snow much better than ice. How nice to have some plants started.
YAY on making new pants. That is great. Always a way to get something new and different. Way to go.
      Thanks. Have a good one.

  8. We are having much nicer weather, but it will not last, snow is predicted for Tuesday. At least it won't stick around long....Hopefully.

Just the usual frugal happenings around here, or at least as frugal as I can make it being laid up for the most part.

    God bless.

Yuck on the snow. I am sure it may happen again - but I hope not.
      Take care dear.

  9. No spring cleaning here yet...not while I have curling to watch. :p
As Jackie mentioned, it is warming up but we'll have more snow yet before March is through.

    Take care, stay well!

  10. I have been shopping with a list and sticking to it unless I find I absolutely forgot something. That has really saved me money over the past few weeks.
I can't wait for real spring to get here. I am so over winter! xo Diana

    1. Smart gal. A list is really important. I don't think a lot of people realize how important it is. Sticking to it is even more important!! Good job.
      Looking forward to warm days!

    1. Not that busy - just lots of little things. I do have some big things to tackle and dread it.
Glad to have reminded you! I need to add that to my list - need to restock a few.
      Take care

  12. It's been beautiful here in Neb too and will continue until Thursday. It IS only March. We have started calving.
I didn't do any shopping last week, so saving as well. I have a short list started but I'd like to hold off as long as possible.
Made IP lasagna last night and meat loaf tonight. Leftovers!
Dh had a simple out-patient surgery on Thursday so he's off work for 2 weeks. He'll eat those leftovers for lunches while I'm at work. I also have pot pies and homemade Runzas in the freezer too.
I've been choring since Farmer cannot. So I'm sneezing from all the hay dust.

That makes for some busy days for you - nice to have those meals made ahead.
I know if you can wait on store - why not. I just keep talking myself out of going. Nothing I need that bad.
Take care and don't over do it.

  13. Our weather has been very nice but supposed to get cool later in the week. Went into Target Friday evening for a couple of things. It wasn't too crowded at all. Spring cleaning/purging my towel closet in master bathroom. Will wash them and keep some and donate others. Didn't know I had so many. Who knew you could get 300 towels in one small closet? LOL

    1. That's a LOT of towels!!!!! My goodness. The donations will make some organization happy.
I will be doing the kitchen under sink today. UGH
      Have a good week.

  15. Many heartfelt thanks for the prayers and well-wishes. It means more than you can know. Surgery went well. Seeing the Dr Tuesday to get the stitches out. PT has begun. No spring cleaning for me. No lawn mowing or garden this year. No sewing, quilting, knitting or crochet for a while. Lots of reading. Going stir crazy. May try to teach myself to crochet left handed. That ought to be interesting!

    1. So glad to see you post. Still praying for your healing. Oh my, that sounds like a loooonnnggg summer!! So sorry all has to be on hold this year. Not even a few plants in pots?
Soon it will be warm and you can at least sit outside and watch the world go by.
      Take care my friend.

  16. I had emptied the veggie bed last fall to remake the rotted frame. Assumed I would be able to lift bags of peat, vermiculite, compost, and manure to make new growing medium this spring. Can't lift. So no garden. Still have the strawberry bed and will do flower seeds in the existing flower beds. It will work out. Everything happens for a reason.

    1. Love your attitude. Yes mam, it all happens for a reason. I am sure you will be blessed with fresh veggies in some way this summer. Just do what you are supposed to and behave!

  17. Isn't it great to store away the winter things? According to the 15 day forecast the weather will be pretty nice. It's probably time to put the snow blower back in the shed. We used it only one time but it sure came in handy.

    1. Yes, it is nice to see winter go bye-bye. I haven't used my blower for about 5 years now.
I was thinking of putting up the snow shovel as well!
